I worked in the Ammo business, & I'm not convinced prices are going through roof... It may go up, but not by much... There are 2 New Ammo Companys here in the USA, that are going TO STEP UP TO COVER WHAT WE NEED...
No they won't because those who produce the primers and components will raise prices to compensate. They want their ammo to sell, so they'll raise those prices until it makes it the same cost to reload as it is to buy new ammo. Kinda already is that way now
The area ,where we live ..for long time reloading supplies were unable. All selves in even pawn shops were empty ( they usually sold to keep business flowing)
We just make our own gunpowder from charcoal, bananas and sulphur. And we've been casting our own bullets too. Using copper or brass for the bullet instead of lead. It's not that difficult to just make our own these days. Ammo people are way overpriced.
Let's be real; inflation is out of control. No administration can fix it. Therefore, the natural consequence is for prices on everything to go up. The Congress will simply NOT STOP overspending. Recall that only one statesman in contemporary history had the balls to cancel an unsustainable debt (Treaty of Versailles) and issue debt-free currency, but he was soundly defeated by the capitalists to the west, and the communists to the east.
Our entire economy is based on supply and demand. Ammo companies can raise their prices as much as they want, but if people refuse to pay high prices those companies will be forced to lower their prices to what people are willing to pay.
Last time we had affordable, available ammo and components was during Trump 45.... I really look for prices to drop by summer. I expect supplies to loosen up too.
Prayer request for my wife. Her Mother passed away the day before Thanksgiving. It was very hard for her and she is hurting. Prayers for her comfort, especially as we approach this first Christmas for her without her Mom.
Price of ammo keeps going up I guess a person will be able to afford about two boxes of ammo per month.. I don't know where everyone else is buying their ammo but here in Arkansas it's not cheap
Funny, I think I commented on another of your videos about primers yesterday. I stated the awesome fact that prices of White River Energetics primer prices have gone DOWN and I noticed yesterday that they have a recent primer addition for sale that is even cheaper than their usual small pistol primers. These othet small pistol primers do not have any plating on the metal cup of the primer. These primers are 4% cheaper than their regular small pistol primers. But they still sell both. Awesome thinking White River!! Saving us consumer reloaders money! Another fact that I discovered today is that Winchester small pistol primers are being sold in bulk (5,000 packs) at American Reloading at the same price as White River is being sold on another site! So if American Reloading is selling the Winchester primers for a lower price than they could before, it is extremely likely that they paid a lower price to the distributors, who must have paid a lower price from Olin/Winchester. Capitalism at work, free market at work, supply and demand brings down prices (once we all stopped or stop choosing to buy at the inflated primer prices of the past few years)!
White River Energetics primer prices (rifle primers) are still too high. About $100 per 1k. I can get CCi or Winchester rifle for $89 (sometimes at the same store.)
@@440jim4that’s high, I agree. Things are getting better, small pistol primers being the most popular consumer reloader primer so prices are lower for them; getting closer, getting there!

Tariff increases are pending for Canada, Mexico, and China. Not much ammo imported from those. Yes, some from Mexico. That a European company now owns Vista means nothing unless they move the production out of the U.S. The ammo produced here - no tariffs. I suspect the greater forces driving prices are general inflation (thank you, Brandon) and increasing government demand. Why is the Department of Education buying firearms and ammunition?
Ammo sellers telling everybody about hot sales but the sale price is the exact same for the past two years. Let them increase the price, see how well they do.
Remember a few years ago when ammo doubled, and people bought because they might not get to later ?? People will complain, but they will still buy all they can.
My first hunting rifle was a Marlin 30-30 back in 1994. At the time I also had a Colt Anaconda and a CZ83. Feeding the pistols back then was a little more pricey than the 30-30... just 12 years ago I went to find 30-30 ammo and HOLY COW! The price of ammo had skyrocketed to twice that of the 44! SO I got into reloading. When the ammo market crashed, I didn't care. Now I have two 45 Colts that I want to enjoy and the price of that is higher than Willy Nelson on a ferris wheel! Going to the gun store here locally, I can't even find it. I dropped by the range yesterday just to help a buddy buy a new rifle and looked for 45 colt ammo while I was there. He had some home defense loads that were acceptable but the price was $48 for 50 rounds. I bought them anyhow, because the last box I got was over $60 just a few months ago. Slowly I'm building up my supply of brass so that I can just reload what I have. As of right now, reloading 45 colt is more expensive than just buying it outright (meaning buying all the brass, primers, powder and bullets) separately...
with the shortage of nitrocellulose coupled with the 200+ % increase of the price of antimony in july which is expected to go up again in 2025 not to mention other materials price increases the cost of ammunition has to increase right along with the increased cost to manufacture it, and with tariff increases most likely going up in 25 this will lead to either bargaining strategies, or price increases, probably both
The Czech group won’t have to raise prices because they’re just buying Vista, not necessarily moving production overseas, which would be expensive for them… it just makes more sense for them to keep producing ammo in the States.
i'm surprised at how few people understand ECONOMICS. When inflation drives prices of virtually everything up, the owners of ammo companies(and every other company) MUST raise their prices. it's economics. you'll never see the prices from 6 years ago again.
