Excellent buys my friend. Love that Hackett album. Wow, Jon Anderson not number one? Whats next? I will be doing my 2024 remasters tomorrow, and maybe my 2024 purchases Thursday or Friday ❤❤❤
I did post a video about my 2024 new releases and one on my RSD pickups. Not being tech savvy, they both ended up my live page? I just turned on the laptop and uploaded I guess. No rankings, they would change way too often.
Hi Glen!!! good to see your nine favorite album of 2024..... i think that Jon Anderson album is going to appear on several best of list, btw watched another VC channel talking about the new Kim Deal album (ex Pixies bass player). cheers and be well
Strangely, I haven’t seen the Jon Anderson on any one else’s lists yet..Not sure if it is sold on vinyl which will turn a lot of vinyl guys off it..I have never listened to The Pixies..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement maybe it's because there are not that many "Best of 2024" videos so far..... but i remember Pete Pardo talking great things about it, also our good buddy Steve
Eventually, I'll need to get to checking out most of what you recommend, now and in past videos. Always like your videos, it's down to earth and as personable as one can get. Who needs fancy editing? Not you! Keep being real Glen. Thumbs 😊👍
I have six 2024 releases from 2024 I purchased that I will rate: 1. Airbag - The Century of the Self 2. Billy Strings - Live Vol 1 3. The Aristocrats - Duck 4. Sean Lennon - Asterisms 5. David Gilmour - Luck and Strange 6. 21st Century Schizoid Band - Live in Barcelona (didn't know whether or not to mention this one since it was recorded in 2003 but just recently released)
Gosh, Bright Future is such a beautiful record. It’s gonna be in my top 20 of this year. I even got my dad into it. One of my favorite records that I’d recommend is the new Vampire Weekend album “Only God Was Above Us”. Some really cool chamber and baroque instrumentation plus world music sounds like a Balalaika and tribal drums. They’re usually known for very clean cut and preppy indie rock, this was their most adventurous record yet. The lead singer is also the late Quincy Jones’ son in law.
A few extra for you, no particular order Brave Rival - Fight Or Flight Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse - Hot Nostalgia Radio Beth Hart - You Still Got Me Bywater Call - Shepherd (Canadian Band ) Elles Bailey - Beneath The Neon Glow plus Dom Martin - Buried In The Hail from very late in 2023 I tend to go to gigs and buy from there so possibly the live performance influences my perception but still. Thanks for the videos, Glen
I'm gonna check out the Sean Lennon and Steve Hackett. I definitely like the Jon Anderson. I noticed the David Gilmour was not on your list. Not a fan?
I have not yet heard the Gilmour album..I liked the last two but very rarely play them so I figured it would end up on the shelf..I have heard good things though..would be interested if you like the Sean Lennon and Hackett albums..
Just played the Sean Lennon and I love it especially the title track. I think it's great that he went in a different musical direction from his dad, but still made good music. Can you recommend anything else of his?
Dead South..good pick My 5 5..Paul Heaton/The Mighty Several 4..Kim Gordon/The Collective 3..Ibibio sound machine/Pull the rope 2/Naima Bock/Below a massive dark land 1..Nifuler Yanya /My Method Actor
If you want 9s, you get 9s, so my two Top 9s. Overall, I checked out about 50 albums in 2024 which I found good. Top studio albums 1. Billy Strings - Highway Prayers 2. * Saving Escape - Good Traveler 3. * Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge - Wine On Venus 4. The Black Crowes - Happiness Bastards 5. Slash - Orgy Of the Damned 6. Full Flower Moon Band - Megaflower 7. Warren Haynes - Million Voices Whisper 8. Marcus King - Mood Swings 9. Beth Hart - You Still Got Me * marks debut albums Top live albums 1. The Allman Brothers Band - Final Concert 10-28-14 2. Billy Strings - Billy Strings Live Vol. 1 3. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Live from the Ryman, Vol. 2 4. Fanny - Live on Beat-Club '71-'72 5. Ann Wilson & Tripsitter - Live In Concert 6. Cardinal Black - Live at The Memo 7. R.E.M. - Live From the Pyramide Stage, Glastonbury Festival, June 25, 1999 8. Fleetwood Mac - Mirage Tour '82 9. Bruce Springsteen - Road Diary The Kim Deal album is awesome, it's strange but it kinda works.
Love that Cardinal Black live album. Hard to find a physical copy. Reminds me of the Nick Moss Band incarnation with Michael Ledbetter on vocals for the Time is Free and Live & Luscious albums. Lead singer is absolutely the same.
@dennislind8411 Yeah, I know the problem, some of these are hard to get physical copies of. But wouldn't be fair to not rank it just for technical reasons, it's way too good. For a relatively unknown band it's actually frikkin amazing. Tom Hollister is a killer vocalist, Chris Buck on guitar ain't too shabby either.
@dr.s. agreed. I'm able to stream it and I love it. Deserves to be rated for sure. Love Chris Buck as well. Hopefully the live album will become available on this side of the pond in physical format.
My favorite nine albums of 2024 (Which I don't consider a great musical year). Random order: Ches Smith - Laugh Ash Kamasi Washington - Fearless Movement Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown Oneida - Expensive Air Lætitia Sadier - Rooting for Love The Smile - Wall of Eyes Sam Lee - Songdreaming Four Tet- Three John Cale - POPtical Illusion

@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I like it a lot more than her last album. The Deep Purple album is the "Hackney Diamonds" for this year. An older rock group comes back strong, with their signature sound intact, after 35 years of so-so albums. They have some of the weaker cuts at the start though, and Ian Gillan's voice shows his age a little. The new guitarist they got is fantastic on this "=1" release.
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement The way I think of "Hackney Diamonds", not you. 😊😄🤣 You might like that new Deep Purple album. It really harkens back to their classic MK II period. The interplay between the guitar and the keyboards is very similar.
Great list! Thanks RK!
Thank you
Just got tix for Tony Trischka 12/12/2024 in Bethlehem PA. Godfrey Daniel's is such a beautiful intimate listing room. I think it seats 75 SRO
Wow Joel..that is amazing..let me know how it was..
Totally agree about Sean and Jon! Sadly The Beach Boys featuring John Stamos didn't make an album this year! 😃
That is a shame..lol

Sean Lennon nearly made it into my top 9 albums by Beatles children but he just missed out. Better luck next year Sean ✌️

I've listened to only 2 albums from 2024 the new lemon twigs album and The Smile album.
I liked the first smile album that came out this year wall of eyes. Wasn’t crazy about cut outs other than a couple tracks.

You absolutely need to get the Sierra Ferrell, it's so, so good. You need to spin the Mike Campbell record, it rocks. I knew Bela would be up there!
Sierra Ferrell is in the cart..
Don't trap her in the cart!
