This reminds me of my beautiful daughter. I was black listed from my entire family, because I'm major Bi Polar. She is the only one that stood by my side, and still does to this day. You are not alone me too I feel it
I was in an emotionally abusive relationship. It was also my first, and she never made it clear where I stood with her. She would push me away, then pull me back. I was gaslighted, insulted, controlled, and changed. I find a lot of the lyrics was stuff that I either asked, or said throughout and after the relationship. “Please be patient and please be kind” “Just at least last the year” “Who the hell was I to you” “who will love you? Who will always follow you, and be there for you?” Plus the winter background of the video just reminds me of New Hope Town; our favorite place to go. She had skinny love for me, and I had real feelings. I hope this song speaks to others the same way it speaks to me

well… I kind of do. I wrote this song 2yrs ago. I thought of it as if “skinny love” is kind of lacking in love and therefore “skinny” the person wasn’t the right fit for you. Trying their best to tell you what you lack and then helping each other in the relationship situation. But in the end having skinny love can have a tendency to become a fuller kind of love. Really don’t know the true meaning of this song but it surely sticks with me for a long time.
