the 2nd. vinyl underneath did the trick for me. Old Who by the numbers plays fine now. Thanx a lot. I guess without this video I would never found out the hack.

@@mariomoers Excellent. Glad I could help. Thanks.

I would chalk this up in the "not much you can do" camp. One of the concessions of portability here is that these .5% edge case "very warped but still technically playable on a full sized deck" disks aren't playable on the Sound Burger. Even if you could play them by adding spacers or other records underneath you probably wouldn't want to because the tonearm is spring loaded and changing the height could change the effective tracking force.
I guess the solution with the Sound Burger is that you can take it to the shop and see if the record plays on it before you buy? Of course, that leaves you out in the cold if you already own the warped record...

What I did and it seemed to work was to use a small piece of cardboard with just enough height to avoid the vinyl hitting that area. It works for me, but I guess it depends on the amount of warp on the record.

I tried a cut-up piece of non-slip mat but it didn't work. I'll try cardboard, thanks.

Had same issue. Luckily had access to a small laser cutter at work. Cut myself a faux leather mat the size of record label - around 1mm thick. Works good, but i don't think it will help with more warped records

The Sound Burger has more nutritional value than a McDonald's burger.

    Yeah.
Main problem on Sound burger. And I fight with same problem.
I find that, even when record is slightly warped. More than 1 or 1.5mm it’s starting to hit that place and slow down playback speed and it’s getting really annoying.
Bought several new records, an on my big turntable everything feels right but till i have to play record on sound burger, then I realise, even new vinyl is wraped.

That's a problem, not being able to play a new record. I think there's plenty of space inside the player, they could have made the plastic lower at that point. On the other hand, it's a remake of a cult classic, so any changes may not have been welcome.
Still a great turntable though, imo.

so it can't play anything from Warp records?

Fairly warped record. Probably put up with good record surface under or just the fact you can only play it on main deck if you have one. Ive taken a warped record to a shop with a record flattener with success...the records ive taken though are fairly valuable which I got for nix. They are now fixed and valuable again.

Remember to remove the transit screw from the back of the unit. And there's a small white/clear plastic protector over the stylus, side it forwards and off if you haven't already done so

I can't think why it would do that. Does the stylus look ok? If so, maybe it's a faulty unit ☹️

I commented on your video, and I made a community post on my channel with a link to your video in case any of the smart people who help me have any ideas. My guess is that there's something inside that's causing the tone arm to be pushed inwards.

I used a this little flat rubber thing I had that was meant to be used to put an apple watch on to clean it, its cut out in the middle so I could put in on my platter and then put the warped record on top, and thus its elevated high enough to not catch on the sound burger...but my concern is if the record is lifted too high will the needle touch down on it with more pressure/too much pressure? I dunno, I'm new to this and also kind of stupid. haha if anyone knows better please pass the knowledge along to me >.

Good idea. Don't worry about the extra pressure, it will be a minimal increase. More of a problem, I've found, is the tone-arm making contact on the edge of the record.

Even with a normal turntable I’d throw that record to the shithouse. Warped discs increase wow and flutter and sound goes out of concert pitch. Replace it.

It belongs to my mum and I doubt they'll ever reproduce it. Funny thing is, I remember it fondly from my childhood but now it's not that good, and neither is the movie it came from. My mum will get it back soon when I've got her new turntable belt.

Thanks for the recommendation, but at that price it would cost more than my entire vinyl collection is worth. For now, if it's warped, I'll stream it 😁
