Last turn. Nikki should've bought the second tier 3 card, gaining 3 points and 2 more crowns, that if I'm not mistaken awards 2 extra points. GG, Lincoln.
@@letartean Yup! I was going to point that out as well, but I like that your reply is hidden under another one, so it doesn't spoil the game outcome. Smart move!
What are the odds! I just played this for the first time last night on BGA and had a blast so I am going to pick it up after work today at my FLGS. Perfect time to watch a playthrough!
This is why I always check the tutorials for games I think I know. I thought you could take two tokens from a line of three even if there was a gap in the middle, thanks for clarifying!
Thanks for doing this one on GameNight! DateNight! This is one of my favorite games, but a bit hard to teach to someone unfamiliar with the original Splendor; this vid might help out with that! For reserved cards, we usually turn them sideways so that they are more obvious. Putting gold on them often makes us forget the gold, or makes new players feel like it must be spent on that card. I didn't notice the Grey either; that was crazy! BTW, I tried to go back and find season 1 of DateNight!, and it looks like there is no compiled playlist... Most of them appear to be in Season 8, which I guess makes sense due to the pandemic, but maybe someone could compile it for those of us who like to play 2-player games with partners or a best friend?
First thing first, i just love your channel, how you share your passion for games and the obvious pleasure you have to sit at the same table. Now, about that game... That's a pure Cathala's game. And to be honest, i don't appreciate his work that much, not because the games are bad, but because, it is obvious that bruno's starting point is the mechanism and then he puts some contexte around. He's considered (in France at least) as one of the master of two-players only games. Now, is splendor duel a bad game ? By no means.. Is it a better, different version of Splendor (which works very well at 2) ? No. it's a pure Cathala's production as different from the multiplayers original game, as 7wonders and 7wonders duel are different, or abyss and abyss conspiracy. Splendor (i play with the "marvel edition" that has slightly different rules that expend dramatically the strategies) is a great game with a very simple proposition, from which it gets its savour. MAybe if you put different pieces than black and white stones in go game it gives you a great game.. but it won't be go anymore. Same feeling her. Spendor is a great game that becomes more and more interesting as you play with the same players again and again. SPendor duel, is a pure cathala with tracks and things as if you could play tic-tac toe while playing splendor. Finally two different games with partly the same name.. for me, splendor works better and will stay probably longer on my table than this one
@yannber I really enjoy all of the Splendor versions. We have not played the Pokemon one yet but we have it and need to get it to the table. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
Lincoln, please let Nikki talk when she's explaining the game!

Couldn’t she have taken the 2 points blue card in the second tier and won the game with twenty points?

I saw this too

I really like this game. It's easy, portable and there are enough ways to win to put this on the table once in a while.

Oooh, looks like at 21:38 Lincoln spent an extra red token for a card that didn’t require red. Dang!
15:29 and no chips to replenish, because there are none in the bag yet!
