I'm a guy who is now about jillion years old. Okay, I'm actually 72. I got started with resistance training about 7 or 8 years ago when I was given two dumbbells of 25 and 30 pounds. My #1 thought at the beginning, and even now years later, is to not hurt myself. Every other day I do 3 sets of 20, curls, bench presses and something called "rows". The positives are that I have never hurt myself and have maintained good upper body function and if it matters at this point, decent physical appearance. The downside is that on a number of occasions I have been asked by neighbors to do physical chores such as lifting moderately heavy objects onto shelves or into/out car trunks. What are those red handles attached to the bands called. I bought some bands but it didnt come with them nice handles. I am in Australia dont know where to get these? Any help.pls
@kkgibbs1 The best way to lose bulk is avoiding refined carbs and sugars. Focus on adding proteins ie meats to your diet & fats. Yes, like butter, chicken with skin on it, eggs, bacon, butter & avocadoes are all good for you! SUGAR is the No No!👎🏻 Basically a Keto Diet or healthier version of Atkins. There are lots of YT videos describing it in detail! 😉 As far as exercise, start by walking and do a few of these exercises for one set only. Start with 8 oz water bottles. See how you feel in 2 days... Then you'll know if it was too much; cut back or if you can increase the diatance & speed of walking & more sets or weight of exercises... Much Luck on your Journey! 😎
@@kkgibbs1You might consider using dumbbells instead of bands. As long as you have good form ( you don't want a back injury), using more weight means less repetitions, so it's more efficient. I am lookinf forward to these exercises! I am 73 and thought there wasn't anything I could do! Ty so very much!! Welcome Mike! Ive been watching Bob and Brad for two years off and on. I have been told by a family member not to exercise because it would make my lumbar stenosis more painful and I am too old now to strengthen my muscles!

I bought the bands a few months ago for this very video. I found that if I had a door, it opened the wrong way or it was in a hallway that didn't allow me to extend my arms. Last night my husband installed my wall anchors in the basement. Love the bands. I am trying to work out doing the exercises and the variations while watching the videos.
For security: make your execise on the side of the door where the whole doorframe hinders the door from opening, not just the lock. Hope you have a little space to exercise on that side of the door! Great program to do here! Love it, as well as the leg ditto!
I enjoy your videos, so please keep them coming (I do miss Bob, though.) I have a safety tip about the video. You show the door anchor being placed with the door opening toward the person using the bands. There are two things wrong with this. 1. If the door is not properly closed, it can fly open unexpectedly, launching the anchor toward the exerciser. 2. Someone might accidentally open the door from the other side while exercises are being performed with the same result. It is better to place the anchor so the door opens away from the exerciser. Doing so prevents the door from flying open if it is not closed properly and resists anyone opening the door when the bands are under tension.
The walking sticks you recommended have been wonderful for me. (Some people call them “trekking poles “) Every morning we walk for an hour and I use the sticks. My posture is good for the rest of the day and the sticks were not expensive. I owe bands already, I appreciate the exercises for my bat wings! Bob and Linda, we are sending good thoughts to you both.
🎉🎉Great video 3 years ago with Bob & Brad using the wall anchors ‼️Also, great video 5 years ago using bands. A lot of friends watch these and the new ones💪. Keep up the good work 🎉🎉
I got so excited when I watched this video because it seems like the bands can help in so many ways, especially for those who are not so mobile. Any particular band exercise that can help for lower back pain? It would be great if you could make a video for beginners to follow, where you are doing the different exercises and we could follow. There were quite a few exercises and each one has its own purpose. I'm not in the US so I will have to go and look for these bands and door anchors. Oh do make a video for us to use 🤗❤️
Terrific explanations of this band kit I purchased❤, Ty. Brad, you have really kept in great shape over the years💯👍. I will aspire to the wall anchors soon, ty Brad🎉. Great video Brad& Mike🎉
I have lost 75 lbs . I carry a lot of fat in my arms . Now that the fat is gone I’m left with bat wings 😮 I have been strength training now for around 3 months with progressive overload. I’m slowly beginning to see the difference. I’m not expecting to have completely toned arms but getting stronger and building lean muscle mass is my main goal now as I turn 50 in 2 years . This is also something that I will continue to do for all the benefits. I haven’t used bands yet … I may try them . Thanks 😊
Consider doing occasional fasting to tighten the skin. Fasting triggers autophagy (literal translation is "eat self"). Autophagy will have the body naturally consume the excess skin cells. Dr. Jason Fung talks about this in some of his videos and books www.youtube.com/@drjasonfung
Great video as usual! Mike you seem so much more confident now that you were formally introduced! We’re glad you (and Bob) are here alongside Brad. You doing great! Mike aka Dr. Arms.
I found this useful and thank you! Some key things were how you explained not to do the exercises so fast, but to allow for the muscles to do the work. A keyword you used that caught my attention was batwings - for sure i need help there! I wish you showed the door anchors in detail a little more especially that I am a beginner. I like how you explain the benefits of bands over weights and it makes sense especially that i live in a smaller space (55+ years per the video title). I liked also how you showed the scapular and chest muscles and how to squeeze or expand. This was useful, thank you again!
Loved the video just the information that I need and not too much! BUT don't know if it's my computer, or your video but I had to have my volume turned up to max. to hear the video but the commercials were loud! I don't know if there was a problem with your video?? Thank you so very much for all the help you've give us and the pain we have avoided. I'm over 80 and this is really what I need!
Do not rest too long between exercises. Depending on your fitness and health level, I rest between 30 seconds to 45 seconds. You want to keep the intensity and blood flow in the muscles you are working.
To increase strength and power, the best rest period is 2-5 minutes between sets. To increase hypertrophy (muscle growth), the best rest period is 30-90 seconds between sets. To increase muscular endurance, the best rest period is 30 seconds or less between sets. (Based on sports medicine studies.)
Great content. How often should bands be replaced to avoid them snapping? I had some snap, which scared me to use them. But living in a smaller place, I am seeing the appeal of them. I am disappointed you didn't mention you can begin just using our arms, they are heavy all by themselves! Or use soup cans or filled water bottles until you get bands or dumbbells. It's best to start now while you are motivated, by the time you get your equipment, you will have established the habit of exercising. There are also bodyweight exercises that need no equipment, but may be less accessible for those with poor health/mobility. Motion is Lotion, exercise lessens joint aches and pains, start now!
I just got my bands! I'm so excited!! Do you have more instructional videos on how to use them? This video is great!!! A playlist for resistance bands would be really nice. Hi, Bob, Brad, and Mike! Love your videos. You all have helped me “fix” myself so many times. I’ve been searching your videos for something related to upper arm pain I’ve been having, and I can’t find anything that fits the description. I have no idea what’s causing the pain in my upper left arm. If I stand with my arms hanging straight down and I abduct them laterally, straight out at shoulder height (like making a “T” shape with my body), everything feels fine. But if I let my arms hang down and then bend my elbows so my hands are out in front, and then do the same abduction movement to shoulder height, I have pain in my left arm when it gets up to about a 45 degree angle. I can lift it to shoulder height (parallel to the ground), but it’s very uncomfortable to do so. The pain is on the lateral side of the upper arm, a little closer to the elbow, but the elbow itself doesn’t hurt at all. It feels like it’s neither the tricep or the bicep, but somewhere in between. I can’t figure out what is causing it or what exercises to do to help the situation. Any suggestions? Or do you have any videos already that address this problem? Thanks in advance!

Great info!! Thank you from this 60 yr old.
Glad you enjoyed!
🎉🎉Great video 3 years ago with Bob & Brad using the wall anchors ‼️Also, great video 5 years ago using bands. A lot of friends watch these and the new ones💪. Keep up the good work 🎉🎉
This is just the type of exercise that I was looking for.
Thank you for these exercises. Never knew how to use the equipment and now I do.😊
I have lost 75 lbs .
Love Mike, his voice is so clear.
Great video as usual! Mike you seem so much more confident now that you were formally introduced! We’re glad you (and Bob) are here alongside Brad. You doing great! Mike aka Dr. Arms.
Thank you very much!
I bought the resistance bands. I would gladly pay for a video showing how to do all the exercises on the sheet that came with them.
Mike is doing a great job, I enjoy his relationship with Brad.
Thanks so much, I’ve been looking for a way to get my 73 year old arms stronger.
I love your videos, they make it as easy and understandable as its going to be.
Great to hear, we try to do our best!
Love these bands 😊 I’ve had mine for a year and they make exercise so much easier!
Love the idea of resistance bands! Thanks for the extra tips. Brad is looking so fit!
Hi Bob! 👋 Have a beautiful day, week and so on. 😂
I just got my bands! I'm so excited!!
Do you have more instructional videos on how to use them? This video is great!!! A playlist for resistance bands would be really nice. I'd love to see you demonstrate the exercises as it really helps me. ❤ you guys! Edit: I just found the comment below where you link to more videos. Thanks!
Thank you for your easy to follow videos packed with tips and wisdom. My best regards to all of you and best wishes to Bob.
These are great arm exercises for us older folks
Thanks for the nice demonstration guys!! I bought your B&B band set a year ago. Having you give a comprehensive beginner's demo makes a difference 😉
BTW 70 lbs lost in 1 year!
Yes, Mike, keep working on your voice and now you need to stop swaying. Bob and brad have years of experience so there is a learning curve. Thank you, it’s good info!
Hay that's racist, where ya been? Btw Mike, my son a shaver too, got him nice shaving creamssss for his b-day, they have cocoa butter (moms just know)...
Thanks

❓Do you have a PDF file on these arm exercises Brad??! ❓The back PDF files only show Mike ) physical therapy assistant)? Has Mike taken show over⁉️
Thank you! There is hope!! 😊💪🏼
There's always hope!
Thank you for this video. It's nice to be reminded how to use the resistance bands and to learn some new techniques.
These are great, thanks for showing! Bands are great for traveling, especially in a RV! I did purchase your wall anchors for my basement. They attach well to the wood studs. You forgot to mention the 4th key component... motivation!
OMG! I love you guys so much. This 50-something woman really needs help with the bingo wings! I love this video!
This is definitely what I was looking for, thank you! 😊
Our pleasure!
You all responded to almost every comment AMAZING!! You have helped me so much!! Thank you guys!!!
Mike is a good addition!
Hey this is the first video I've caught in a while came up in my RUclips feed and I thought oh let me watch that cuz I'm 62 and I really liked what you were doing and then today I got on Amazon to look for some stretchy bands and hear your fantastic set was on sale for $29.97 and work down from $52.99 so I bought it and it has everything🎉 So I bought that and I'm waiting to get it and I'm going to do the exercises. It's going to really be great thank you
Welcome back! Stay Healthy Fit and Pain Free. Brad
I’m feeling flabby! I need some help, I just ordered your 125lb tube set. Love the socks Brad, your biceps 💪🏼too. Hi Mike and Bob.
Great to hear it! Good luck!
@@BobandBrad with your videos I should have good luck 🍀
Just what I need🎉🎉🎉Love you and Bob, too❤🎉❤🎉
Great!
Did someone read my mind ? This is just what I need right now. Thanks !!
Thank you both for this NEEDED info.....
Glad we could help!
Great exercises, and upper body strength is so important. I don't like bands and am using 10 pound dumbbells. Dumbbells make for strong hands, and hand strength is nice to have. Bands would be good for travel.
These bands are awesome! Just be consistent consistent consistent! Thanks for this great video guys!
Love Bob & Brad also Love Bob & Mike!
Always excellent content. Thank you!
Will refer back to this when I get my rotator cuff tear healed up. Batwings suck!
Please do more of these videos for lower body
Will do, thanks
Thank you God for this new day. Thank you for the breath in our lungs and the beating of our hearts. We know every good gift and blessing come from you.. Thank you for your love and faithfullness. 🙏 🙏
I tied bands behind the hinges. One low and one in the center.
