I saw the thumbnail and thought about how the McRib has gone (for now), I clicked on the video and the first thing it says was 'it hurts'. Never been a more appropriate start to a volume.
I'd never heard of three of the shows mentioned in the promos here: Free Spirit, Homeroom, and Chicken Soup. Looks like they got all got cancelled mid-season. I guess the other ones like The Wonder Years and Growing Pains stood the test of time. Edited to add: 14:40 Oh Kelly LeBrock, we don't hate you because you're beautiful. We could never hate you. :-)
Chicken Soup's ratings were not that terrible (it placed #10 in the Neilsen ratings for the Fall season) but its lead in was Roseanne which was the #1 rated show at the time. Free Spirit and Homeroom were #78 and #83 in the ratings by comparison. Just for some perspective on how much the network TV viewing audience has shrunk in the last 28 years, the highest rated TV shows today would have been around 50th place back in 1989 with their current viewing audience.

None of the ads here aired during that special...all of the ads here come from episodes of "Free Spirit". And the Grapefruit Juice ad you're referring to comes from an episode that aired 11/5, a week after that special aired. It helps to read the video descriptions.
