    I plowed snow for 50 years before I retired, the last 25 years were at Chicago's O'Hare Field. !0 years in the hangers and the last 15 years in the parking lots. Ran a Cat 966 loader with a 32-foot-wide blade in the hangers and a 950 Cat loader loading snow out of the parking lots. I miss it a little. I also drove a salt truck for a different outfit. Yuor right about most people not wanting to work all the hours.

    • @TheBostonTrucker

      I've never heard of sand slip, what is it and where do you get it?

    • @erikthorstensen5185
      @erikthorstensen5185 2 года назад

      Its a liquid product, we get it a 55 gallon drum. All our trailer drivers have it in a gallon pump sprayer. Spraying the liner especially if you know its going to be brutally cold out like its been. It helps prevent loaders from freezing to the liner. Its almost like an environmentally friendly oil. Our other 2 trailer drivers haul dirty dirt up to NH, and Maine for French or other contractors so its a little insurance to prevent loads from sticking. It gets delivered to us,I'm not sure where we get it. But it is called sand slip.

    • @19723020
      @19723020 2 года назад

      I wonder how vegetable based hydraulic oil would work? Be a real time saver, if the snow slid out of the loader bucket, just past flat, and you didn't have to bang it against the stops 3 times every bucket full.

It real looks dirty during the day, but looks like it does a really good job when you clean it off.🧐 It keeps you busy, gives you something to enjoy, makes you money. All good stuff! I have onboard scales but my new trailer hasn't got one yet but I have an idea. A super full load, I'm probably grossing out 80-90k so pretty light.

      We don't worry about the weight. We're legal for 99,000lbs and we know it doesn't get near that heavy.

    Hey just had a quick question for you. I went through a local trucking school and got my class B CDL with air brake and drove a 10speed truck in that school specifically so I can drive tri axle dump trucks. Here in Philly I called about 10 tri axle companies and nobody will even think about hiring you unless you have 3 years experience driving a truck of that weight class. So how in the hell am I supposed to get experience when nobody will hire you when you are new to the industry? The only place that will hire me is Silvi Concrete but they expect their drivers to work 60-70hrs a week on a concrete truck including Saturdays which I cannot do. How can I get into driving tri axles as a newbi? If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears. This industry is the most prejudice and unfair thing that I've ever seen. Especially when I'm already qualified to drive those trucks. It's not a space ship or quantum physics. It's just a truck. No big deal.

      It's a tough business. My best advice is to personally go door to door, meet the bosses and the owners, don't just fill out an application. Present yourself well, offer to start at the bottom whether it's washing and greasing trucks etc. and driving the smaller trucks. You have to stay persistent and you'll find something.
