My mic is killing me. Why even have a hidden autoadjust option? Microsoft plain out denies autoadjusting input volume is a thing. The only thing they recommend is checking drivers, running troubleshooter aaaand reinstall windows. Just amazing. I'm hitting my head against the wall here.
If your using the Realtek drivers in Windows 10 and your mic volume starts to fluctuate, UNINSTALL both the Realtek driver and Realtek control panel. That was the fix for me! The builtin windows 10 driver just worked.
I have turned off everything I can find related to input gain and volume boosting on the microphone in Windows 11, and other related sound software. It still tries to make my ears bleed if I am recording, and talk in a manner that it deems too soft. 75 seems to be perfect for most things I do, and if I mumble out out loud while thinking something through, it boosts up to 96, and I can hear the air passing my mic. I speak normally, and my eardrums rupture, though I can hear the gain being brought back down. It shouldn't go up in the first place!
Thanks! I had a problem where my microphone volume kept resetting to zero when I'd hop on discord. Looks like it's not a problem anymore. Also if anyone is having background static that starts after they stop talking it is most likely the 'Microphone Boost' option. Set that to zero and it should fix that problem. I noticed when I had it at even +10db once I stopped talking it created static.

I don't have an option for Recording Audio. I'm having a lot of issues with sound volumes on my ASUS TUF F15. Realtek is the base audio control program. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as everything I try seems to have no effect
@@craftyboi9169I fopund a way to do things as I needed, but I'm not sure if it really fixed the problem. My laptop is in the shop, so when I get it back, I'll try to see what settings I tweaked. If memory serves me correctly though, I think I just disconnected the microphone from my headset and switched it to the built in relay. That seemed to allow for a smoother, non adjusting audio. I needed the audio fix for meetings, and it's been working out ever since I did that switch. If I find that I did anything else though, I'll update. Otherwsie, good luck!

If anybody needs an additional tip.... In Sound > "your microphone" > Properties. Look for a tab at the top labled "Custom". You may have a checkbox in there called "AGC", which stands for Automatic Gain Control. UNCHECK that along with the other instructions in the video. If you don't have AGC or a Custom tab, don't worry about it. Hope that helps somebody!

@user-qt7uw1xv6h open Chrome, in the URL type chrome://flags, in the search bar type microphone, the first option that appears should say something like "Allow WebRTC to automatically adjust audio input volume." Simply click the drop down menu and choose disable. Relaunch Chrome. This was what fixed it for me.
F'ckin ridicoulous Windows! It's been a pile of trash since Win 95 and still is. Every f*cking time I start or recieve a call on Skype for Business, the mic level drops back to 40 and noone can hear me. I have to manually drag it back up to 100 every freaking time. If anyone knows a solution for this before I throw my company laptop out of the office window, please let me know!

bruh this was happening to my headphones and it made me think my logitech mic was broken so i bought a 50 pounds replacement one and it turns out it was just windows being ass at their job

microsoft removed microphone boost option and its introduced some auto gain option, which is not working thats the whole problem, stupid ms engineers, if you speak very close to mic it will here, 5-6 inch away it wont hear.
You can set the mic to propriety device or you can disable all the other devices it tries to connect to. Also make sure the app you’re using has the mic you want set up in their respected settings

In my case it helped to delete all sites in Chrome access to the microphone. After this action, my volume is no longer reduced for no reason.
