What an amazing act they were. And not just Stuart Adamson. It was the whole package. Bruce was also an awesome guitarist, Tony is an amazing Bassist and Mark is like an octopus!
I was at this gig, one of the many many times I saw them, they were on fire that night, great live act, sadly Stuart has to one of the most underrated musical talents, a great songwriter and an astonishing guitarist. I still miss him.
One of the best performers , song writers this world has ever seen. Tears almost come when I hear Stuarts voice and Big Country's music. His tale is a sad one, that should have never ended the way it did. Love to all Big Country Family and Friends, RIP Stuart.
Now this is how it's done. No bloody lasers, no massive effects.... Just the best damn band in the world playing just about the best song ever to a partisan Scots crowd and enjoying every second of it. I wish every young person who thinks they know what music is could watch this and see how it's REALLY done. R.I.P Stuart Adamson, you legend.
As a non Scot who saw them in the Badlands of the English Midlands a few times, we loved them too, Same as we loved Runrig. But BC were just like POW. They blew you away. The lyrics were like poetry and the musicianship was flawless. How I rate a band is if they can make the place a whole massive music machine, a link between band and audience that takes it to another level. I haven't described that very well, but the only bands that ever have ever done that for me are Runrig and Big Country. And I have seen a lot of bands. Much as I love Runrig, Big Country were better at that. I have never watched a video and felt a buzz, like this. RIP Stuart, you gave so much yet found no peace yourself. I hope you have it now..
I would give anything for Stewart to still be with us now. Big Country would still be playing shows like this, sounding every bit as great, and I would go to as many as I could.
The guitar hook line of this song is in my head every day since more than 30 years now, since the first time I heard it, and it won't stop I'm sure. So damn great. Stuart and his mates have enriched my life.
One of the best bands Scotland ever produced coming home to the Barrowland. What a unique sound they had. Still fresh as a daisy, What a talent Was taken from us the day that Stuart Adamson died. Thanks you BC
The good old days and not a mobile to be seen..remember them days when u actually watched a gig and not try and be Stephen speilberg lol .top-level performance 😘
Played this on a blue tooth speaker...loud....at 06:00am on the summit of Buachaille Etive Mor in Glen Coe, waited 37 years to finally make it happen, from when I first went there in 1984! Big Country have been with me all my life through the ups and downs and always carried me through. The greatest. 👍
Totally agree, I grew up listening to both bands amongst others.80s Child me Always needed the Celtic Highland Edge? Was a real tussle between Both band Tussle. Didn't matter because they both putting out Good music. U2 had a better plug on the Radio. That's the music industry. And too me Big Country Always Had The Better Edge?.. 🙃 Happy Times 😎
Absolutely amazing performance, with the band at their best and the audience behind them all the way. Wish I could have been there. Fantastic. Wish Stuart was still around, such a legend. So happy the rest of the guys are still gigging! Truly epic.
I tell you, I can't believe that this is the first time I'm hearing this and I am completely blown away! Seriously! Holy CRAP! I've been a fan of theirs since In A Big Country was first released here in USA, and I'm still blown away anytime I come across them doing any kind of heavy metal. I love it. I keep forgetting their wide range of styles and types of music.
"Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming ... Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted..." Sadly, Stuart got to the point where he couldn't heed his own advice.
This song is the one there most known for, but there is so much more! Please listen to there other stuff, ( If you don’t already know about them) This man put his heart and soul in to his music n it’s show’s
Totally Brilliant Band .. seen them live in Saint Davids, Cardiff, Wales, 25/081990.. remember it like was yesterday 💛 my 21st B.day 🙃 Feekin Brilliant.. nuff Said! 😆🎈
Thank God I was able to spend my younger days jumping at concerts like this with hundreds of other idiots going crazy for about 2 hours, all pressed up to the front of the stage. A Big Country live show was like a happy survival, from start to finish. Watching that crowd in these Corona days makes me sad when thinking of youngsters deprived from so much due to this bloody virus. STAY ALIVE !!
thanks Isabellle87... up to your usual standard i see! They sure did look like they were having one helluva time; Stuart will never be forgotten; not if i can help it! Take Care Have a good xmas. love amanda
I was there that night, right at the front in front of Bruce. It was an unbelievably great gig, looking back, I'm still amazed I lived thru it lol. Non stop bouncing for 3 hours crushed into the barrier, screaming ourselves hoarse after every song. Was utterly exhausted after this but sooooo worth it.
My god that was pretty damn awesome. The audio of this is from "Without The Aid of a Safety Net", isn't it? The vid's a few minutes longer though. The boys look like they were having one hell of a time! Thanks for the post!

Totally awesome. Much loved and missed Stuart Adamson
Edge said at Steward's funeral: "They wrote the songs U2 wished we'd written." So there you go.
