The Interceptor 650 is a motorcycle we waited a lot for and it was worth the wait. Never before have we experienced a motorcycle like it. Top-of-the-line specs and components and we have ridden it everywhere and come out with a wide grin. It has some niggles as all bikes do but nothing that can't be sorted. Go ahead take a test ride :)

7 minutes into watching and i cannot resist myself from posting this comment rather than first watch it till the end because its brilliant. I myself own an interceptor, an interview would not have kept me interested to watch it further unless its a discussion like this, that has been recorded in a simplest of set up, no irritating background score, unnecessary graphics, fake accent, anchors dressed like we all do for a discussion with our known ones, all this very much relatable. Ashish sharing his experience to which i myself can relate my experience and interaction with this versatile machine, is very real.

Enjoyed the interview. Kept it simple and no fancy accents or show off. So refreshing. Kept the conversation squarely on the bike and the biker. As a fellow owner of an Interceptor, i could relate to most of the points. It's perfect for Indian roads and touring in India. It's a joy to ride all day. Tubeless conversion is worth the upgrade and gives you a lot of peace of mind. Heat, I'm not sure I fully agree as I do feel it gets quite hot. But compared to some of the foreign brands then yes, it's not that hot. Overall, top notch interview.

Down sizing the front sprocket by one tooth, will give you much higher top end in the 6th gear, while upsizing it by one tooth will give you more torque. More torque🥺... Oh yeah, you can then upsize the tyre 😁... Goody goody gumdrops😋

One of the best interviews and frank reviews of the bike I've heard so far and not really any need to look any further, for me it's a great stock bike and with just a few simple, practical mods mentioned in the video can be made to suit virtually every rider at a price that is not going to break the bank.....Really enjoyed the video guys...Thank you so much...My mind is made up...Interceptor all the way...

  • @palashkale

It was really designed for taller guys, the stock seat was too narrow and had very little cushion, which was extremely uncomfortable and a no go for long rides, once I got the seat changed for a wider and more cushioned seat, I realised that my feet were just a bit top toeing, and I'm 6 feet the foot pegs also didn't help, but I could handle it not a big deal, and I get much better comfort, but any of my friends who are shorter than 5 ft 10 in have a really hard time handling my bike and it's also heavy.. I think the stock seat was a last minute decision, otherwise many Indians would have rejected the bike on their first test ride..

@palash i am 5'7" with stock seat on interceptor and my foot fall flat with it and with GT seat it goes more comfortable as it goes more lower and has more comfort so a 6 feet tall guy can totally manage it with any seat yeah actually the problem is for fat people with heavy hips, their hips don't settle on this narrow seat. But for people above 5'6" interceptor is total fine ✅

"A Triumph Street Twin is a modern bike pretending to be a retro bike whereas the RE 650 is a retro bike that's made modern enough to meet EURO 5 specs"
That's what another RUclipsr (DEeMON), who had a Street Twin, said about the the RE 650 and he's right. It's a true 'military-grade' bike that gets the job done, a barebones bike with ABS. Honestly, RE hit the nail on the head with the 650 compared to the Bullets that were riddled with electrical gremlins from poor quality control once they started mass-production of those bikes several years ago. Considering that it's significantly cheaper than other similar retro bikes like the Street Twin and the W800 and that there are tons of aftermarket parts for it, it makes sense as a valid touring bike, and the fact that it's an RE bike, any good mechanic worth their salt (or a responsible rider that knows what they're doing) can fix it making it a valid commuter, too. It's no wonder that it's MCN's retro bike of the year two years running. I've heard from people overseas that have this bike that they typically swap out the rear suspension to something better or put on more comfortable grips to make it more comfortable.
If it were me, I'd get the bike in the Ravishing Red or the Baker Express colour way though, hehe.
Great review. Pretty relaxing to watch like an NHK documentary.

Excellent interaction and excellent view on Interceptor! But what I fell in love with was : you were probably riding on a Yezdi in the very very begining of the video. We had Yezdi at home when I was a child till I migrated to bigger cities for study and work (effectively, we owned the Yezdi between 1974 and 1994). I toured on it thousands of Kms when there were "roads", when there were "so called roads" or when there were no roads! Till today, there is still no other bike I could fall in love as intensively as I could, with Yezdi, though I have ridden plenty of other ones for thousands of kms! That "feel" was and still is "special".
Waiting for cruiser edition of RE650, expected to be launched in 2021 (pillion at home is insisting for tugging along, otherwise, I would have been ok with Interceptor too😃). Hope, I fall in love with that one, as intensively, as I did with our Yezdi of yore!👍

Thanks buddy. The interceptor is a great all round performer, its great for city commutes too, the low end grunt keeps you from flipping gears in traffic. The weight is well managed on this bike, you won’t feel it to be tougher to maneuver it in traffic as you are already riding a UCE
Go ahead buy it and must thank RE for making such a great motorcycle.

Would the bike run lean with the DNA air filter? do we need a fuel booster or a powertronic ecu??

    • @bahl88
      @bahl88 3 года назад +1

A little leaner yes. But the ecu will learn it. I personally don’t think a powertronic is needed. If u need more torque. Go for the minus one tooth front sprocket. U will get 5 -6 % more torque.

In my opinion hollywood handlebars would be more comfortable comparing to this one as it has a nice bend towards the rider, very similar to old Bullet type handlebars. Just sit upright and stretch your arms shoulder wide and you'll be able to reach the grips.

Amazing conversation that covers almost every aspect, the only thing that I found missing with all of the owners who have done minor performance change is the spark plugs, it can make a huge difference in the way the bike pulls from stand still almost everyone has skipped it, with the slip-on and stage 2 filter if you also change the spark plugs to NGK Iridium that grin that Ashish had would be even more wider and evil, if you are reading this try it......😉
