Full Interrogation: Hired Hitman in Florida Murder Leads Police to Gun

- Footage from the police interrogation of Luis Rivera shows him attempting to retrace his criminal footsteps, leading authorities to the gun used to kill former FSU professor Dan Markel back in 2014. Rivera was cooperative and answered all of detective's questions. He was arrested for Markel's murder and plead guilty to the crime two days after his arrest. Rivera is currently serving 19 years in prison for his involvement in the Florida homicide. Investigators believe he drove his co-defendant, Sigfredo Garcia, to the crime scene and Garcia pulled the trigger, ultimately killing Markel.

If rivera did not take the plea deal, we won't be here watching Charlie's trial. He's one of the key witness and direct eye witness in this murder plot.
He helped with his confession but the State still had ample evidence to indict others.
They had Charlie without the plea deal.

@@bobabooey4537georgia said no one was talking and so they had nothing to try them before rivera agreed. if you listen to the wondery podcast about this case gives an interesting snapshot of what they had at that point in time which wasn’t much.
Not true
Why does this killer come across almost likable? He does have some sense of values. It’s bizarre. He doesn’t want the kids to witness the shooting. He gets mad when his friend leaves his own kids with a sketchy babysitter. He uses his money to pay his mom’s rent when the other guy is gambling it away. He’s clearly wiser than the other guy. It’s just too bad he was born into this gang. He could have been something. Imagine if he’d been born into a good home and sent to school.
A lot of people in prison aren’t sociopathic-they’re just a victim of their upbringing and circumstances. I’ll bet there are more sociopathic people on Wall Street than in most prisons.
I agree. It's just sad all the way around. I don't feel empathy or bad for him but without the Adelsons this wouldn't have happened.
He is not a good man the moment he decided to take away the father of young children and cause so much destruction in a family just for money and to buy a motorcycle for himself. Of course, the Adelson family are to blame too.

I totally agree! Louis didn't want to kill him and he wasn't the shooter! He was trying to convince the other guy to just rob him, but the other guy said they paid me 30k to kill him!
Louis seems like he has some compassion and goodness in him...if he was raised right he would have been a good guy! He has way more compassion than the whole Adelson family combined! I feel sorry for Luis!

To me he is the only person that I 100% believed. He is the only one that admitted what he did and his story has not changed in all these years. He is not what I think on when I think of a gang leader.

It seems that Wendi was at Dan’s house with her boys in order to show the hitmen the exact house to go to.

Many have commented on the 9 yrs or so it took this case to come to trial. Kudos to Florida’s judicial system…we have to remember…Prosecutors ONLY GET 1 CHANCE IN COURT and I pray Academy Award Actress the Wicked WENDI is next🙏🙏🙏and Fla is done w/this Self Absorbed family once & for All!
(Recently learned about this case & wish I could remember which Podcast had two of Danny & Wendi’s close friends speaking from 3 years ago (interviewed separately, one gal thought steadfast they’d never convict Wendi bc she “is totally innocent”😳while the other hoped Wendi wasn’t involved but her gut told her otherwise👌More importantly: discussed how over the yrs Harry(?)Adelson the father) has been portrayed as somewhat the quiet and nice family member?Both agreed NOT SO, feel he may have been the Mastermind as it was “no secret to many he despised Danny very much!” What a Sick family!!!

Both of the hitmen have been convicted already, so the gun is a moot issue by now.

LR or SG believed "The Lady" was from/in Miami and wanted her kids back (who lived in Tallahassee with Dan ).
KM may have shown SG the beach photo? Or, had SG ever seen or communicated with WA? Delivered a burner phone ahead of schedule? WA always goes out to eat when hitmen were close by; twice (Once in Miami and then in Tallahassee; the same date/time of the murder). SG may have remembered WA from the restaurant in Miami; assumed she lived in Miami? Or, perhaps "somehow" knew she desired to move to Miami and wanted her kids in Miami (too). LR could easily confuse minor details if he too knew WA had been in or from Miami.
But, there are moments when SG or LR may have been in direct contact with WA in real time ... (burner phone, whats app, via KM on whats app with WA or CA). He slips a few times and says "The Lady" said ... okay, said to who (and as needed for him/them).
However, SG or LR seem a little too familiar with Tallahassee. With RICO crimes on the rise in Tallahassee around that time +/- ... difficult to say why LR believed SG had "seen" WA before and where/when. (But, he's not mentioning the restaurant?)
Had either SG or LR talked to WA back in (the summer of) 2013?
Presuming WA wasn't purposefully lying to Jeff - calculated/manipulated framing unless a slip. Or, perhaps projecting the alleged 2013 all options explored onto her brother; if it were perhaps really WA who had explored all options (first) back in the summer of 2013; when WA shortly there after began 'dating' JL (and CA then started 'dating' KM). 2014 -->> Round 2 (or 1)?
JL heard WA say this and correctly.
Whether she was lying, half lying or being 100% truthful JL would have no real way of knowing at the time. But, he perhaps believes her; even with Dan still alife. (WA may have been fishing for Jeff to say something incriminating or bow up about Dan? But, he doesn't after hearing something so vile; regardless if it never happened. Or, comment is just a slip up while talking about something 'confidential'?) Regardless, WA said it. JL heard it.
His perception would/may change drastically over the following weeks upon learning of Dan's actual death AND cause and manner. WA's put JL in a bad position.
Question is will they now give Charlie Adelson the death penalty?
Not as long as they keep picking Jurors who at a crucial time CANNOT bring themselves to convict for Death Penalty…Especially when children are involved ie CO Chris Watts, TX Border Agent stabbed his 19mon illegitimate precious baby boy NINETEEN times…it took just 1 person out of 12 Jurors for Life. Our country must find a way for LESS $$$/T I M E spent on Death penalty cases! Perhaps our MANY SENSELESS homicides would be deterred🙏

The Shooter in between a (~hired/financially promised) Latin King and demanding (cheating) wife ... as LR tells it. Shooter got life. Jurors spared him his life; related to criteria allowed in death penalty cases.
Only 19 yrs..and I doubt he stays in the full time.. usually a 1/3 or so of the time unless the judge states otherwise 🤔

I have to say Rivera comes across as way more likable and human than Wendi...or any member of the Adelsons for that matter. He's being genuine and open whereas Wendi's persona comes across as completely false and phony in her testimonies and police interviews. I wish he hadn't chosen a life of crime. 😢

His testimony was worth it and it lead to the arrest and conviction of Charlie and the arrest of Donna.
As crazy as this sounds. This is the only suspect in this case that I have any respect for. He seems to have some empathy for the victims. He is caught, he knows he’s caught and he is willing to be open & honest. He knows he can’t fool law enforcement and isn’t even going to try to put on a show and try.

That part of the story is shaky. He said that "Wendi" had the two children with her, outside of Dan Markel's house, before noon on the 17th. According to the established timeline, Dan would already have taken the children to their daycare/pre-school that morning. So how would Wendi have them?
