you still need to go to your iphone settings and do 'remove apple watch from account'. you missed that part.

You can unpair the Apple Watch by going to a computer and sign in to your iCloud account then find the watch on your list of devices attached to your account.

I cannot unpair the apple watch from my old phone.. I got a newer iphone and I transferred all my data to the new iphone. The apple watch is still connected to the old iphone and it doesn’t let me disconnect from it. When I try to erase, it says it couldn’t connect to the apple watch make sure it’s nearby…
