Hard luck Ireland. Poor discipline in the first half cost us dearly. Will need to watch the full game to see whether Ireland could have attacked/scored more or whether it was all about defense and keeping Canada from scoring more tries. The fact we kept Canada from scoring in the 2nd half shows that this team is good, we just need to be more clinical and disciplined. Congratulations to Canada. Women's rugby in Canada and the US is so much better than the men's. The men's games, either national teams or club teams are so hard to watch.
@@Rugby-union-and-leagueyou obviously didn't watch either match, irelands defence beat NZ and against Canada they had all the possession and territory, just didn't capitalise on it,they did well considering it's their first time in tier 1
Update after seeing whole game. Canada won the first half 21-3 only from 25 mins after Ireland arranged to get both their props yellow carded within 2 minutes of each other. Canada retaliated by getting one of their props sent off, but the damage to Ireland was done. Ireland won the second half 5-0, congratulations to them for also making themselves tough to beat. Moral of the tale is don't trust 8 min highlights, they are so devoid of context as to be misleading false news. Dear World Rugby Women, thanks for uploading, but please think about making highlight videos at least 20 minutes long. Original comment: Well done Canada, you're looking tough to beat (from England supporter). I support the complaint of others about the spoiler in the headline, which unhelpfully doesn't include the date if you ever want to find it again (in yyyy-mm-dd format please). General observation, I don't understand the decisions behind the team colours. Why can't Canada be in all red, and Ireland in all green? Is it really a good idea to have both teams in black shorts?
An enthusiastic follower of the fortunes of Ireland Women's XV, I usually avoid criticising a referee, but I'll make an exception in this case. She was awful, especally in the first half, from the get go. It was stop-start, dubious decisions abounded (not necessarily against Ireland but generally), e.g. Canada nearly scored a try very early on when the referee effectively blocked sight of the threatening Canadian runner, but luckily the Irish defense was alert.... the referee's positional is was non-existent; missed forward passes (Canadian), and numerous other infringements went unspotted. Ireland appeared to have been harshly, if not unfairly, penalised on a lot of occasions. Two yellow cards in succession, sent back 10 metres for back chat. However, Ireland were comfortably the better, more skillful and prepared side in the opening spell (half-an-hour?) , but somehow the Canadians contrived to put points on the board. The Irish looked demoralised as they were unable to get into any rhythm on account of the way the referee was orchestrating the game - scoreline in reverse would have been an accurate reflection on the team's comparative abilities. Another referee would have delivered a different outcome. As the match progressed, particularly in the second half, Canada got better but Ireland were still on a par, but - by then - the harm had been done (on the scorebard) . Don't take my word for it see for yourself on catch-up. .
First yellow seemed marginal, may habe been a team yellow. 2nd more clear cut. Canada's 3rd try was poor, O'Brien took too long to gather the ball and then didn't take responsibility for clearing. Instead, gave a man and ball pass to her colleague leading to turnover and try. Aoife Wafer is world class, and if there was a Women's Lions series, she'd 100% be in the backrow....
First yellow was a work of fiction by a very inconsistent referee; the PT was for an offence that was a highly questionable judgement call and Canada’s second was off a knock on and possibly forward pass which should have been reviewed, and the third came from the nocturnal that could not possibly have been made legally. And again the referee interfered with the Irish lineouts, for them to change their tactics and calls. I’m a Canadian and I’m happy we won, but that was nonsense.
@@lloydbeattie9370 I have no problem with white jerseys (gotta wear something when we play Wales!), and I even like the leaf pattern on the front, but the green sponsorship seems out of place, especially when playing Ireland.
Soooo many fans now, including myself in the past, have complained about World Rugby posting results as the headline to your game and highlight videos. Can I ask, why you continue to do it? It’s been years of this - I think you stopped doing it for a while, but now you’re back. Literally every rugby video where you publish the results in the headline, it gets numerous complaints. I’m just really curious on how you’ve arrived at this standard? It seems your current decisions are taking the joy out of the little time your fans have, to finally catch up on the rugby highlights. It’s so small, yet so big. Just do it. You know you wanna. Sheesh.
Soup of peas is always in the menu in Canada, very physical team. They eat France & ireland for beakfast. Would see a game against New Zealand or England. Good job gals 👍
Why bother holding the series in Canada when even the home team can’t attract more than a few hundred people? Embarrassing and doing a huge disservice to the players!
Canadian rugby should be ashamed the crowds even for their own country games are abysmal In europoe these games would be getting crowds in the 10s of thousands

Just a guess it's cos red-green confusion is the most common form of color blindness.
