The reason why the touch pad is "offset" to the left on this type of keyboard layout (with numeric keypad on the right) is so that when you are typing the touch pad is on the center between your palms! It's designed to align to the space bar as well as the center of ASDFG ___ HJKL; keys.
It's so dumb, it doesn't have the space to actually lay your left hand, so if I just press spacebar etc. I'm pressing on it. I tried regkeys like super-curtain to reduce the zone but it doesn't seem to work.
And it's the most annoying thing I've ever encountered in my life lol. Can't use spacebar or ctrl+thing without clicking on it, tried everything, sensibility, even super-curtain regkey, i'm always forced to disable it. 😐

I want a laptop especially for school, but I'd also like to play some video games on it. I don't need super good video game quality, I just want to be able to play. I'm not planning on doing a lot of video calls with it, and I might edit some footage, but not a lot. Should I buy it? I really want to know if it would be the one for me or not. Thank you!

I bought a variant of this version new a couple of days ago on sale for 500 USD (16GB Ryzen 5 with 512 SSD onboard and touchscreen). I mostly use it for web browsing, college studies, and light gaming. By light gaming, I mean Minecraft, Roblox, and Wizard101. Nothing too extreme I guess. It runs amazing for the tasks I throw at it and I haven't experienced any issues thus far. Smaller than my previous laptop which was a 17.3 inch HP that was also touchscreen with a backlit keyboard. Hopefully, the hinges will be more durable than the HP. Plus, I can charge it with USB-C which is great since that's what my other devices charge with. Headphone jack is nice but honestly, I'll probably never use it since I prefer Bluetooth. The fan can be a bit loud at times but nothing I'm particularly perturbed about. I will only use the camera for zoom-ish situations so 720p is not something I'm complaining about. The weight is okay. And the size is perfect for my backpack. I also have a Samsung S8 Plus so the screen size is similar enough that it doesn't feel weird when I use my tablet as a second screen. The battery life is decent too. I can get about 6 to 7 hours no problem. I just wish the backlit keyboard was a bit brighter. Even my HP laptop that came out more than 6 years back has a brighter keyboard. In terms of possible future upgrades, 8GB is soldered while I could upgrade the other 8GB stick if I ever needed. I can also upgrade the SSD to 1TB if I ever need it. That's future proof for my uses so if the build quality can keep up, that would be great. By the way, I do love the blue color mine came in. minimal to no fingerprints too. Overall, a decent laptop that I'm satisfied with.
Your comment is fairly fresh since it's 3 months ago I want your updates I'm seeing a version for this ryzen 5 with 24GB RAM 512SSD for 440 USD I'll mainly use it for light gaming ig how does it run on roblox
@homroyforever6054 It runs Roblox perfectly fine with 16GB Ram. As mentioned before, the back-lit keyboard is not that bright. Laughable even. I don't know if it's just the specific laptop I got, but it doesn't light up the keys evenly. It's still usable though. I will warn you that the screen brightness is not great by any means. Does is get the job done? Sure, but I wish it could get brighter. It's especially noticeable when playing Minecraft. On Roblox, some games can appear darker so it's like you have to strain your eyes. But overall, it's an okay budget laptop. I'll most definitely upgrade to something better down the road. Maybe whatever the latest Samsung laptop is out when the time comes.

This laptop is pretty good, but sadly in my country there’s only TN display option And the more expensive ideapad 5? It has IPS screen but no upgradable ram even on 15 inch model which made the laptop more prone to obsolete much faster. Sadly this was done on purpose to made people buy more laptops
Hey I know what you mean: There are a few ways: 1) Check the manufactures website for technical specification and/or user guide. 2) Check a 3rd party review site (ie: notebook check) to validate the display type. 3) Use a 3rd party software like SoftCal to determine screen part number and validate display type on the internet afterwards. 4) Watch my reviews :)
@@SoulOfTech Thanks. I was thinking about buying this model. But there are different versions of the Ideapad 3. Some of them have TN displays (yuck). But if what you say is true about this version and it has an IPS panel, then I will buy it :D
I’ve been with this laptop for a year now and since last week the fan starts making a lot of noise every time I turn it on. I cleaned the dust off the fan but still makes an unsupportable noise that I have to close it of the annoying it is. I mainly use this laptop for editing videos (i use davinci resolve) and watching youtube. When I edit it goes kinda slow. I definitely wanna get a better one. It’s so annoying the noise it makes. Did anyone have this same problem?
The one in the video has a 12 Gen chip and more storage so it would definitely be better, but the IdeaPad that you are looking at may have a different chipset depending on the price
you should buy it for college or high school or uni also had one that fell on concrete on the corner of the screen and some peices broke off and the display was still fine and still functional to but it wasnt the the i version it was the standard ideapad slim 3 with the ryzen 3 with the 15.6 inch screen
Does this 12th gen perform significantly better than the 11th gen? This newer model is not yet available in my country, I can wait if it would be worth it. Thanks
Yes it's quite a bit faster. According to geekbench, the 12 Gen is 22% faster for single core and 31% faster for multi core, but this may not reflect real world testing
No, it won't make much difference in day to day usage. 10th, 11th, and 12th gen are very similar when it comes to laptop chips. Ignore what that first commenter said.
No Chromebooks are extremely limited it cannot run full Adobe programs on the web versions same thing with Microsoft program however you can install the mobile version of Microsoft programs on android but they are no where near their PC counter parts. Chromebooks are strictly for web browsing emails and watching videos nothing more.

Hi! Wich would you recommend? Lenovo IdeaPad 3 or Acer swift 5 for programming.
Great review
Thank you!
Another thing to note, you can charge it via USB C
Thanks for noting!
And it does DisplayPort out.
It's good it has the circular port for charing however, as we have Lenovo E14's - they only have 1 USB-C port and can only be charged by that method - over 10+ out of 50 have failed in 3 years and are bricked!
Does anyone know if this laptop is good for digital art?? I'll be taking a digital arts class this semester 🙃
Thx 👍
Is this right?
Navy Blue Color = IPS display
Grey Color = TN display
Is this a good computer to use for learning to code?
you never said anything about upgradablility., is the memory and SSD upgradable?
This is the laptop I was looking for to editing it’s perfect
Glad you found what you need!
Thanks I Have It right Here
@@RealSpartaVPyou bought this laptop?
@@YourEditorBrother yeah is Lenovo ideapad 3 2023 whit intel core i3 12 generation processor 8gb ram and 256ssd storage windows 11 with save mode 15.6 inch display for editing videos this week
@@RealSpartaVP congratulations, can you let me know something, does games like GTA VALORANT MINECRAFT and other high end games work on it smoothly? I am looking forward to buy It too 🔥
Im getting this with 24 gb ram a 1 tb ssd and an 11 pth gen cpu bc the most im gonna do on this is play minecraft and have a lot of crome tabs open so this will be very good. Also ill have 2 win 11 home licences
Edit: with touch screen
This laptop is pretty good, but sadly in my country there’s only TN display option
And the more expensive ideapad 5? It has IPS screen but no upgradable ram even on 15 inch model which made the laptop more prone to obsolete much faster. Sadly this was done on purpose to made people buy more laptops
How do you tell if it has an IPS or TN panel display? Its very frustrating because the sellers and manufacturers don't post the specs.
Hey I know what you mean:
There are a few ways:
1) Check the manufactures website for technical specification and/or user guide.
Lenovo actually has an app you can plug model numbers into called PSREF
its so easy.....
At least it is a full function usb c port so pd chargers can be used when on the move
There is that
Hello and what do u think of using it for online business or smthing will it work or not ?
today i think am buying after months of saving the ideapad 3 15 inch i5 alongside 512gb and 8ram so i am really happy
Congratz!
is this laptop good for programming?
Yes. It's not like the best but it is fairly decent especially if u can upgrade it to 16GB RAM. I have one and i do computer science btw
The track pad just follows where the space bar is
What do you think are the best stuff about it and worst stuff about it?
I try to cover all that in the review. Hope you find it helpful!
I wanna buy a laptop but iam confused
Lenovo ideapad 3 i5 11th wiht nividia kart or huawei matebook d 15 ?
Is this good for business like adobs programs and digital marketing??
Can you suggest a budget laptop to buy in the month of july
is this better than Asus VivoBook X415EP Core i5-1135G7 8GB RAM/256GB SSD/MX330??? im planning to buy the lenovo pls help
The one in the video has a 12 Gen chip and more storage so it would definitely be better, but the IdeaPad that you are looking at may have a different chipset depending on the price
you should buy it for college or high school or uni also had one that fell on concrete on the corner of the screen and some peices broke off and the display was still fine and still functional to but it wasnt the the i version it was the standard ideapad slim 3 with the ryzen 3 with the 15.6 inch screen
got this for college purposes! and also want to play some sims lol
bruh mine reached 100C when playing youtube LOL@@xoyanet

Hi, acer aspire 5 with 20ram, ryzen 7 5700u processor or lenovo ideapad 3 with 8ram and i7 processor?
Which one will you recommend?
depends on your intentions
Ayo this thing is good af with aaa games n all that u just gotta have good wifi
Does this 12th gen perform significantly better than the 11th gen? This newer model is not yet available in my country, I can wait if it would be worth it. Thanks
Yes it's quite a bit faster. According to geekbench, the 12 Gen is 22% faster for single core and 31% faster for multi core, but this may not reflect real world testing
@@clmfilms8103 thank you
No, it won't make much difference in day to day usage. 10th, 11th, and 12th gen are very similar when it comes to laptop chips. Ignore what that first commenter said.
Would this be a good laptop for running virtual machines?
I was wondering.. can you charge the laptop itself through the USB-C port?
Where df is the optical drive in laptops wtf
i5-1235U vs ryzen 5 5600 h which has better battery ? No gaming. Just browsing and videos. Plus study softwares
Great review 👏 👌
This laptop is more than good enough for me coz all I do is just documentation, Internet browsing and watching movies.
Good choice
What? No games? Come on man
@@lastxpgame suggestions to get on this laptop? Does can the sims 3 run smoothly on it? Thanks!
@@kitanaisacaprisun9081080p ultra run on 50-60 fps
I think everybody does the off center touchpad now... Acer does too, at least. Infuriating. Otherwise my late model Lenovo is great
I'm new to Chromebooks. What's the difference from a regular laptop? Can I have access to Microsoft word and Adobe Acrobat programs?
No Chromebooks are extremely limited it cannot run full Adobe programs on the web versions same thing with Microsoft program however you can install the mobile version of Microsoft programs on android but they are no where near their PC counter parts. Chromebooks are strictly for web browsing emails and watching videos nothing more.
Don't get a chromebook my friend. It will not help you and they are not fast to open browser then a window.
Hey, everyone. This brings slot for enlarge memory ram and be able to put hard disc.
I have the ideapad 3i (15’7) with intel core i3 1215u, 8gb ram is this good for school and light gaming like roblox?
Bro what why dont you just try it.
Please I need help, I just purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 upon turning it on it requires to confirm the time and date. After updating the time it's still not opening. What am I supposed to do?
I bought Lenovo ip3 15alc6 before 3 months and I am not satisfied. It has burned back panel, motherboard, TouchPad has issues and it is again at service..also very high temperature gets its processor, needs better cooler..also the fingerprint sensor has issue, we installed again windows 11...bought 600 euro and I am not satisfied totally.. for black Friday bought..now costs 650 euro...
What would you recommend between the IdeaPad 3 (i5-1235U, 8GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro, $550) and the ASUS VivoBook 15 (i7-1165G7, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 Home, $650)? Trying to decide for Prime Day. Nice video btw
The vivobook you get double ram and a better processor
vivobook is bettter
Vivobook defo
Definitely Vivo
Please write your video titles correctly. "3" is not "3i"
Just bought lenovo ideapad 3 i7 16GB. Lets see how it does. Cant find any videos on it
Guess if you want a centered track pad then just get a PC without the number keys ?
Thanks :D RUclips is full of top tier devices but not all of us want or can have those. Thanks for this review and your great description. Greetings from Chile.
Glad I could help! Cheers :)
How I can turn the lights on?!!
I'm using this for my work. Can this be upgraded? It's a bit slow
Can I please get a review and unboxing for Acer Swift 5 please
did I really just hear the phrase 'packaging experience'>>>?
I do not trust reviews in which the author messes up the video title with the wrong model.
So you think it's ok for editing?
For 1080p editing yes, for 4K or higher I would say not the best choice.
is it a good laptop and can you open the machine easily? is the machine slow? allegedly meets military standards
Returned one, 11-21-2003. T he SC card slot is unsatisfactory.
I did not know all various brand laptops IF they have this. card does not store in card slot. This and others only goes in 1/3 of the way. I could not accept a DSLR camera nor a cell phone. nor Hi res portable player with SD cards that stick out. Why did they change this laptops now?
Many more do not have SD slots. A few have a microSD.
Getting a DELL XPS machine and those slots it goes in some more, but still not all the way.
I have a question is it suitable for programming or not as flutter programming and jave
Can the screen fold back for touch use, like the yoga?
