Just popping in to say, the scrapped 'Final Boss' music actually would've worked for Malus - specifically, during the first "dodge bolts of big explodey death" portion... and then, when you actually get to Malus's feet, Demise of the Ritual kicks in and the big, somber climb begins. Overall, Malus is pretty much the same as final with one or two changes. Really, this just makes me wonder when he was repurposed into the final boss. Would it be possible to get a closer look at the textures attached to Malus' feet during his death animation? It seems as if large chunks of the stone floor were meant to be attached to the bottom of his shoes. If so, it may suggest he was indeed meant to be fixed in one spot as opposed to just choosing to be stationary or having his legs too eroded for walking.
Yes they are! In the beta the clouds would swirl and a beam of light would show the next colossus location, which was reused in the final game for after they are defeated. This demo has a remnant of that time.

"Look at this thing, look at the absolute fucking unit....
Oh yeah you have to kill it, fuck you"
Not that it wasn't already epic, but I feel like it should've been this drawn out in the final game
His death animation looks like Wander's. I wonder if it is a common placeholder, like cocaine valus.

Indeed. But it kinda looks like Wander's falling animation after being caught by the tentacles, maybe it was some kind of placeholder?

Imagine their reaction when they see Pelagia
Malus' teeth are so badass
That was really cool the way he fell
it is very strange in this version to see the malus breathe

Even tho the final death animation is more impactful, it would've been awesome if they kept that and he fell over and destroyed the entire battlefield
