As someone that's worked in engineering and manufacturing my entire life as well as being a firearm enthusiast these are amazing. I don't think most people realize how difficult making functional miniatures like this actually is.
there are copy milling machines around that can trace the original part and make a scaled copy (nothing to do with cnc, they are purely mechanical), that is not such a big deal, the engraving part however, and the tiny inlays...
jz1199 It's hardly that simple. The main problem is fixturing and tolerancing. It's incredibly difficult to securely hold small parts through the machining operations. Tight tolerancing becomes increasingly important with small parts as well, adding to the complexity. The copying machines you mentioned add additional tolerance stacking giving worse tolerances than the original.
I didn't say it is simple, I bet there would be loads of fixtures to make before you cut actual parts, but tolerances are not really a problem with good quality copy mill, I've seen people use Deckel KF series (German) mills, and they are top notch industrial machines, quite easy to use, and they are not that expensive when you find them, since they have no real production use these days, they were designed and built for production purposes, and if you find yourself in a tight spot to make a tiny copy of an already small part, just "blow up" the original, make it out of plywood and bondo, and then make your tiny part copying it from an enlarged original. I actually want to get one of those copy mills, they are quite cool and flexible machines, but it would probably sit in its spot unused most of the time, since I have manual and cnc milling machines, couple manual lathes, one of which I want to replace with a cnc at some point, surface grinder, sheet metal stuff, couple wood working machines, and no way to expand my home shop any more... :(
Yes, it's a hobby. Those are beautiful pieces and probably have thousands of hours of work in them. In this video, "Fully functional miniature Colt Model 1900 half scale pistol" he talks about a book on these and goes into some interesting details about them. The detail is amazing, it's like the put a full-sized gun in a shrinking machine.
River churnet Woah, dude. Have some self respect. Control yourself. What are you, a child? Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength. Pull yourself together, man, stop acting like such a little tiny baby man. You're embarrassing yourself.
I take it they were to valuable to actually go through the mechanisms of cocking them. I can't believe anyone would want to sell such a work of art as they are rarer than the full size models. The skill to craft them must be so rare , wonderful to see.
Thanks RIA for covering these awesome Miniatures! We shared the video on our Facebook page and sure appreciate your time and effort in bringing this to us fellow Miniature fFrearm lovers...
That first lever gun had me especially firing 22 rounds I would cherish that little thing and have it displayed in a glass case on the dinner table so I could admire it over dinner every evening lol
@Quirin I dont argue whether the stock is/isn't usable. But I also wouldnt buy a miniature firing replica of a rifle and post it on youtube without hsving an ATF ruling on how functional a stock has to be before being considered a stock. That's also why I worded it as a question, rather than saying "THIS IS ILLEGAL!"
@@marcush4741 no.. these are not fire arms... Either way.. 22 isn't even worth the governments time.. seriously... They haven't before.. why would they now care about 22
Beautiful beautiful beautiful stunning I love miniature things especially miniature firearms but like somebody has already put in the comments they always are lots and lots of money
You need the precision of a watchmaker as a matter of fact several small pistols in the early 1900s were made by watch manufacturers. 2mm kolibri pistols for an example. German watchmakers.
Our upcoming auction is Online Only and typically those auctions have a smaller selection of items, but our February Regional Auction is right around the corner and we may have some miniature firearms in that catalog. Here is the link to our website, our February catalog should be going live by the end of this month. www.rockislandauction.com/gun-auctions/
RUclips does not play nice with links and guns. However, if you search "miniature firearms rock island auction" you will find all sorts of them. Replace "firearms" with the model you're looking for and it should come up pretty quickly.
Yessir. There are machine guns in .22LR and those are definitely still registered with the ATF. Machine gun sis a machine gun regardless of caliber, unfortunately.

Why would you marry a beautiful women when you can marry something like this. You may spend more money on these initially, but they cost a lot less than some women will over time! Just kidding, it’s a joke, but seriously. Gorgeous pieces of work. I could sit down for hours with one of these, and just admire it. Fantastically made, right down to the engravings. Something so small, yet amazingly detailed will go down in history as some of the best art forms out there.

Made for sales men to carry round when visiting customers like they used to do with expensive artisan furniture also negates inter-state laws on transporting firearms?? I know Holland and Holland used to do this with their shotguns and rifles.

Under UK law I'd only be able to own the lever action or muzzle loader, even assuming that they weren't chambered for any real cartridge the fact they are theoretically capable of firing something makes them a firearm and thus I'd need a license to possess them.

Question: if the mini henry is a firing model for .22 short, wouldnt it be classified as an SBR?
Or classed as a pistol, I mean you can't really call that a usable stock
It’s not a Henry it’s a Winchester 1866

Can you wind the Thompson magazine?
I love minni guns like this but they always seem to be so much money like 2× to 6× the price of a real one
California gun guy Well, they are about 2-6x as complex to manufacture as real ones. lol
Why is it so expensive, you ask?handmade parts, harder to manufacture because of a smaller size, depends on what is it,does it work,etc...
