The true story - he is a great human and musician. Can warmly recommend his book "No Easy Road" and -not at least-- his last album "Written in the stars" for every real fan of the original Wishbone Ash. I love this guy and his live performances ❣️
ARGUS is really brilliant. Great album. And it does feel like it has THEMES, which I really appreciate about folk music, prog music, rock music, etc. I like what Martin says about "WARRIOR". Interesting about the honor and heroism of warrior, but also "Throw Down the Sword". Brilliant. Interesting to hear how Martin was a choir boy, I think that history and experience really comes through. Love the richness of the harmonies on the vocals and the guitars.
I like how straight up Martin is about it taking a few albums to figure out what kind of band they were. :D ...on PILGRIMAGE, I love "Valediction". Very nice - I'm a sucker for stuff that sounds kinda like a really old folk song. Great harmonies. "Lullaby" is very pretty, too.
Wishbone Ash - maybe one of the most underrated supergroups. Simply love them, and Martin influenced me most playing the bass. Still remember the lousy gig at Nuremberg Messehalle 1976, maybe due to lousy audience, to lousy premises, and maybe the band hadn’t been in the best mood. As for myself, I‘ve always been missing Ted, couldn‘t really like Laury (sorry, guy). And, Martin, there are two most awesome bass lines👏👏👏👏👏
Saw them in Cardiff capital and reading festival in mid 70s fantastic band Martin Turner Andy Powell Ted turner/Laurie wisefield Steve Upton that's wishbone ash no other version comes close
Basically small piece that I know today is that Laurie was with them for quite a while and I believe he whatever got lured away and did a 1&1/2 year world Tour with the Tina Turner big band when she was highly successful Peak and Teddy got tired of the Rock and Roll Lifestyle quote and his son dying didn't help. Currently he lives in Arizona with his wife Majella and they make what Teddy calls New Age Soul. Check them out RUclips Ted & Majella "Better Together"
How about the original Wishbone Ash or Martin currently... doing music for Monty Python movie doing the Monty Python style thing but with the grand Wishbone Ash energy... ..... That could/ would have been brilliant...!
Martin Turner is a mensch - and one of the greatest and most underrated Bass players of all time. Thanks for the interview.
Martin is the key founding member of Wishbone Ash and he's one of the most melodic rock bass guitar players of all time - a totally class act! 🎸
Great interview - and shows that Martin Turner has always been the heart and soul of the band.

I have just seen your comment and went on discogs now to buy this cd. It's good eh?
Martin Turner . Wonderful player and the soul of Wishbone.
Now I understand why the type of music changed from Argus. The first 3 albums were superb. Bravo Martin.

This is great. Its so nice to hear an in depth account of these great chapters of songs. Each album is its own unique journey but its them. The best.
Thanks for these great interviews! Lovely to hear from all these prog rock legends that are still going strong

The only true Wishbone Ash is this one with Martin.
Heeehehe. "Blowing Free" does stick out, but yeah, maybe it works to contrast everything else. :D
I loved that about shooting pleats at the old records me and my brothers did exactly the same
Wishbone Ash album: Locked in. They needed to name one “Locked Down”
I take a leaf out of Alvin Lees book and I don't side with any cause I just keep ploughing strait ahead and ahm sure to come through.
What happened to Ted Turner and Laurie wise field??
