There is something so familiar and homey about this show. They don't make shows that have heart anymore. I miss my childhood

whenever she says “thank you daddy” i cry because you can see that richard melts. also in rory’s college graduation episode richard calls lorelei “sweetheart” which i LOVE. it’s just those little father-daughter words of affection that really show their relationship.

I notice she’s more comfortable accepting a gift of money from Richard because he doesn’t attach strings to it. She knows it’s a genuine gift he just wants to give. With Emily it’s now you’ll have dinner here or I’ll have my DAR meetings at the inn
These two were so much closer than we ever realised. They understood each other so much more than anyone realised

Not really…7 seasons and these are literally the only almost heart to heart moments they had…besides this they just spent ignoring each other and not wanting to be around eachother…that’s what makes the video so epic..cause besides the rivalry you can tell they loved eachother..but they were never that close

Richard just gets Lorelai more than Emily. He knew that the blind date was such a boring guy for someone as magnanimous as Lorelai. He let her go. The one scene when Straub went hard on Lorelai and Richard came to defend her honor, afterwards Lorelai came to say sorry; Richard said that Lorelai never needed anyone, that was also one of my favorite scene.
They had quite a bond!
I always thought Richard and Lorelei's sense of humor were very similar

The graduation was a sweet moment but I still can't get over the fact that Rory missed her mom's graduation. That degree meant so much to Lorelai because she dropped out when she got pregnant as a teen, only to finally get her degree in her 30's. You'd think that's one ceremony you can't afford to miss.
Yeah, I never actually got why the writers choose to make that scene that way...
I still think that that scene makes sense and means so much to Lorelai, she graduated with her parents present like she would have had she graduated all those years ago, they were proud of her and she was happy about it. I know Rory there would've made Lorelai happier but even without her present, the moment still counts.
And it kind bothers me that they don’t hug 🫂 after Lorelai says, “Thank you, daddy…” 🥺

I think that Rory not being there made the graduation more meaningful for Lorelai's relationship with her parents. it was a very important moment for them that they couldn't have together when Lorelai was younger
I also liked when at rory's graduation from yale he told her to enjoy the moment cause it was as much hers as rory's..oh and when he inspected the dragonfly where the insurance people were trying to get over and he was talking about Lorelai expanding the business

Number 6 always makes me teary.... they both wanted to say so much to one another... yet never did. I think a lot goes unspoken between them two.

I always sob like a baby at Lorelai’s graduation scene and you can see jer parents sheer pride.
Some people always get really angry that Rory missed Lorelai's graduation but she actually had to missed it so Lorelai can have one of her best moments with her parents!!

I like that they got along better as they got older.
It's kinda logical... with time you start to undestand what your parents did for you,even the bad desicions they made... I guess that's the key why Lorelai ends up habing a pretty decent and even caring relationship with them!!!
I think Lorelai is less annoyed by her dad than her mom and they seemed to get along better. I also like the no 1 moment on this video. Lorelai smiling and said "Thank you daddy" and Richard looking her at her and smile like in his heart he was probably saying "You are still my little girl"
Richard defending Lorelei to Straub should have been number two at least. Shame on you, Straub!

I always like when Richard brought up some specific detail about Lorelei as a child like her wanting to marry Tip O’Neal or that she had said she wanted to go to Yale
My favorite scene of them both is the scene where Lorelei tells Emily the story of when she saw her dad at the mall and they watched a movie together after her bf had broken up with her

i just realize rewatching the show, richard and emily are aware and supportive only to rory but not to lorelai bcs of what she did in the past. but later, richard realizes what lorelai become over the years that she face all the circumstances in her life alone and taking care of rory but she manages to accomplished it and got herself an inn. So, richard new that lorelai struggles on her own to become successful and thats what richard is so proud of her.
I think he recovered the sensation of the Proud Father after the horrible past they all went into... With Emily I think didn't happen rthe same beacuse she was deeply wounded but at the end of S7 They kinda finaly get along!!
Emily and Richard needs to let go of the past and quit throwing it Lorelai fast everything they don't get their way.
Right? Richard even started to appreciate and rely on help from Lorelai when it came to getting his new office/company up and running, because he quickly realized how skilled she was at the day-to-day operations of a business. Hell, if could have convinced her to leave the Inn and run his office for him, I bet he would have tried, lol!
Love their scenes together always got the feeling they had some kind of bond. That she was his little girl ❤️
I guess in different moments Richard showed how deeply wounded he was after his daughter got pregnant... Lorelai on the other hand, showed many times that she was also wounded because Richard practically wasn't around when she was little (remember the horrible scene of Lorelai in Richard's funeral) and of course for trying to make her got married once she got pregnant... in spite of all that, there were many time when they could've ended their scenes in that long and awaited Hug that never arrived...

I can’t believe this didn’t include the scene from the revival, where Lorelai called Emily at the hiking, about how Richard comforted her after her middle school break up on her 13th birthday and it was her best birthday ever I CRIEEEED 😭

I think if Lorelai told then her dad let their escape when her mom set her up it will cause a fight. I like that it was about her childhood and not when she was an adult.

My father loved this show and got me to watch it. He died 12 years ago, but I think he saw our relationship in Loralei and Richard. I miss him everyday and these clips make me smile.

I agree. Sadly Edward died in 2014 before the revival :( he was a great actor Richard was a good dad. Yes he didn’t show affections with words but i think he loved her for sure. He was into his job and providing for his family as a man should at least in his opinion he felt like he had to do that.

But the writers needed conflict.. so....
Their relationship reminds me of me and my dad. Not the closest but grateful for what we have

The whole show was about humor, argument, and underlying unconditional love. That's what made this series so timeless.

Joyful but wise. Firm but kind. Deep but unintimidating. Large but melodic. He's got a great voice.
My favorite is a drive by about 5 minutes before #6, when Lor gets to the hospital and just bull rushes to the back, leaving Emily saying "I didn't know you could do that"
And this is why I can never fully understand the Year in a Life, cause anyone of these scenes Lorelai could of mentioned at her father’s funeral.
I just don't get the writers eather, I guess they just needed a conflict, no matter what...

@@musickeeper1062 you have to consider Lorelei’s personality. She’s defensive and never put herself in a situation where she is the one seeking help. She doesn’t understand how to handle grief with people. Even with Rory. She puts a face in front of others. I don’t think she can’t think of any moment but more if she don’t want to share those moments and she was thinking of what moment she was willing to share to people.

I'm 35, and my mom has always told me how my dad picked me over my brother. Now.. I have been there for my mother, whenever he attacked her or my brother. I have always stood against him, even if he slammed the doors away from me. Somehow in this video I feel the fatherly love. And maybe, this could be it?
It's just too bad it never showed me when I really needed it. But I guess it's been there, no matter if I felt it, or noticed it. He has been there in his own way.
Some people might argue: it's better to have no father than to have a bad father. I experienced it both. And I'm glad to feel I did. No matter if he felt bad to me. He was there in his own way.
We all do our best, that feels like the right thing to do. No matter how you were raised, no matter what you experienced, we all did what was right in our hearth.
Sometimes the greater loves are unsponken or silent... it does not mean there's not love, but maybe it's hard for people to express it!! And the relationship between a daughter and a father is always really special!!!

Lo que es raro en toda la serie,es que prácticamente,nunca se dieron un abrazo, y y tampoco con su madre.
Cierto, aunque el show es bastante genial hay varias cosas en las que los escritores pudieron mejorar las cosas... Podrían haberlo hecho cuando Lorelai se graduó o cuando le hacen la despedida a Rory pero nunca ocurrió!!
