A mAh is only ‘part’ of an energy measure; power (watts) is amps x volts, then you get energy by multiplying that by time: Watt seconds (Joules) or watt hours (Wh) are typical units. I honestly had no idea he existed until he started covering the Vision Pro. I'm in PC building and gaming and I love VR. This guy seems like he enjoys covering trendy things, which PC building is definitely not. But he does make a good video. I hope he branches out into other areas, maybe covering some VR headsets that aren't made by huge privacy invading companies like Apple and Facebook. I'd like his opinion on the bigscreen beyond. But he really doesn't seem like the type to build his own PC or cover anything that isn't super slick and popular. Oh well, I'm here for the Vision Pro stuff at least. Don't care about phones at all.
@@toknowwhyuneed3593 Yeah, he's the guy who pretty much pioneered phone reviews and such, he's the leader in this smartphone channel space with others like Mrwhosetheboss. This was a fantastic and thorough unboxing of the Apple Vision Pro. The detail you went into about all of the components, especially the Zeiss lenses, was really helpful. Can't wait for the followup videos on setting it up and using it.
The prescription lenses part is crazy! For anyone who isn't nearsighted and used VR, yes, you need to wear your glasses. It's kind of impressive in a way, considering it's a screen that should be in your range of vision.
The lens in VR headsets make the screens optically far away. You can get prescription lenses for most of the other popular headsets on the market and some newer headsets just let you adjust the lenses to your prescription or do it automatically.
I wear glasses but with the PS5 VR I don’t need my glasses on the screen is right in front of my eyes. It’s close enough that I can see just fine. When I game on the tv I need my glasses not with the VR.
are you sure you don't mean AR? i never had trouble with VR without glasses even though my left eye is like -5 or something, just really bad and i could see vr just fine
I have a strong astigmatism and Zeiss is currently unable to make lenses for me. Which is really disappointing considering I have similarly strong prescription inserts for my Valve Index that work perfectly. I'm just hoping the pairing process for the lenses isn't actually necessary.
The weight of a device with a 3166 mAh battery can be greater than that of a device with a 5000 mAh battery if the former operates at a higher voltage. Voltage, alongside mAh, influences a battery's size and weight. Higher voltage often means increased battery materials, leading to a larger, heavier battery. Therefore, a battery's weight is determined by both its mAh capacity and voltage, not mAh alone.
To expand on your argument: The physical size of a battery is strongly related to its energy capacity [Wh]. Not its charge capacity [mAh]. Voltage [V] * Electric Charge [mAh] = Energy [Wh] Here are some capacities of Apple devices: 2 Wh: Apple Watch Ultra, 9 Wh: iPhone 12/13 mini, 17 Wh: iPhone 15 Pro Max, 19 Wh: iPad mini, 36 Wh: Vision Pro, 41 Wh: iPad Pro 12.9", 53 Wh: MacBook Air 13.6", 100 Wh: MacBook Pro 16 So the Vision Pro has more than twice the capacity of an iPhone, similar capacity to an iPad and less than MacBooks
@@poiiihy in the same way that mAh doesn't really convey the actual size or energy capacity of the battery, Wh doesn't really convey the battery life relative to the device it's powering. By looking at the mAh you can tell roughly the Vision Pro should last something like half as long as a phone doing the same activities.
@@theblazinggolemcool but what u want me to do.?? Stalk him every time ?? Or remove my comments?? And that comment was for others who dont stalk him ..fan boi
mAh isn't really a great representation of the energy capacity of a battery because the voltage could be different depending on the pack. A phone typically has a nominal battery voltage of 3.7v for your average LiPo cell, the battery for the Vision Pro may have multiple cells giving a higher voltage (7.4v for example). Watt-hours (Wh) would be a more representative comparison between this battery and others.
Me neither I never understand the obsession with mAh. Maybe because it is printed on every power bank and people getting used to it. Like fahrenheit or kcal. @@Tanner404
As a long time VR user and lover, one of the things that immediately pokes out to me about this is that it doesn't look any sillier on the person than the average pair of ski goggles
It looks a little more silly in my opinion but not as ridiculous as I thought. What will really look fucked up is when it shows your eyes to other people though lol
There are a number of companies that already do this for existing VR headsets. Just recently picked up a pair of prescription lenses for my Quest 3, so this isn't exactly new or groundbreaking. They've been around for years. They're literally just prescription lenses housed in plastic with magnets lol
Don't forget that mAh is a measure of current, not power. You need to know the Watt hours of the battery to be able to compare it to other phone and USB battery bank capacities. I'd guess it is 3166mAh @ 14.8V (4S configuration), so it's actually 46.85Wh or 12664mAh if it were being listed at 3.7V (1S) like you would see on a phone or battery bank.
Apple shipped them a custom screen recorder tool model for that exact purpose . everyone who is making videos on the VP right now has the same model for showcasing
It's good they take the time to make it easier for their marketing Army, aka 'Influencers,' to showcase an acceptable review of this experimental product.
5:15 my best guess is that it’s a 3s or 4s battery which uses multiple cells in series for higher voltage output so 3166 mah makes sense as for watt hours you have to multiply the battery capacity with the voltage of the cell so that you get the total energy capacity of the battery.
What if (read full) they make it like glass like normal glass but just like battery goes separately maybe also hardware could be Like hardware in backpack(small as possible) 😌 and just light weight and super slim glass on your face, no limitations of space, more battery life. 😊

Apple don't ever miss an opportunity when it comes to price gouging for storage, even on a product with a starting price of $3499. Colour me surprised.
I mean, to be fair they probably have countless dollars invested in R&D for the vision pro that they have to make back and if people are already paying that much, they're probably willing and able to pay more for storage. Still bad, but definitely more excusable than on the iPhones, Macs and iPads
To be fair most people that are buying this product are developers, most likely the non pro and cheaper version would come in 1 to 2 years down on the line when many developers have already released their apps .
@@jeremyb5862They do not with the vision pro tho, materials costs are estimated at 1500$, while the production of each one costs more than 500$. Don‘t forget all the billions of R&D costs too.

5:20 mAh are not indicative for the capacity when you don’t know the voltage. Many phones run on something between 3-4V which is why you can somewhat compare that. Most powerbanks run on 3,7V since its a standard voltage for a widely used cell-format. Given its size, I assume the Apple Vision Pro runs on something around 12V which is a common voltage for the used components. This will mean the powerbank has 12V x 3.166 Ah = 38 Wh Watthours, which is a more comparable value. The 16“ MacBook Pro has 99 Wh, which is the legal limit you can take on a plane.
5:15 yes it’s 3000mAh, but remember it’s a 13V battery, so multiply those to get the true capacity in mWh. Phone batteries are much lower voltage (~3.7V) so 3000-5000mAh at that voltage is way less capacity

I don't know if it's true but I would feel like doing that wouldn't be good for the Apple Vision Pro because you could cause you maybe the system to crash ? Who knows cuz it's kind of like a computer they don't want you to shut the power off they want you to properly shut it down. About the weight vs battery capacity at 5:14: Something to keep in mind is that mAh is only one of two components for measuring power (the other being voltage). So the voltage might be much higher (eg 18v) to provide more capacity (w=va), vs a smart phone battery that is at 3.7v - 4.2v. Or maybe they've included some lead to make it feel more luxury.
considering it's rated for like 3-4 hours, and it's got two chips, one computing and the other for sensors, it's probably got a higher voltage than a regular phone. But it's still not a lot, and since they made it external anyway, they couldve made it a bit bigger..
@@vk.7165 And since it's external, they still might.

To expand on your argument:
The physical size of a battery is strongly related to its energy capacity [Wh]. Not its charge capacity [mAh].
Voltage [V] * Electric Charge [mAh] = Energy [Wh]
Here are some capacities of Apple devices:
2 Wh: Apple Watch Ultra,
9 Wh: iPhone 12/13 mini,
17 Wh: iPhone 15 Pro Max,
19 Wh: iPad mini,
36 Wh: Vision Pro,
41 Wh: iPad Pro 12.9",
53 Wh: MacBook Air 13.6",
100 Wh: MacBook Pro 16
So the Vision Pro has more than twice the capacity of an iPhone, similar capacity to an iPad and less than MacBooks
quantifying both voltage and mAh is quite literally what Wh is measuring lol
@@floriang2801thank you, came to say this if it wasn't explained already and you've done much better than i would have
Why don't they just put the watt hour rating, the amp hours are useless and misleading!
@@poiiihy in the same way that mAh doesn't really convey the actual size or energy capacity of the battery, Wh doesn't really convey the battery life relative to the device it's powering. By looking at the mAh you can tell roughly the Vision Pro should last something like half as long as a phone doing the same activities.

mAh isn't really a great representation of the energy capacity of a battery because the voltage could be different depending on the pack. A phone typically has a nominal battery voltage of 3.7v for your average LiPo cell, the battery for the Vision Pro may have multiple cells giving a higher voltage (7.4v for example). Watt-hours (Wh) would be a more representative comparison between this battery and others.
Wh is a better metric even for smartphone batteries I don't understand why they use mAh
Yeah it has to be checked, it can't be so small
Nobody uses Wh because it's not impressive. Nothing to do with accurate representation. The average consumer don't know and don't care.
So glad someone pointed this out. Kind of embarrassing for a tech youtuber to be stumped by this :)

Still bad, but definitely more excusable than on the iPhones, Macs and iPads

mAh are not indicative for the capacity when you don’t know the voltage.

Their is a slight mistake in the video at 5:12, you said it was 3166 milliampere hour (mAh) but top left it is labeled as 3166 Mega Amp hours (MAH)
Wrapping it vertically as opposed to horizontally is potentially because of issues with the cable being directly wired to the battery, and not wanting to damage that connection, ergo they suggest leaving slack so the cable doesn't get damaged at that section.
