I've been binge watching the videos of Mrs. Phyllis. She cooked a lot like I have been for over 40 years so I'm not watching for a cooking lesson. I find the videos so calming, something desperately needed during this unsettling time. Thanks for keeping the channel going.
Hi iam from Sydney Australia and u just recently found the videos if Phyllis stokes I find them very entertaining and helpful I enjoy all of them I was quite saddened to read that she passed away Phyllis you are a lovely person I hope you and Mr Bucky are at peace and the angles are looking over you I hope heaven is a beautiful place and you are both at peace
I just made my cranberry sauce for my son this past weekend & I use mandarin oranges as well, but I do add a little of the juice in for some added sweetness. I also add, some diced celery, diced apples, & some diced walnuts. It's really so good. Love your cooking style.
Yum! Have you tried wild, or orange honey drizzled over your chicken or turkey?Just sprinkle the bird with poultry seasoning first, then drizzle some honey over it. You can do this with the skin on or off. Thank youPhyllis. You are educating the millinials and us busters who may or may not know how to cook. I think that we can always learn. You're passing on some basic knowledge that's been almost lost. I appreciate that you're teaching, and making it fun. :)
I don't have dogs, but I keep my chicken bones and skins and necks and boil them down for hours to make my own broth. It is a bit of work to separate it all out, but I love making and freezing my own broth.
I would not place the potatoes and carrots at the same time with the chicken. A potato and carrots do not take 2 hours to bake. Everything else looks super delicious
Hey Miss Phyllis! I love your channel and watch it every day. I am 63 years old and live alone and have started drinking your green smoothies every day but I just ordered my vitamix and realized I ordered the wrong one, so I have to return that one and reorder, but I would love for you to try my Grandmothers Cranberry Salad. I know you will love it. I would love to pass her recipe on to you. 1#Bag of Cranberries 3Small Strawberry Jello 3 1/2 C Water 3C Sugar 1Large Can Crushed Drained Pineapple 1C Apples 1C chopped Celery 1C Pecans 1 Orange Boil Water and Sugar. Then add Jello. After it starts to set add other ingredients. Pour into 9X13 pan and chill til set
That's a beautiful meal! I do this but I bake the chicken by itself. And I I'l the chicken before I season it. Otherwise my seasoning just runs off. Freezing celery and onions is a great idea!! I dehydrate mine but I do like the freezing idea! More options!
That meal looks delicious! I've never thought to combine whole cranberry sauce with Mandarin oranges. That sounds good. I've also found the chickens with no hormones or additives taste like chicken did back when I was a kid. I know my Great Aunt Eva killed her own chickens on their farm. However, I don't remember eating chicken at their house. I do remember taking a bath in a galvanized tub, out in the front yard, when I was 5 yrs old. They had a farm in Iowa and didn't have indoor plumbing until the late 1970s. She had a pump in the kitchen and she heated all their water on her stove. I remember drinking water from a long handled ladle and it was the sweetest and most delicious water I've ever had and never tasted since. It was drawn from a pump outside. Their water was well water and it was so nice to bathe in, too. I'm way off track from your yummy chicken dinner. I tend to do that. I do miss her and visiting that farm, though.
Thanks for the post Phyllis...Your going to make me fat Phyllis...I want to cook everything that I've seen you make...Man on man they all look so yummy :)
Hi Phyllis, another great video. You make Thanksgiving dinner look easy. I love the frozen celery/pepper/onion.....I have started freezing those too. I went ahead and diced one package of peppers last time I bought a bunch and sliced another package to save myself more time......When I cook onions/peppers together to put with sausages, etc. I can use the sliced.....if I want the peppers diced....they are ready to go there too. Thanks for making these videos.....they help me find different versions of meals that I usually make....by that, I mean, you add different vegetables so it gives me great ideas. Thanks!!!
Hey Phyllis, I can’t find chicken any more I like taste of. It has no flavor. I am in New Orleans. U would think i could find good chicken here. “ Not”!!!!!!!! Use to be my favorite meat. We now eat a lot of turkey thighs. Really like how u put this meal together. Much to much food for us at one sitting though. Gonna try roasting veggies along with chicken again n c how I make out w that. Hav not been successful combining roastings.
I fixed the link this should work now. www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Smooth-Opener/dp/B000079XW2?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJXSTRHYHWQMXZNPQ&tag=southernfruga-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B000079XW2
I don't really test recipes before I post, if I try a new recipe I post it and if it fails I post it anyway. Other recipes I have been making for years so no need to test it first. Young cooks need to know that sometimes recipes do fail but you still keep going with the cooking.
Chickens are not vegetarians. They eat like humans... omnivores. Let's hope they let the chickens free range for bugs and other little critters to eat.

You're right, Barclay, the husband is the one who had to have the dressing and the gravy and yes he was very happy. Thanks, Phyllis

Heather Michels thank you, I will try this , the cranberries go in whole?
Boy that sounds good. Thank you.
🥰🥰
Omg. That looks absolutely delicious. Definitely going to make this. Thank you Miss Phyllis.
I struggle to cook a whole chicken like that. Looks yummy. Bet the gravy would win an award.
What a fantastic meal Phyllis. Looks really great
Do you ever use the pan dripping for your gravy ? ?
If the cranberry sauce would melt, then the Mandarin oranges were added, and refrigerated, I wonder if it would set back up again like a jello mold.
Not sure whether it would set up again.
Oh this looks so good !!! I have never cooked a whole chicken before, but I want to try.
I grew up and again live in Cornelia/Baldwin, GA area home of Fieldale. I prefer other brands. Great recipe though! Love your videos!!!
wow that looks great
Everything you cook looks amazing.
I have that same can opener. It's a Godsend.

Very nice comfort food meal :)
that looks so good
Hi Phyllis thank you very much for sharing your wonderful chicken recipe. This is Ivana from Canada ❤️
What do you do with your pan drippings? I think it just makes the best gravy.
I only eat breast meat because I don’t like veins from the 🦵.........How do you keep it from being dry other than gravy?
can you use coconut oil instead?
I think coconut oil would be good.
Jeff In Chicago Expeller pressed coconut oil has no coconut taste.
Yum Yum !! Looks great now I am hungry
Do you still have the link for the can opener? Thanks and have a blessed day!!!

nice👍👍👍❤
luckiest dogs ever!
I love watching you cook Phyllis. I was wondering if you have a email address.?
Where can I send you reciepes to try?
I'm surprised you use cooking sherry since it is so high in sodium and all the professional chefs suggest never use a wine you wouldn't drink
salt is added to avoid classification as an alcoholic beverage...you just use less salt in the rest of the recipe to compensate
