As well as the players, obviously, this was a triumph for the Irish coaching staff - you could see their influence on particular set plays and protection of the ball carrier in the maul
If you want to speed up the game Injuries should be assessed by the Ref if Bandages, etc. that can be done off the field of play. Major injuries taken off the field. You are supposed to be in shape and not need a break or water after all they are not plants. This game like the others make you wonder why they make new rules when you don’t even call or follow the old rules. Example the hooker throws in the ball at lineout but they are standing in the middle of the side line. So when they throw the ball in the player shift all their weight to their toes which is actually is throwing the ball from the playing field and not from out of bounds. Another is when a player is tackled they are supposed to release the ball when they hit the ground, but they push the ball back to their scrum half or have their hand on it until their player gets it. HOLDING the ball. This Ref was in all the players’ way during play and not positioned correctly to avoid interference.
Can someone explain to me why the "running metres" and other stats are so important? Half time, NZ 5 to 2 running metres, yet only tied game. Knowing the outcome, do stats really matter?
Why are tries that are cancelled because of a prior infringement, before grounding, called "disallowed"? They never were a try, due to the prior infrinement! New Zealand never had 3 tries disallowed as they were never scored as the play should have been halted before the grounding!
No. 'Twas not. The English WXV1 were too good in the last 10. They train for a 100 minute game at relentless pressure. That is why their "tank" seldom runs dry.☘🏴☠
Against an English back-line? The battle must be won in the pack first. Whanging wide, is what a Roses lightning quick, aggressive tackling defensive back-line play thrives off. Hence this loss, the loss to Canada and the Roses.
The TMO during this match was looking for reasons to 0:03 penalize NZ during momentum and after tries. Even the ref had that look on her face, not another call. But well done Ireland for playing a great match to win.
Looks like the rest of the world is overtaking NZ rugby , time the players accepted that getting the black jersey doesn't mean they have made it and there is nothing more to achieve. Both the mens and women's sides lack basic skills such as tactical kicking.
I said something similar, when NZ lost the Pac 4, "they were at risk of becoming mediocre". Wow did the NZ fans try to shout me down! Problem is, for the Ferns, you and I are/were correct. Since 21/10/2023, Ferns have won 5 but lost 6, 11 games at less than 50% win. Before that, Ferns won 16 on the bounce but 6 were against Australa. In the 2020's the ferns have won 21 games but lost 10. That is 2 to 1! a bit better than mediocre. England have played 49 and lost 1.Ferns, who is getting to mediocre first?
@@AndrewUnderwood-pl1ur I said on social media that they were going to struggle in the WXV and I got a lot of heated indignant responses . People simply couldn't see all the advantages the RWC team had which aren't there any more . Key amongst those are coach and star players.
Well done to the Irish lasses. Black Ferns needs to tighten up their D, breakdown and be more clinical to take the TMO out of the picture. The opportunities are there.
Amy Du Plessis was born in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her family immigrated and settled in Invercargill when she was seven. She grew up in New Zealand and has played for the Black Ferns since her debut against the NZ Barbarians in November 2020.
Up the Irish!!!!!!

Ref on field and in booth called penalties that were questionable against NZL. Irish did some including a late neck tackle not called against Irish..
