I've been a Dem my whole adult life but Red Pilled this election, which puts us at opposing sides now technically. He can at least understand this, which is better than your average Dem (I explained this to him) Trump is the right wing's Bernie, and that the issue they have in common is that they both challenge the military industrial complex (and wealth inequality with it). During my trips to local gun shops, a lot of older gentlemen only own a couple shotguns, couple rifles (almost all have 22lr), maybe 1 or 2 handguns 1 being 22lr. Younger generation has bunches of firearms. I remember somewhere hearing younger democrats are against gun ownership. But older democrats have at least a handgun. Seems like the younger people of any political party own less than their older friends or relatives. My grandfather was Democrat and own a 22lr revolver and 12ga bolt action shotgun and single shot 22lr. Seems like back in the day firearms were used to feed family or get rid of pest. AND, it's like all they needed and it worked great.

As part of my job I am in and out of gun stores in a large city plus 3 surrounding counties. What I am seeing is lots of black women in the stores buying multiple firearms and large amounts of ammo. My state trooper buddy tells me they buy them then turn them over to their gangster boyfriends. While they still mostly buy handguns they are now buying mostly rifles and shotguns. I asked several of the salesmen if they were aware this was going on and they all did but to them a sale is a sale.

It doesn’t surprise me that more self-identified democrats are purchasing firearms given the expansion of 2A rights by the SCOTUS and the staggering increase in mass shooting-type events without any meaningful response from republicans or conservative-majority courts. I’ve been a gun owner/user most of my life, but watching the rise of militia groups and their overt use of armed intimidation at protest convinced me to purchase my first AR and begin training in its use.
Personally, I wouldn't use "group" memberships when analyzing gun ownership: The results are always error-prone because people are individuals. No one likes to be seen as a "group" member: We want to be viewed as individuals. That's partly why I don't belong to the NRA: That organization routinely demonizes Democrats or Californians or "progressives" as anti-gun ownership, but I'm a Democrat and a Californian and a "progressive" who also is a gun owner and a CCW permit holder for over three decades. If we take the time to realize that many of us dislike "negative" group identities which rob us of our unique individual identities, we might begin to close that chasm that currently divides many Americans. Hence, beware of using those plural pronouns like "they" and "us" unless your goal is to treat others in a way that you wouldn't want for yourself.

You are completely mistaken on your figures. There are 450+ million guns out there and the vast majority that bought those guns are conservatives. There may be 13 million liberals that own guns but many of them only have one gun. You also need to find out how many unregistered voters or independent voters. Out in the country, kids have guns, don't fool yourself. That 48% stat is very low, most lie to the people doing surveys.

You are completely mistaken on your figures. There are 450+ million guns out there and the vast majority that bought those guns are conservatives. There may be 13 million liberals that own guns but many of them only have one gun. You also need to find out how many unregistered voters or independent voters. Out in the country, kids have guns, don't fool yourself. That 48% stat is very low, most lie to the people doing surveys.
