This incredible footage shows an ultra close up of an adult magnapinna spotted in the Indian Ocean in 2023. Thanks to the quality, we are able to observe much closer the movement of the fins.

It seems like all the magna pinnas we've filmed have had totally intact tentacles even though they're incredibly thin and presumably delicate. It's funky, you'd think they would lose chunks of tentacle to predators and the landscape but I guess that doesn't happen to severe degrees very often. Or I'm tripping because they're almost always filmed at weird angles.

This is the midnight or abbysal zone, where finding predators (and predators finding prey) is actually rare and this squid is probable invisible to the predators (because of the transparent body and the nature of the eyes of the predators there).
