- FINALLY getting around to uploading this! Shot this a while ago, after New Years or something on a snow day. (Lucky!) This is my second recording of this one, and if you look closely, you'll see a jail-bar grille!
It truly sucks that it is inactive but it’s great to have recordings of this legendary system and bolt.
Man I remember watching this video as a child many years ago. Shame to see it's inactive but it is what it is.
Answers to frequently asked questions:
1: siren is still standing, inactive and it does not operate anymore
2: the blower is reverse wired, hence the high pitch
3: there aren't any known plans to remove the siren as of the time this comment was posted
You wouldn’t be able to hear it if it was reversed wired and the 1000 in wampum PA is correctly wired and is higher pitched compared to this one
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 of course you'd be able to hear it if it was reverse wired (which it is). It has every characteristic of a reverse wired thunderbolt too
I am aware of Wampum's unit. That one is correctly wired... not sure how it's relevant to this one though
@@thespiritstingray9359 it’s relevant because it’s higher pitched and would be more prone to be reverse wired compared to the lytle 1000 but is correctly wired so what does it mean for the lytle 1000 to also be reverse wired like the wampum 1000
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 pitch between the two doesn't matter. Both have 6m blowers and only wampum's unit has the distinct pulse you'd hear on a 6m unlike lytle's. Wampum probably has the chopper hooked up to higher voltage than lytle's explaining the higher pitch. The pitch between the two doesn't determine whether one is reverse wired or not. Wampum's is correctly wired, this one is reversed. Not that hard to understand
@@thespiritstingray9359 ok well I normally hear that pulse from a 6m but I didn’t hear it on wampum’s
Gotta love the high tap settings!
Great video! I love hearing the 4/5 port 1000T in the background, and this seems like it may be a little lower pitched than the Mt. Airy 1000, but idk if it's just the distance or what
You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby round round round round
I feel like the blower on this one isn't reverse wired because the chopper doesn't stop briefly during the wind down, like it usually does when the blower is wired backwards. It keeps a steady pace throughout. My best guess is that the chopper is just set on level 7.
I disagree, the wind-down is way to slow for it not to be reverse wired, same for the wind-up- it is way too slow
+SirensOfCinncinatti
Elizabeth_958 Another thing is, the camera is far back and you may not be able to hear the volume change. Unless it is an air leak somewhere.
It is not reverse-wired, and that has been proven by several siren enthusiasts, including SirensOfCinncinatti and 4J25, both of whom LIVE in this area and have seen this siren UP CLOSE AND IN PERSON
I guess we will never know until someone looks at the set up
Man that thing sounds eerie, especially in attack.
Instead of Thunderbolt 1000 more like Thunderbolt 2001
Spinning pretty fast
IS THIS JAILBAR! I could've sworn this was a 2001 at first. lol. Park Place?
Yes
OH MY GOD! JAIL BAR GRILLE THUNDERBOLT! Its the RAREST siren known to MAN!
Roush Hawley Ummmm Have you heard of the Square-Horn ACA Hurricane? THOSE are the rarest Sirens known to man!
Mikey No the ACA Arlictronic 1500
No the aca alatronic 5000 or Chrysler sirens from before the victory
2001_master it’s a joke from a video lol
LONG LIVE THE TBOLT
StrikerTheFoxy more like long dead the tbolt..
@@deaderthandead1182 shut up this siren is hella amazing

Jailbar can R.I.P
2:15 Newport Modulator audible in Alt Wail (I think)
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHY THUNDERBOLT 1000 IS HIGHER PITCHED THAN OTHER THUNDERBOLTS?
Cause it's only one little chopper
+BOB!theGMObanana single tone. Only one array of ports instead of a ratio.
+Jr Espinoza actually 1 large chopper the ports are huge and the sound carries further than a 1000t
Sirens & Gaming thank u for telling me I'm a siren freak but I still don't know alot of things
Jr Espinoza no prob
Can someone tell me where in the hell is this thing mounted
Didn't know we still had those in operation! I thought I heard a Thunberbolt on the March test and then I drove by the ATFD and the Thunderbolt was facing a different direction than it had been.
Got the pitch of an SRNB
Holy fuck that ambiance is creepy!
is the siren old in Hamilton county thunderbolt 1000T
That is far away you got a good zoom
sounds like a 2001 SRN
There is a 2001 in Covington KY
hope it was not not replaced, its a rare jail-bar Thunderbolt 1000
Unfortunately it hasn't sounded during the past tests. I hate to say it, but it's the end of an era for Thunderbolts in Hamilton county. Only 2 remain active and will not be fixed when they die.
THAT THUNDERBOLT 1000 Is 8RPM
It notified the other 51
Awesome Video.
jailbar
Ray's World indeed
@@deaderthandead1182 geez man I posted this 4 years ago. Lol
Epic
@@SoonerStateSirens1 WHY U ALL REPLYING TO COMMENTS MADE 4 FREAKING YEARS AGO?!
Is Cincinatti getting rid of their t-bolts for a new system? And BTW this siren is REALLY fast and sounds like a 2001.
Josh Mckinnley no it would be too expensive to remove them from the roof of a building
@@vegavgf0369 this one. Is removed.. So no. It's not.
Los The Ghost nope it’s still here just inactive
Nope we don't plan on removing them there was one that was purchased by a private owner a few years ago but other than that they are all there we just use the phone notifications which dont even work half the time I just know if we have a warning if a model 5 a few blocks away in a different county goes off
sounds like a 2001
I just thought of something. After all these years trying to figure out why it's so high pitched, I think I know now. I think it is probably a 6 port single tone rather than the usual 5 port, but I think the blower is running backwards. The wind down is very slow compared to other bolts, and I've heard several other 1000s that wind down much faster when the blower is spinning the right way.
I have heard some 5 port thunderbolts even more high pitched than this one. But there are rumors that 6 ported thunderbolts exist and that this is one of them
Andy Thompson the blower is not wired backwards
6 port 1000s? I have never heard of them and if I might say I will never believe they exist until I am physically proved.
@@Elizabeth-ts4om agreed
It's reversed-wired, notice the slow wind up and wind down, and there's no such thing as a 6 port chopper for these
Sounds like a FS 2001-130 lol
How much faster can this thing go?! This is the fastest rotating siren I've ever seen.
It has three rotator speed levels 2rpm, 4rpm which is the most common and 8 rpm. This one is set to rotate at 8rpm
Wow
It's at 10 rpm
AwesomeDesertTortoises the thunderbolt was only given the option of 2,4, or 8 RPM not 10... federal introduced the thunderbolt as the first siren with optional rotation speeds... now the 2001-130 also has it 2,4, or 6 RPM common with the DCB controller.
he probably counted the RPM himself. The RPM isn't going to be perfect, it is always going to be out by a large decimal or even a couple of whole numbers if the siren is reverse wired for instance this video.
Sounds almost like a 2001-130.
But quieter.
It's a a1 blower
Keaton Johnson cuz he is far away from the siren
AwesomeDesertTortoises StrikerTehPhazonEmperor It should be louder and not as high pitched. It's blower is spinning backwards making it run high pitched because of the chopper being under vacuum. Knowing how they've been replacing sirens there I honestly don't think this siren will be fixed.
THE BLOWER ON THIS ONE IS NOT WIRED BACKWARDS AND NEVER HAS BEEN! IT IS SIMPLY JUST SET ON LEVEL 7
Is that the one at park place?
EBugatti13 builders+ it did not
EBugatti13 builders When I go downtown I see the park place thunderbolt standing and the last time I was in downtown cincinnati was 10/6/17
It’s definitely still there, just inactive and offline. I saw it yesterday. My guess is that it’ll stay there till Hamilton county sends a work order to have it removed and until they get more important tasks complete then I’m sure it’ll be removed and donated. It’s a hard setup to remove the blower is inside the structure behind the outside wall and sits lower on the ground. As there is steps after you go in the door. I’ve also heard that ever since the building was renovated it’s an absolute nightmare to get to! Everything is inside except the blower standpipe, the compulert RTU antenna, the siren head and 40 degree elbow for the standpipe for the entrance to the building inside is the ASC RTU the FS RCM1 and the blower. I’ve seen the setup before.
This is a jailbar in case anyone was wondering
That T-bolt is quiet, where is this located
On the roof of the Park Place at Lytle building, Cincinnati, OH. This siren is no longer active and it doesn't operate anymore
So so so quiet
All Thunderbolt 1000T 4/5 sirens sounds like Minneapolis sirens 👍
Mikey Maybe so. I like 4/5 ports the best ones.
Adam Carter The one they have left at West Bank is a 4/5 on Chopper Level 5, so I guess it's your lucky day XD
Mikey I like the 4/5 Thunderbolt 1000T to keep it in West Bank. But there's also a federal signal DSA as well.
Adam Carter I'm not sure what those DSA's are used for. The Thunderbolt is litterally across the street. I believe they are operated by the U of M, while the Thunderbolt is operated by Hennepin County
Mikey in Minneapolis they got Whelen Vortex R4 one Thunderblt 1000T 4/5 and DSA Here and look on the wall the Federal DSA over on top the building a Thunderbolt 1000T www.google.com/maps/@44.9699975,-93.2424386,3a,27.1y,5.66h,112.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sIF15C5NX7smZp2Re6VXkcw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
That's cool
What rpm is this? Some high number?
8 rpm
more like 7
@@1000BT it's at 8 rpm. I counted the rotations and it made it through exactly 8 rotations in 1 minute
I hear a 4/5 port
Yep! That's the one on the Federal Building just a few blocks away!
Think it's an older A1 Blower or a newer A2 blower?
Carlos Aponte It is an A2 I believe as it isn't as buzzy as it would be with an A1
Mr.Someone \Tom/ no. All jailbar Thunderbolts are A1. The reason this one doesn't sound raspy is because the blower is running in reverse and is sucking air through the siren instead of pushing it out.
Mr.Someone \Tom/ my bad. You were talking about the 4/5 in the distance. That one is also an A1
What RPM is that? Some really high number!?
Probably 8rpm.
8
nice! : ) is this siren still there or was it removed?
Really? I thought it was still up, just inactive
@@JoshuaTheSCPKing you got any proof? As far as nearly everyone in the community is concerned, its still standing, but inactive
@@JoshuaTheSCPKing lol it happens, don't worry about it
@@JoshuaTheSCPKing they maintain there sirens
@@1000BT no they dont lmao
There was another video of this shot by another user and it was white was this repainted yellow recently and was this its final test before the upgrade to the T-128 system
Is this siren going to be sold? Or sent to a junk yard?
@@Csx2748 It's not going anywhere. It has been left in place and is now inactive.
play this at 2X speed it is hilarious X D
is this still active?
Nope. Its still up, but it no longer operates
Legit sounds like 2001-130. Sucks that its inactive because all they had to do was wire the blower properly.
No that’s not the reason is it?
The radio clearly wasn’t working I guess
Is the blower working?
Doesn't sound like it is
+Paul Spomer The blower on this Thunderbolt, as well as a few others in Cincinnati, were all reverse wired, so they didn't pack as much of a punch.
+Max Shaw Trust me, this one packed a punch. Have you heard in in person?
Yes I have. I have heard though that this Thunderbolt was reverse wired, at least the blower was.
This is Lytle Place.
So apparently this siren was never wired backwards, it was just set at level 7.
It was wired backwards. Long wind up and wind down, and the fact that it has no pulsation from the blower (6m model, 1953) are dead giveaways that its reversed
Cruz has literally seen the setup of this siren and confirmed that this was, in fact, reverse-wired. The reason it carried as well as it did is because it is mounted a good 200+ feet in the air. Plus, reverse-wired Thunderbolts aren't quiet, they're still a lot louder than they would be without the blower. They just aren't quite as loud as a correctly wired one.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan I know lol. I was just stating a rumor I had heard
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfan i want pics
i think someone accidentally hooked this thing up to 600 volts.... instead of its 240/480 volts lol its on MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE
I can hear the tbolt level 4 1000t and the 2001’s
this sounds creepy... btw what happened to the blower?????
It's wired backwards
No it's not.
Yeah it's definitely not because like I said, the chopper doesn't stop at all during the wind down.
I don't understand, please explain what you mean...
sheeans that the chopper winds down looooonger
Sounds more like a thunder2001 LOL
3:11 it's a tinie tiny tbolt vvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVvvvvvvvvvvv curse u tiny tbolt!!!!
No growl?
And it will shortly be living with me.
Highly unlikely.
What makes you say that?
because it would cost a boatload to remove a thousand pound air raid siren from a skyscraper in the middle of a busy city. Not to mention the liability if it fell and killed someone.

DOOMSDAY HAS ARRIVED PEOPLE!
I don't see any rust at all on this thing!
wish they would use there old system again someday

cool
Why can’t I hear the 1000 tbolt
Turn up your volume??? It's the main sound in the video, the high pitched audio is from the thunderbolt
Oh it sounds like a 2001
serial is T-80 the 3rd oldest thunderbolt
Where did you get this information? You do know that this thing is a 1953 model, right? No way it can be a double digit serial
@@thespiritstingray9359 i need proof its reverse wired
@@1000BT the sound it makes...
High pitch, no pulse, slow wind-up and wind-down. All extremely common characteristics of a reverse wired thunderbolt
@@thespiritstingray9359 than did the courthouse bolt really spin 8 rpm?
@@1000BT in Cincinnati? It's never been confirmed what its rpm was. The rotator was either broken or shut off
creepy ass ambience
Yer bio?
Guys the chopper is dead the other siren is a 2001 im sure.
It has to be, because when this turns to the side, away from the camera, you hear the sound more dominantly, so it can’t be the tbolt.
There is no 2001s in close proximity to this siren. Please keep in mind that this was filmed from a very long distance away from the siren. Plus, 2001s dont have wind ups as long as this thunderbolt's wind ups are, and same goes for the wind-downs
@@SNIXC that is because the sound is delayed from when it is emitted from the siren to when it gets to the camera's position due to the long distance
TheSpiritStingray yknow that makes sense
Single toned thunderbolts set on high chopper levels/with reverse wired blowers can sound similar to 2001s
Actually it is a jailbar thunderbolt
Actually*
its a jailbar tbolt
Does anybody have this siren after it was removed?
This siren has not been removed yet. I passed by it 2 days ago.
Sirens Of SW Ohio really?
It's still there. It would be cost prohibitive to remove it, so it's staying there for now. The EMA has stated before that it would cost $2000 just to remove it. Based on where the blower, RCM, and RTU are located it's very difficult to get to.
someone make a roblox model of this
And 12 rpm
They don't do 12 rpm unless they are modified
Csx2748 no they can’t be modified to spin that fast
Sounds like a 2001 SRN
It’s actually not from the 1000
