Lol I just made myself a leather mask because of this, like until this video came out, I had no idea I needed one as much as I apparently did, but now I have one and I made my own pattern for is, I'm so freaking happy, thank you for inspiring me to make my own leather mask!
Just made this! My only suggestion would be to add in a small piece of soft leather over to top joining stitch where it touches your nose. The thread can be a bit uncomfortable!
Obviously it Sucks that you cut your finger but I need to say I am very impressed at how fast you snatched your hand away and didn’t get blood on your project, lol. Even when I just accidentally stick myself with a pin while sewing, I still somehow manage to bleed on my fabric
I felt the finger tip clip… Some portion of my left hand digits end up in the flight path of my round knife all the time. My wife bought me a first aid kit specifically for my leather room.
This mask is really useful not only it keep you safe and away from the virus but, It's good for other people too. Making sure you're not gonna bite anybody.
lol hopefully you'll like the needle tip bottles, I do for sure. But it still works best to rub it in with your fingers before you start burnishing. You can also put in on the flesh side to lock down fibers and the color. That could possibly solve your bleeding problem with the mask. Also, I've become a fan of taping down templates since I found Dieselpunkro a year or so ago. Nothing more annoying than having a template slip on you, other than cutting off the tip of a finger :P
Any issues with fumes from the Dyes or from the Resolene or even the Tokonole being up against your face? I work in leather making tool belts and pockets (carpenter bags) and some of the finishes I use have solvents in them and you can smell them even when you are not putting the leather right on your face. I use veg tan for all my work but I do need to make the bags weather resistant and those finishes will have solvents for penetrating the leather to make them more resistant to all types of weather. I would love any info about non-solvent forms of weather proofing leather.
I've used the water based stains and top coats from Tandy on most of the masks that I've done, and Resolene on a few. just give the products some time to flash off. Wouldn't recommend finishing one and using it that day, But I haven't had any complaints.
@@brianhudson3619 Thanks so much for responding to my comment I truly appreciate it. Your video was very helpful for me. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your channel.
I know stock and barrel uses these cool pointed/fluted little rotating tip things for edge paint, I wonder if it might work for the tokenol, also, I’d love if you could put some quiet sound effects when just the video is playing, just so it’s a bit less plain and there’s a bit more to it, keep up the great content!
As a guy who makes leather gun holsters, as well as a lot of other leather stuff, I thought about making a leather mask. However the moisture buildup would be a big issue for me. Leather and moisture don't get along to well.
Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m new to the leather working community and I love your craftsmanship. I have added your patreon to try some of your patterns myself. I’m really sorry to bug you but is your mask still available on patreon or is it a separate purchase now? I was having trouble finding a file although I found several others. Thank you for your time and for your artwork. I can’t wait to start crafting. My name is Shipwreck btw. I look forward to talking to you about leather
@@DarkHorseWorkshop That is good. There are a few artists that I have been thinking of supporting, but with the prospect of Patreon going under, that makes it a little hard

Well well well, when I put on ma leather, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Who is interested in more Post Apocalyptic Dystopian type stuff?
Please!!!
Yes please!
Always!!
yeah And Yes ;)
Oh, yeah!
Apocalypse Mask... perfect for costumes , cosplay, the end of the world.... or a trip to Wal*Mart.
A trip to Walmart is probably just as bad as the end of the world lol
The bedroom if you're into that.
NGL, that intro might be the most perfect intro ever.

How about a Viking inspired Plague Doctor mask?
Made my own and it worked out great! Thanks for the pattern!

For edge finishes I use cop sticks from the take out restaurant. They also come in handy for other uses, and are free.
Using a ruler with cork on the bottom and a raised ridge in the centre saves fingers and holds paper in place better.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't figured out how to apply Tokonole efficiently. I've just been dabbing it on with my finger.
what about a qtip?
I find a finger works best .
@Dark Horse workshop you can use a sponge to put tokonole on
Obviously it Sucks that you cut your finger but I need to say I am very impressed at how fast you snatched your hand away and didn’t get blood on your project, lol. Even when I just accidentally stick myself with a pin while sewing, I still somehow manage to bleed on my fabric
It certainly hurt, glad it wasn't awful, just near awful.
If you bleed for your craft, it's an offering to the leather gods 😉
Glad to hear you ordered the bottles.
Perfect for costumes, cosplay, and covid
When I've used tokonole, I usually shake it than just use from the inside of the lid, with just my finger
That intro 😂 We're certainly living in 'interesting times'. I half expected you to finish it with "...or just popping down to the shops"
I felt the finger tip clip…
Some portion of my left hand digits end up in the flight path of my round knife all the time.
My wife bought me a first aid kit specifically for my leather room.
Ya my first aid supplies are strong these days. Dumping molten wax on my arm was also super fun.
It helps the 1/16 ( or 1.5 mm) hole punch is you do a few schwipes of Bee's wax over the holes before punching.
Awesome videos as always,brother!

From the virus? Realy?
my burnisher "wheel" is my Dremel burnisher in a vice sideways. :D
I have this pattern and am interested in seeing how the single strap version is assembled but I can't find the photos the instructions reference?
I'm looking around for pictures of it, but I think it just ended up being a pain in the ass honestly. Two strap way better.
Do you always have mad great skills I love watching your videos
You merely adopted the dark, I was born in it, molded by it.

Ya, hard to find a balance between annoying sounds and plain.
All fun and games, but how's breathing in this thing? Don't the smell fresh leather and finish give you a headache?
We need a mask for the bearded ones of us out here man
He literally HAS a beard and is wearing the mask.
BookCade NB I mean I big beard like mine is 6 inches in length
So like.. a mask that covers the beard? Hmmm... naaa... I think a mask with a wide slot to stuff your beard out the bottom of it.
Dark Horse Workshop that actually sounds great all the masks just squash it all over the place
What kind of leather is that?
This is very cool! 👍

More for costumes than daily covid wear.
Oh and good job on the intro. 😃
Your the best bro
Awesome work.
As always, love your video! Keep up the awesome work! Sorry about you finger too, glad it wasn’t too bad though.
Thanks so much!

where I can get the mask template with the size ...?
The template is on www.darkhorseworkshop.com. It's one size, you can scale it when you print it to alter that.
This is awesome!
Thanks. :)
cool job ! respecto!
If Patreon ends up going under, will you create another subscription platform somewhere else?
RUclips has one so that's be easy..been tempted to do the RUclips one just not sure how to make it different than emojis ha

Reminds me of something out of Mad Max.
Nice intro.

Lo ise i me quedo mui bueno

I would be excited for the world to not end please but you know...
Why does it almost look like bondage...
3:37 im a curb fan🤗
When I cut my finger, I splattered blood on my work... Looks like you lucked out.
coolt :D
Best way to apply tokonol is to dip your finger in the pot and apply with your fingertip
I've tried that and it's always a mess, I'll keep experiementing.
Why don't you tell batman to come out of the shadows.
"Apocalypse" Mask......... 👀
0:08 or a pandemic :D
Like & Subscribed...... :D
This looks dope buuuttttttt a lil too much like a sex thing so.... not gonna make it :(
Dislike.
The mask is awesome. The tutorial sucks.
Thanks for the feeeback, ya, 99% of people have no problem with my tutorials but there's that 1% that are a little slow. I'll try to do better.
Let me guess, you're a Trumpster. Real classy. 👌
