長鎗法選 (Chang Qiang Fa Xuan), is an ancient Chinese Long Spear manual, drawn and written by 程宗猷 (Cheng Zong You) during the Ming Dynasty, when the Japanese pirates fought with the Ming soldiers.
Great to see other HCMA people out there. Really helps keep the arts alive.
interesting that the 4th print shoing the large lunge, shows that the guy is wearing a crossbow on his back, it looks like the crossbow is tucked into his belt in some way
in all stances he wears a crossbow (or perhaps a bow in some cases?) in his belt.
Very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Your video rocks Takeshima Jackie.The music is so smooth and fits perfect.
Good work as always, bro.
Thank you. I really like your video.
Nice work.
Does the men in the picture wear chainmail under his coator is it just clothing? Im really interested in old Chinese clothing and armour.
they arent full armed for the body part, kind of casual wearing.
Wow, what nice awnser. Yeah it's been a while. I am a bit more educated in this topic than 2 years ago and just recently looked at the terracotta soldiers. Very interesting comment however you gave me quiet a bit of information here. I really appreciate your efforts thank you .
Weapon is a sticky thing because everything is just an illusion since life is a dream comes true.
Nice vid. I often see one handed spear thrusts in two handed spear fighting and always ask myself, if the power is enough to pierce armor, especially heavy battlefield armor like lamellars, plate coats or mail. in bayonet fencing it's also used, but there the advantages are clear: fast, even greater reach against unarmored opponents. has anyone experience with this?
*****
i got the gist of it decently enough
The chances of any spear thrust punching through metal plate armor is zero, chainmail maybe, padded armor definitely, but once you get to steel lamelar then one hand or 2 won't make a difference. Don't thing in terms of piercing plates, wearing armor is unpleasant and if it did't work people would not do it, if you want to kill someone in lamelar or plate you need to aim for the gaps.
@@topaz173 your english is fine, and the body mechanics are right, but no spear thrust is going to pierce heavy armor, if it would nobody would wear heavy armor.
offen one handed spear thrusts are suit in non armor, could get further range by doing so.
在古代的战争中,全员铠甲的军团很少。 超级帝国也不会组织超过3000人的全身铠甲的军团投入一场战斗。一般来说只有将军,大领主,指挥官…才有铠甲。
I don't know much about Chinese ancient weapons but were spears suppose to be longer than that?
Historically, spears used on battlefields could be anywhere from 2 meters long to a whopping 6 meters, like the pike or the yari.
there is many different typ of spears or lance
my favorate weapon asides from the Chang Dao and Jian :D awesome!
@jackchn No prob.Keep up the good work.
@BushiBato Thank you! =)
Is there a major difference in technique between the 6-7' spear (like Mei Hua qiang) and the long spear (chang qiang)?
what is music???
Try to check threekingdom movie
@Kuo711
Hi, this is from "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon".
It's a great movie with Andy Lau in it, go watch it! =)
Yes
Good stuff.
Thank you.
👍
Any sifu to learn from ?
I would look into finding a school of bajiquan, they don't teach forms but they pretty much always teach spear
@jonathanbluestein
Thank you for sharing this information. =)
Bro, that doesn't look like a LONG spear to me. I'm not asking for pike length but come on. We Chinese that short or something? And sure it looks fine for more martial inclined fighting methods but it's not very practical/efficient/effective put together in fighting enemies. The horseback stance with spear extended outwards makes it so it's easy to hit the spear and smash someone with a shield push forward with that very horseback stance and cut downwards with a sword and ending somebody.
No, the spear he's using is definitely shorter than what would actually be used in warfare. Records state that Chinese pikes are up to twenty two feet in length.
This is short indeed, the mainstream length of long guns in ancient China was about three or four meters
It’s just a demo. If he had a longer practice weapon, I’m sure he’d used it. It’s not easy to carry a 10+ft long spear around, unless you have the detachable ones which aren’t cheap either.
the name of song?
s ss three kingdoms 見龍卸甲
I wish there was real chinese ancient battlefield martial arts where i live there is only kickboxing/wing chun. :'(
wing chun is no joke - and probably more effective than most martial arts you can learn. It's fast and close enough that you can fit wing chun moves in between moves from other types of martial art, with devastating results! If wing chun is the only option near you I'd strongly say go train it for 6 months and see how you feel about it.
Oldschool traditional weapon-based martial arts training is tough to find, but if you are at a good studio then visiting masters and special workshops will crop up.. I trained in Tai Chi and Qi Gong for several years but also had many weekend weapon workshops with spear and scholar sword, as well as meeting actual grandmasters such as George Xu, (ruclips.net/video/1PXaRBitJQs/видео.html) who demo'd some really breathtaking stuff.
The thing is you have to get your foot in the door first, or you'll never have that chance.
@zeong77 Thank you =)
very Interesting form but horse stance training needed keep your toes pointed strait, not pointed out. otherwise good.
you need to know , that is perfect horse stand right there ," toes pointed strait " that not even horse stand
@ahighart
Thank you! =)
Very nice... :)
I know you'er going by the pictures and illustrations in the old manuals, but damn, that open mabu stance is real ugly to my CMA eyes :P
And then the Mongols came.
the mongols came and send the europeans into the dark ages
No it's then the manchus came
Still, Song Dynasty persisted for a half century under the relentless invasion of Mongols before being annexed. Which had been the longest resistance time among any other middle East and east Europe kingdoms at that time.
