You freeze the grinder on its side so that any liquids don’t freeze onto any of the moving parts meaning you can use it straight out the freezer instead of waiting for it to defrost

Pasta with squid ink is actually quite common in the south of Italy: usually it's spaghetti or linguine with a thick tomato sauce with squid and squid ink which turns everything black. It is quite scary looking but really delicious.

I saw on iron chef one time that they used squid ink while making pasta dough. It made it black and it was a seafood pasta dish so even if it smelled or affected the taste it wouldn’t be as noticeable anyways.
The egg one can be done with a coffee cup of appropriate width covered with a paper plate. The weight of a paper plate allows the right amount of steam to escape (so it doesn't blow up) while keeping enough in to properly cook your egg. As a bachelor, it really is the best way to cook a scrambled egg. I crack in 2 eggs to a Campbell's Soup mug and beat, place in microwave for 50-90 seconds (because microwaves vary, as well as elevation, humidity, atmospheric pressure). Start with less time, check, add as needed. You can use your fork to stir the cooked egg when checking, allowing to to control exactly how cooked the egg is (for different egg consistencies, runny to fluffy) You can stir in cheese, bacon bits, seasonings. Be aware the residual heat in the mug will continue to cook the egg, so remove the scramble when you reach desired consistency.. You can use the paper plate! Using this method, I don't need a separate gadget, breakfast is ready in about 2-3 minutes (time needed for toast), rinse the mug, run a nylon brush around it to remove egg residue, and use it for you morning juice... and only have a dirty mug to show for your full breakfast.

A- new toaster need to be used at least 4-6 times to get rid off all smells n find the right setting ( I got a new toaster last summer, it took I 8times to get the right setting. Oh I just assumed they pronounced icicle like motorcycle in the UK. 😆 There are so many words he pronounces slightly different than we do in the US that I would never know if he pronounced something entirely wrong, lol!
@@Mowgi We pronounce herb with no "h" here in the US too! But if it's a man's name, like short for Herbert I guess, obviously the H is pronounced then. When I was a little kid our neighbor's name was Herb, and since I'd only ever heard it pronounced with no h, I insisted on calling him "Mr 'Erb" which the adults found hilarious. 🤣
If the herbs freeze at the bottom of the unit, then I think it would or could get plugged. It on it's side, you can kind of bop it and the loose herbs will fall to the bottom more loosely. Cut your pepper the other way, from the inside first.
fun fact: the reason why the lid on the herb grater was opposite to normal is because if it were normal righty-tighty lefty-loosy, the friction of the frozen herbs against the razors would cause the bottom to un-screw! also, one would assume they want you to put it on its side in case of water left over in the herbs, if left upright it would pool and freeze in the bottom, ruining the blades when you try to use it, but sideways it pools on the side in the grooves, so likely can just be ignored.
@@Chriswsm its not about the position he's holding it, its about the threading on the container, another example of where left-threaded screws are used is in the pedals of bicycles, you constantly apply a counter-clockwise force to the left pedal's screw as you pedal the bike, so if it were a normal clockwise screw you would be constantly losening it and unscrewing your pedals.
Air is a pretty good insulator, by laying it down you maximise the surface area touching cold stuff in the freezer meaning it cools quicker, I suspect the 'leave it in the freezer for x mins is dependant on proper surface contact
I would bet they tell you to lay it on its side so that if the herbs are wet, from being washed, the water doesn't pool and freeze around the blades making it not able to work.
Rather than adding any dairy, I liven my tea up with lemon and honey, essentially making an herbaceous hot lemonade. It's delightful, and good for your throat.
I have those microwave egg cookers....i tried it without oil or butter and the eggs sticks to it so i tried a little butter and smeared it around the bowl and the eggs come out nice and moist
Barry with loose leaf tea use fruit tea make with just enough water to cover the tea let it brew then let it cool then top up with lemonade it tastes how it smells
If you freeze on the side gravity would somewhat flatten out the herbs as they freeze. This way you don't clog the entire container If you froze it upright all you would do is force the herbs down jamming the gadget instead of leaving it loose and free to grind.
When we were kids my siblings and I would put a cracked egg on a small plate almost saucer like and would microwave it for a minute or two tops and it would cook the egg for egg sandwiches etc and kept the round shape to boot like that did. So that is another option to try if wanted.. regardless, great video!💜
Have you tried nerada royal devonshire tea? It's not available in Australia and so my dad is basically my tea dealer because they buy it in bulk direct and then he brings me a few packs every few months. That is how good this tea is.

@@levischorpioen Just make sure you don't add any dairy with it. Floating curds in your tea is...less than appealing.
@@CarlGorn The very thought of adding dairy to tea makes my stomach want to yeet itself through my esophagus, so that won’t be happening.
I'm algric to lemon 🍋. But I do agree on the honey 🍯
@@AuttumnDawn You could also use yuzu, calamansi, kumquat, pomelo, lime, or any of the oranges or their smaller relatives.

That McMuffin with steak looks naughty! Yummmmmmmmm
I have those microwave egg cookers....i tried it without oil or butter and the eggs sticks to it so i tried a little butter and smeared it around the bowl and the eggs come out nice and moist
My nan would of loved that salt and pepper set she had over a thousand different novelty sets. When she passed i kept a few of them.
Have you ever tried iced sweet tea? Southern American style? It's one of my favorite drinks!
I Love These Videos 😄😍
Good ol southern sweet tea is where it's at, Barry. Drinking an ice cold glass right now lol
If you say southern sweet tea to me or Barry (or anyone else from the UK) we'll just think a cup of tea from London with 4 sugars in it
@@edbad85 😆 Guess I should have been more specific lol. American sweet iced tea.
Brilliant video barry .
