- This time, Combat Approved is going to Syria for the first time, where the Russian Armed Forces are assisting the Syrian people in the fight against the international terrorist organization ISIS, banned in Russia. Along with the crew, the viewers will visit the Khmeimim airbase and learn how the tactical bombers and fighter jets are prepared for dangerous missions. We will tell you how the latest Typhoon-K armored vehicles, Pantsir-S self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun systems, and unique Orlan-10 and Forpost reconnaissance drones are trialed by war for the first time. In addition, you will learn how our soldiers are involved in a humanitarian operation to assist civilians. One of its main coordinators is the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria. Combat Approved will also tell you about the specifics of this organization's work.

Looking at the chubby and happy kids in the refugee towns run by the Russian military, they indeed are well fed and the buildings and streets look fairly tidy. I'm quite impressed, usually it's stuff USA does with wildly mixed results but nice to see other superpowers do their bit to fight the ISIS aswell and keep the locals fed and happy.

I’d say the advantage of not having to bring in another ammo type other than what is already used extensively in the region outweighs the small advantages to the personal soldier using 5.45 vs 7.62
