We need more artist like her, most music nowadays are kind of rubbish that solely focus on creating catchy rhythm rather than focus on the meaning
A very underrated artist. I feel the way she is underrated however helps her keep more feeling within her work, but I still feel she deserves to get more recognition. She doesn't strike me as the kind of artist who would sell out. What bothers me is that people care about looks, coming here to say she is beautiful while it is her work that is being shown, not her looks. It just makes me cringe to see people caring enough about looks to the point they mention it while they could just acknowledge her work instead
Words! I wish she could blow up but at the same time I want her to do whatever music she wants! Tbh, I am not so sure what her album gonna sounds like or if the new Album is gonna top off "don't look down" (which i think it is going to be a better album since don't look down sounds a bit too popy to me), but i am pretty excited to hear what is she gonna do with the album, I am hoping she will experiment with more different sound and stuff.
boli1707 I loved Don't Look Down, I agree it sounded quite poppy but the lyrics made up for that. Religion and Sunshine are my favourite tracks in it. She has something different, even if Don't Look Down sounded poppy it still has a different feel to it. I think it's because it seems like she really speaks with the instrumentals. Mainstream pop songs seem to have whatever beat and singers just do whatever, but it seems Skylar puts more emotion into what she is doing. She strikes me as someone who cares about her music. I'm really excited for the new album, I am confident that whatever she does with it is gonna be great. She knows what she's doing and she is definitely constantly improving.
+Eaglenz N I don't listen to pop no more, Skylar grey is one of the pop artist (I don't even know if I can considered her as pop artist really) I still follow and listen to, don't look down def sounded different from all the mainstreams, her lyrics is great in that album, the thing I like the most from don't look down, the atmospheric sound are so good, the whole album are trying to get me out of the crazy world, that's just for me tho! And now she has 3 songs out, tbh I am not so sure about off road right now... It is a strange songs for me, maybe it fits right in the album. Def need to hear the whole album, I been wait for this for long time
boli1707 Mainstream pop just feels souless, money becomes a bigger thing every year that passes by so selling out becomes easier, as labels get richer and richer they have more money to offer and people sell out more easily. Just sad. Skylar is somewhat a pop artist but not exactly that, I have seen other definitions for her style but I just call her style "talent" haha. She is multi-talented, she could easily produce an album by herself entirely. Being honest, there isn't a song by Skylar that I don't like. Seriously can't wait for the album, 21 days left! And it's juuuust a little bit of a late birthday gift for me haha

And yeah and label are treating artist like crazy when they don't make money. That's one of the reason why frank ocean went independent for his new album blonde. You should listen to it, it is very different from channel orange. He is trying a lot of new thing on the album for sure! And I am sure her album will be a good birthday gift for you hahaha

I think she’s more known for songs she’s written hooks for and featured on like Love The Way You Lie and I Need A Doctor than her own songs. It’s a shame because she has some excellent music.

Thank you so much for this song I can't explain how it has touched me. I lost 59 lbs and weighed 256 before having gastric bypass in November 2016 I am currently weighing 220 and starting to see what has been hidden for so long. I still have mountains to climb double knees replaced and plastic surgery but songs like this inspire me to see beyond my tunnel vision so thank you Skylar for giving me a world beyond my own.

She has so much talent. I’ve only took notice to her about a year ago and agree she is still underrated. Such a beautiful and strong voice. I especially love her performance on SNL with Eminem. She definitely stole the show with her beauty and talent.

The thing is she is so special that she isn't even looking for fame and bullshit like that. She writes music for the sake of enjoying it and she has a fiancee whom she really loves and they're out camping and having hella lot of fun all the time (I mentioned him cause she literally posts of him 24/7)
I remember in an interview she said she writes about 2 songs per month so basically she doesn't push herself and she just wants to enjoy her career and I exactly remember that she said she isn't doing this for money so she'll write songs whenever she feels like it

Because she has changed her name, that's tricky to do, she's sold songs to other artists, and never truly had a big hit under her own name "Skylar Grey".
That's my best guess.
She doesn't want fame at all, she never appeared in Diddy's video for Coming Home, or for Eminem's "I Need A Doctor" nor has she sang her written part of Rihanna's "Love The Way You Lie", she could've done all those different and became huge. I respect her tho, being mainstream kinda makes the artist's music less from the heart and more for the people's desires
