Our family friend was 94 years old the day he passed. He was a real sawmiller. He was still sawing every morning, but Sundays, until the moment he died. He was sitting next to his blade with a file in hand and just slipped away. He was getting things ready before his old brother got there. But, what i was getting to was he didn't have a log turner either. Did it all by hand. It will keep you young, working hard. God bless, Shannon

Nice movie John! Thanks for sharing your “technique” for moving those larger stubborn cants by yourself! A one slice motion picture is well worth it on a big chunk of poplar like that. Keep on keeping on! ZZ Mark

Should Dos: When the log got to the tipping point, the old fashion way would be to put a wedge so the log would not roll too far onto/over the rollers, then shove/slide it farther onto the carriage off the wedge and rollers with the lg Buford cant hook. It would save you all that new fashioned work you would otherwise say is a waste of energy.

@@fricknjeep That log/cant was bigger and was going to over roll your roller set up, thus the need for a wedge to buffer the roll starting slightly higher up than your roller set up, then to ease down onto the rollers. You've (The rollers) stopped the roll since then on a smaller cant. That over roll cant was a good bit taller, and with the added weight high, was able to build more momentum in its topple.

Why didn’t you blah, blah, mumble mumble mumble, grumble, and then sit back and enjoy a cup of favourite flavoured coffee, watch the sunset. It would have been easier.
