  • In this video we go over how to install the high speed gears in the 2017 Yamaha Drive2 Quietech golf cart. These gear sets are fairly easy to install with just a good set of hand tools. We do recommend also considering installing a Clutch Performance Kit as well to help with low end torque.

    I bought a 2022 PTV and stock it would hit 24 to 25 mph with the governor pretty much turned all the way up. I put 8:1 high speed gears and now she goes 33 mph. I also put a tach on it and wide open the engine is only turning 2900 to 3100 rpm. Next step, Nitrous.....OK, not really. I'm real happy with my Yami and yes, I'm also in FLA. More and more areas are allowing golf carts on the roads down here. They are everywhere. I say move your operation down hear and you'll be much happier.

      I would like to move our operation down there. You guys definitely have a lot better weather year-round than we do here in Kansas, but our cost of living here is pretty cheap!
      Did you get those gears from us?

    I have a 2015 Yamaha gas 4+2 seater fuel injected and doing about 14mph. I just purchased this used. Governor is adjusted already. Any thoughts? I’d like to go up in speed abit more

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  6 месяцев назад

      You should be able to get a couple more mph than that. Have you checked your throttle cable adjustment to make sure you are getting full throttle? What size tires do you have?
      If you want to be able to get 20+ mph, you will have to do high speed gears, but they will hurt your bottom end torque a bit. So a clutch performance kit might be needed as well.

    Question.....do you carry gear sets for a Yamaha UMAX 2 Rally 2+2 Golf Car?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  Месяц назад

      The UMAX models use the same gears as the Drive2 solid axle models. However, we haven't been able to determine for sure which gears the UMAX come with from the factory. I know we have had customers install our high speed gears in their UMAX, but it seems like they only gained a couple mph.

    Did all of the 2012 PTV come with high speed gears?

  • @vdubing01

    I have a 2021 ptv 6 seater. 4+2 seating. Quietech. With that many passengers expected do you think mine came with the higher gears or geared down for all those passengers? Any thoughts?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  7 месяцев назад

      I would guess that you would have the standard fleet gears. With 20" tires and the governor turned most of the way up, if you are getting 20 mph or so then you have fleet gears. If you are getting 24 or so, then you have PTV gears.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan

      Sorry, we did not get a before and after test on this one. Yes, a Yamaha dealer (or any golf cart repair shop) should be able to install these gears for you.

    I can’t seem to find any info anywhere, but can you remove the efi and downgrade to the carb easily?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  4 месяца назад

      No. You would have to change a ton of parts. Would probably be cheaper to just buy a carbureted cart. You really wouldn't gain anything by doing that either.

    Help me out. I want to speed up a Yamaha Drive2 Quietech and I like to do a lot of research before and I have watched this video. So I looked up Yamaha parts diagram for PTV and fleet and those gear numbers are the same what am I missing?

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  6 месяцев назад

      No, the part diagrams do not show the correct part number for the PTV gears. Also, the gears that we sell do not come from Yamaha, they are aftermarket, but the ratio is similar to the PTV gears.

    If I were an expert gas Yamaha guy like you, I would ditch Kansas and set up shop in the land that has a community of 165,000 people the vast majority of whom not only own and drive gas Yamahas, but have the money (pay) to modify them. The Villages, Florida. If you haven't googled that place up, or been for a weekend visit, you are missing a gold mine.

    • @PowerEquipmentMan
      @PowerEquipmentMan  8 месяцев назад +1

      On average, we ship at least 1 to 5 orders per day to The Villages and surrounding area. I do plan on making a trip down there to visit in the next year or two. Florida definitely seems like it is where all the action is at. I think I saw a stat the other day stating that it is the fastest growing state in the US.
      Two big issues;
      1. From what I understand, that whole area is very protected by the local servicing Yamaha dealers. So I couldn't just show up and setup a new Yamaha shop (Yamaha wouldn't sell me carts or parts directly).
      2. Convincing my family to pack up and move half-way across the country hasn't worked out so well!
      Thanks for watching!

      @@PowerEquipmentMan There appears to be plenty of competition. The big elephant is The Villages-owned golf cart shops and gas stations. There is one in every town square (building their 4th now) and elsewhere. However, their prices are high and many shop just outside The Village. I'm not here as a business advisor, I'm just here to point you to a massive pool of customers but you already are aware of them.
