    I loved this reaction.
    I haven't really ever been into rap before.
    But, I am 55 and the rap that I have been exposed to was mumble rap or angry.
    Neither of which is something that I want to hear. Let alone listen to.
    But, I have been learning about it because of Ren and watching reactors such as yourself.
    There is just something about Ren that makes me want to hear what he has to say.
    No matter how he chooses to do it.
    I'm even learning to listen faster.
    At my age, it's a challenge.
    But for Ren, I am willing to take up the gauntlet.
    So, nevermind the critic's.
    I have learned a lot and enjoyed myself along the way.😸

    The problem with Ren rapping is that you have to be smart and have a lot of culture to understand the depth of his lyrics. Multiple levels always going on. Some people don’t get most of what is going on and the same can be said of his music and technique

    • @philr696
      @philr696 Год назад +10

      It could be a cultural thing. "In the car park by primark" from the hunger just for example. Where I live in New Zealand its just not a thing. I grew up in the Uk though and have managed to escape from primark.

      I get so frustrated when I tell everyone about REN! I can’t believe how people can’t get it. You hit the nail on the head though. You pretty much have to have knowledge of what’s going on in today’s world and an education to get the deep stuff. Animal Flow, I knew right away when I saw it that it was based of the George Orwell book Animal Farm. Had to read it in English Literature class.

    His songs got longer as he began to feel better... Probably after the stem cell therapy he travelled to America to get...
    Prior to that the Chronic fatigue and pain from the undiagnosed Lymes Disease probably stopped him from singing and rapping longer than a few minutes...
    He was bedbound and rarely left his bedroom for years as his health worsened so thats why hes well read, uses movie references and covers so many genres... He can play guitars, piano, cello, drums, sings, raps, beatboxes and produces music and videos...
    Its time for all those seeds hes planted over the last ten years of writing and making music to grow... And while hes in Canada recieving further treatment for Lymes disease those songs will be grow into trees giving the audience shade in a plethora of genres with a diversity of ages...
    This 52 year old mother of 2 is bopping to Ren daily

    Great reaction! I think part of the reason Ren's Braggadocios (sp?) lines aren't an issue for the listeners/fans is that a lot of it is meant to be quirky and in jest. Ren takes music seriously but not himself. If you read up on him, he comes across as very down to earth and humble. I know that some traditional rappers have had issues with this song being created with an EDM beat, but I love it.

    • @ADHDville
      @ADHDville 3 месяца назад

      My argument is that this isn’t braggadocios style. The RUclipsr here just jumped on that interpretation before Ren finished the line. Ren is framing this whole track as the world is the giant and Ren is jack. Ren is the scrappy street smart fun ‘screech’ style guy in his own version of squid games. Everytime ren builds himself up, he takes himself down. Eg. Pop 3 guys and takes himself out for revenge. When this RUclipsr says REN is saying he’s a giant and bragging and stomping on his opponents he totally missed what REN is saying here.

    The whole thing with the track suit and moving around was for people to see that he is #456 and it is the same as what they wear from Squid Game where there were 455 contestants and red light/green light was one of the games they play.

I know nothing about music and have dreadful taste (I owned a vhs of the Frog Chrous) so I really appreciate rappers actually explaining the techniques. Such a fun track. This is Ren flexing his skills and clever lyricism while also showing us his cheeky sense of humour. And I love it! It’s also just nice to see how he hasn’t lost his humour with everything he has been and is still going through. It’s like he is saying “sure life sucks but let’s try to have a laugh whenever possible anyway” with this and it’s oddly heartwarming.

    Ren often outlines the track in the first lines. If you misunderstand them you miss the framing for the whole track. If you know the fairytale he’s referencing in “Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum” you’ll realise he’s saying he’s Jack, he’s not the giant. Just like in the fairytale the giant asks “who is this…?” (camera is bottom up to make him giant) we then cut to REN in the studio (top down shot so he looks smaller) and he replies to the giant “I’m here in my room”. The world is the giant looking at him. He’s a renegade sick little Jack who’s doing some fun bullshit in his studio. Thruout the track when he builds himself up, he immediately cuts himself back down. Eg. he drops 3 guys but then he drops himself in revenge. (It also helps if you’re British to get him). This IS NOT bragadocious style, it just comes off that way if you’re not paying attention.. REN is saying he is the underdog that wins the day…but that’s ok, you’re just reacting in the moment.

      Yeah… so this ‘REN is the giant’ interpretation is wrong in my opinion. It’s understandable as the RUclipsr jumped on that thought before REN finished the line (and that’s ok, he’s just reacting). REN is saying that he is Jack. The world is the giant stomping around and REN is the street smart, quick, fun guy doing his thing, . I could explain it in more depth if anyone is interested, but this misinterpretation means this isn’t a brag rap as such, it’s more a scrappy underdog winning the day against the “giant” - hence squid games reference).

    Fisher is the name of another artist and Losing It is the backing track that he's rapping over. The 'retake' part is that it's not a cover, but he's putting fresh lyrics over someone else's track.
    ... as an aside, maybe don't spend so much breath on people who're gonna give you beef. If they can't handle what you've gotta say and don't understand where you're coming from, telling them isn't going to change that.

      Ahhh so he “remixed” the track, a lot of rappers do that where they take the beat and rap over it in their own way :3

      It’s NOT a “remixed” it’s a rap over a DJ FISHER take in a FISH lent

      @@cartaspara.giovanni4151 “Remix” has a different definition in the rap world. It was confusing to me at first when I learned about it too, but remixes mean taking the same beats and rapping over it your way.

    Yes! Some of the rap that tries to be double time are akin to nursery rhymes. Too basic, rhyming unconnected words, than to be considered quality. There has to be a theme that hits throughout, every scheme and cadence has to make sense from one line to the next, from one word to the next even. There has to be a flow.

    You need to balance tha audio! Now it's 65%-35%! Left to right. And if you produce music yourself I'm suprised you don't get that you have to have the same volume level on your mic as the music?! With headphones it makes us have to turn it down every time you speak.

      Well see the great thing is, I don't mix my own music! I just record my raw vocals and someone else mixes it! But yeah this audio situation sucks for me rn and I'm gonna fix it.
