Shadow of the Colossus E3 Demo: Opening Cutscene

- After a great deal of work the E3 Demo's Introductory Cutscene is now viewable for the very first time! Originally the game would default simply to Wander waking up within the Shrine of Worship (like the OPM Demo), although after checking the intro cutscene's data was still in the game's data!
The OP2 model (the shrine itself) for this cutscene was missing however, although thankfully with some clever and lucky work the missing model was added back in and the introduction now largely functions!
Thanks again to Wisi for his hard work!

For those asking for a translation, here's the work I did using a simple transaltor camera app (anyone more versed in Japanese please feel free to correct me):
"Everything is alright, Agro. Let's go."
"Do not touch my horse!"
When the camera pans up to the sky with no audio and a bunch of text shows up, it is the same speech Lord Emon gives about the "intersecting points" and how the Forbidden Lands work. Showing an early version of that scene without the Mask model and the effects behind it.
The talk with Wander and Dormin seems mostly the same, however the app I used was **convinced** after multiple tries that after Wander asks:
"Are you Dormin?"
Dormin replies with :
"I (we) don't understand". Instead of the final version of "Thou art correct".
Again, anyone more well versed and actucally fluent feel free to help out!
Wow. Wander and Dormin's dialogue used to be huge LOL
Also, I'm glad that they changed the way Wander takes the blanket out of Mono's corpse...
Their dialogue is mostly the same, they just take a little longer to respond to each other and the voice effects on Dormin make the speech a bit slower.
interesting to see how anger was used in the intro. doesn't really fit imo, im glad they changed it. i still like the idea of anger being used for the devil fight, though.
I don't, it's a terrible song for Devil
@@mrroblinx Kow Otani composed music for some Kaiju films. The Gamera Trilogy being some of them. There's a piece of music from the 3rd film called "The Descent of Iris". I think it fits Devil really well.
Wow guys! Amazing work! Thanks for the effort!!!
Are the subtitles in Japanese? If so, could someone provide the English translation for us? Especially for the unused part.
Basically the same as the final version except for the two extra Wander lines.
The one where Wander speaks after Agro gets scared by the shrine door opening is "It's okay Agro, let's go."
The one where he speaks after pointing the sword to the shadow people is "get away from my horse!!"
@@lorduncon6869 thank you so much. As I have watched the intro many times, I realized that the most of the lines were the same. But I did not know what the unused parts meant. Thank you so much!!!
@@lorduncon6869 i wish those lines were in the final version, would have set up their bond from the start
I've been on the Team Ico Wiki looking at pictures of Valus from early in development when it had stone eyes. I noticed in one of them Valus doesn't have the club in its right hand. We know that Barba borrowed the crouching mechanic from Valus. But is it possible that Argus borrowed a disarming mechanic from Valus, if one existed? It would explain why Valus had no armor on its hands early in development and why it's club stayed on the ground longer after it's attack.
7:42 the camera focus on 2 empty spots. I think they use to be two Idol's there.
Those are the edges of the shrine(inside), but i suppose that once they were idols.
In the final version there idols of Valus and Gaius are meant to be there, they are invisible in this cut for some reason
@@lbp3revolutionarygroup342 Valus and Gaius should be there, but they are invisible. Made weirder that in the next few shots they appear again just fine and other idols turn invisible instead
Earlier, when the boss statues were more, they went closer to the building's front entrances. The camera looks at those two empty (now) positions. In the ending the early design of the room can be seen in which there are two more positions for statues on each side of the 8 existing ones in each row.
Great video! Will you make a video about the differences?
At 8:31 you can hear a voice hidden behind Dormins voice. Strange wonder what’s up with that
What does Wisi does for a living? It sounds like he is quite the game wizard
He's Gandalf
He's Neo.
This is very long!
Now we need someone to translate this
I have translated a few, the first one when wander was entering the shrine agro was hesitating so wander said "its ok agro lets go." And when the dark spirits tried to attack agro wander said "Stay Away from my horse!!". That's all i translated sadly.
Was this captured on original ps2 hardware?
Judging by the overall quality and lack of aliasing, I'd say it's most likely not recorded on a PS2.
