@@CelebratingAppalachia It must be a gift to have a sweet, loving MIL. She must be as beautiful on the inside as she is outside. The Wilsons & the Pressleys, both, hit the jackpot. Thx for sharing, Miss Cindy.
Miss Cindy was a beautiful gal. Glad I found this video. My mom died at 95 and looked stunning until the end. Miss Cindy puts me in the mind of my mom in that manner. Thanks!!
God I miss the Old Southern living. Miss Cindy reminds me of the Ladies that I grew up with as a young boy in rural Virginia. Class, integrity, commanding respect. God bless that Lady.😃
Oh, yes, you are so right! My family is from southern Virginia and I remember the ladies exactly that way, too. Such good manners and the soft, sweet, southern way of speaking. And, no better cooks anywhere!
Mrs Cindy 😉 I would never expect her to say, yada yada yada... I'm sure she was proud to this traditional family methods of cooking a ham. And she is right, ham should taste like him, not like candy or anything else 😉
Thank you Miss Cindy, this video is very precious especially now. It was lovely to meet Miss Cindy in this video, she was beautiful inside and out, a wonderful lady I can see that. I'm so grateful that this video exists as I'm sure you are also Tipper and Matt, and the girls. Family is a precious gift. I know you are all in pain and hurting I am praying for you. I saw this video referenced after Miss Cindy’s passing. What a beautiful treat to put a lovely face with the person Tipper and family have talked about so much. I somehow knew she would be so beautiful and sweet. RIP Miss Cindy ❤
Once again, it is the night before a holiday, and I am frantically searching through your videos, I can't fix a holiday ham without watching the video of Miss Cindy fixing the ham. Again, thanks for sharing Miss Cindy with us.
Mrs. Cindy is a beautiful lady. It was so good meeting her. There is something about simplicity that allows the main ingredient to shine. That is one fine looking plate of food.
I appreciate this because I want to be able to make gravy with those drippings and I don't care for gravy when it has a sweet glaze all over it. This is what we are having for Christmas dinner ☺️
Does Miss Cindy, Granny, brother Paul, Corrie& Austin all live close by? How fortunate and each of you so multi talented. And Tipper began it all by sharing her love. No wonder the girls stay close to home!
Looks delicious! Mama always does a ham like this at Easter, also served with potato salad and green beans. One of my favorite meals of the year for sure!
That was a nice surprise to see Mrs. Cindy. I'm so sorry she wasn't able to find a way to repair her beloved pan. I hope she kept it and put it up somewhere. The ham looked delicious and so did everything else. Can't beat potato salad with ham.
Mrs Cindy is such a pretty lady and so refined in her speech and mannerisms. You sure have nice looking ladies in your family . I am making my next ham exactly like this and enjoy the rich smoked flavor. Thanks for sharing 😊
My piano teacher gave me a Victorinox paring knife one Christmas and teased me saying "The knife is so sharp you'll be sure to cut yourself and you won't have to practice piano!" Still using that little knife twenty-five years later. Miss Cindy is a pretty lady and you are, too. Love your videos.
Oh. My. Goodness! This crazy easy method inspired me to cook my very first ham and have never tasted better in my 70 years of life. Being on a roll, I tried making ham salad with it and am addicted!! 🎉 Miss Cindy was so kind to take the time to share how simple she does it and to have such stellar results. Wow! ❤🌻💖
I’m from a state that produces a lot of pork (Iowa). Our pork producers work very hard to bring quality meat to market. That ham looks so good, and it was fun to see Miss Cindy. I love making ham and scalloped potatoes with leftover ham. Ham and cabbage, onions, carrots, and potatoes (boiled dinner) is also great.
I grew up in Indiana and my mother loved scalloped potatoes and ham, so she liked to make it with leftover ham. As a child I HATED it and now I'd give anything to have it again, made by mother. I'm 67, my mother is gone and I haven't had it in probably 50 years! You just reminded me of that and how spoiled I must have been! Though not TOO spoiled. Mom had a strict "This is what I made for dinner - take it or leave it" policy! LOL
Every time you dish up a plate like this and put it in front of the camera, I think, …. Well, hand it on over friends. It just looks SO GOOD! Lol. This was an amazing video. I tend to cook my ham too long. My next one is going to look just like yours, 🥰
It was such a nice treat to get to see more of Miss Cindy. She is such a beautiful lady. That ham, green beans, potato salad and rolls sure looks delicious. Seems like I recall that my husbands grandmother had some kind of little o'ring type things she used to repair her porcelain pans, thats been nearly 30 years ago.
My wife loves watching your channel . And learning your recipes and purchased your cook book. We bought a ham like you cook and tried the recipe and it's great thank you for sharing

I lived in Old Fort at the bottom of the mountain from Black Mountain when my children were born.At the time there wasn't much there but it's turned into quiet an arts community, keeping the town alive.
Thank you, Tipper for another wonderful video. I bake my ham like Miss Cindy does. Yummy! I also cut the skin up and use that for seasoning pinto beans and other things, and also use the bone. Nothing better!
Dang I missed this wonderful dinner. My mouth was watering. Thank you and Matt for sharing your precious mothers with up. God bless you all and have a wonderful 😮✝️♥️🙏
It's good to be able to see Miss Cindy and to learn how she cooks. That baked ham made me hungry even though I just finished eating a big hunk of juicy beef roast. Good food, excellent mountain stories, and that soulful mountain music can't be beat. Thank all of you for doing that
That ham, potato salad, beans and biscuits looked soooooo good. I almost cried as memories came flooding back of all us kids and grand kids gathered around the table. Mom made our plates starting with the little ones first, then the older kids. Don't know how she remembered what each ones favorite food was but she always put a little bit more of that on our plates. Thank you for the memory.
Miss Cindy is a pretty lady indeed We enjoyed this and it’s very much like how we do it at our home We were saying that we should put one in right before Church and it would be ready for the family to come over afterwards when we get home in two hours It would work especially well with potato salad and coleslaw rolls and butter where we didn’t need other hot sides Of course we could have beans in the crockpot Tipper you offer up some great ideas We did this with a spiral like you mentioned at Christmas and used the leftovers for breakfast meats most of the week It was delicious Thanks God Bless
What a beautiful woman, inside and out. This sure explains why Matt is such a gentleman and all around wonderful guy. She will leave behind an amazing legacy. Prayers for all of you as you navigate the next (and maybe last) miles of your journey together as a family. ❤️🙏❤️
Oh my gosh, I loved finally seeing miss Cindy! Her silver hair is gorgeous! I hope my hair turns out like hers…I’m going gray at 58….I love that the girls had a sweet grandma, my memories of shopping with my grandma are the best I have. I love ham, and now I’m craving it, we make ham with the mustard brown sugar glaze, it is so yummy!
So good to revisit this with the amazing, Miss Cindy. Love the way the ham tuned out ! The smokey , enhanced flavor doesn’t need a glaze . Mmm mmm good
Thank you for showing us another feast you and the girls prepared. Also thanks to Mrs.Cindy for showing us her way of baking the delicious ham. I'd like to have a plate of that about now! We fix a New England boiled dinner at our home. It's a picnic ham with carrots, cabbage and potatoes all cooked together in the same pot. That was always my Dad's specialty and I have kept it going for my family.
This was so interesting. Mum used to encase the ham in a dough mixture and slow cook it, then she had to get dad to come in with his hammer to open the dough up, but it was cooked lovely inside there. Cheers from Wendy
I've been in charge of making the ham for the holidays, in our family, since my great grandma passed in 2010 (and a little before). I boil the ham for a while and when it seems ready, about an hour usually, I put it in a baking pan and bake it. I do put a Coca-Cola glaze on the outside of it, but that's just mainly for looks. It only adds a little sweetness and it would be fine without it. I prefer the shank to the butt ham, just seems like it has more flavour and I cut up the bits and save the bone to cook with the rest of the winter. Thanks so much for sharing with us, Mrs. Tipper! Mrs. Cindy seems like a really nice lady, plus it looks like she's a Cat Lady, like me! Looks like there might be a spoiled kitty somewhere around. Mine Love ham, they'd rather have ham than any seafood out there!
Must be something in the air, I just baked a ham last Sunday. I agree with the others Miss Cindy is a gorgeous lady. Your whole family is uncommonly good looking.
That sounds like a wonderful ham. Our family likes our ham just the way you cook it. We don't want any glazes. We just want ham baked and cooked like it comes. We do not like sweet ham. We enjoyed the flavors of a ham without all of the other seasoning or glazes. I would love to see Miss Cindy's father's potato salad recipe and some of her other recipes. How long do you cook your ham? Do you cook it for 20 minutes per pound? We always put water in ours, too. It keeps it moist. Another thing we do is save that ham broth. I can take that ham broth and season my other food with at different times and different recipes.
I didn't get to learn much cooking from my mother before she passed away, so I've mostly been figuring it out myself over the years. I had been looking up different ham recipes but didn't know who to trust - the way Miss Cindy and you do it is a way I know I can trust so I'll have to give it a try. Thank you!
All ham brands I've used this past few years have quite a bit of water. I will put it over a charcoal smoker and seal the pan well with heavy duty foil. I will add a little water or broth to get it started but have it almost full of water that has been rendered. This really intensifies the ham taste. The ham is close to falling apart. It's great this way too but I like to pull the foil and throw a wood chunk on the coals and get some smoke on. Not a true smoking but added flavor! Going to do this today! 😍😍😍 God bless all here
Thank you!! I'm from California and my roommate here in Mississippi made the best ham ever last Christmas, then he died in February 😢 I'm making this ham for Christmas in his memory. I'm 52 and never cooked a ham before. Thank you!!
That is one beautiful ham! My grandfather baked a Sunday ham about once a month, in much the same manner, but with a couple tweaks. I wish I could remember what he did, because he made the BEST gravy from the drippings. I know he added Kitchen Bouquet to the gravy, and maybe a little brown sugar, but none of us has been able to recreate it. He's been gone almost 30 years, and I can still taste that ham and gravy. The other Sundays it was roast beef, we would poke fun at Pop because he always cooked the heck out of it. But it was never dry, and the gravy was fantastic too. All he did was pour a package of Lipton onion soup on it with a couple cups of water. The slurry to thicken it was just AP flour in water. Little salt and pepper, that's it.
Hi Tipper , Cori & Ms Cindy Great memories ,family gatherings & tasty food ❤nothing better than that . Ms Cindy sure is pretty !! Tipper I always use my ham bone in my soup beans … it’s so delicious with a pan of corn bread 😋 Take care

My Mom made ham just like that. I still do. We’d take the juice and make ham gravy. It’s so yummy!
God bless all here
Thank you!! I'm from California and my roommate here in Mississippi made the best ham ever last Christmas, then he died in February 😢 I'm making this ham for Christmas in his memory. I'm 52 and never cooked a ham before. Thank you!!
I’m so sorry you lost him. Love that you’re making it in his memory!
That looks good. I love ham at Christmas. It was so nice finally meeting Mrs. Cindy.
Wow Miss Cindy is quite a looker. She's beautiful. Enjoyed the video
The world needs more Mrs. Cindy videos. When did she live in Black Mountain?
Thank you! It’s been about 10 years since she lived there 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia Do any of Matt's Pressleys live in Black Mountain now? One of my mother's cousins is married to one.
@@davidhensley76 Not that I know of but there might be one 😀
