    People hate on PD, I used to as well. But it’s simply amazing that they can give you damn near Rolex quality for that price. Especially for any steel models, it’s not much different from a real Rolex. They get better every year.

    Even before the new nh34 movements, this watch is definitely imo the best automatic pagani you can get, and now even better with the new Seiko gmt movement. Also, gotta say the one with the Chinese movement I’ve had for a while now, and other than the hiccup issue with the gmt hand and minute hand skipping when pressing in the crown whilst setting (there is a hack for it) it has been running just fine for me.
    And bloody hell, the clasp finally has proper micro adjusts, hallelujah!!! Bout bloody time
    Female end link is def a nice change.
    Tuck tape (red construction) will get the blue sticker off in one pull
    The subtle changes have made this bloody fantastic!
    Lume is better too, pagani is def killing it, but ya know I’m a huge pagani fan boy!
    Great review as alway Simon!

    Another great review Simon. I'm with you on the movement gaining time - better to always arrive early rather than late!
    Wondering if everything is aligned perfectly; minute, 12 and 24 hour hands? The fixed bezel looks to be spot on.
    I have a Explorer 2 Steinhart which has poor hand alignment and a bezel pressed home too far to the left Such a disappointment A 24 hour hand with a life of its own, although that could be down to a missing dial washer during assembly Very poor quality control from a Swiss made brand.
    Your PD looks to be spot on. Nice dial. The writing is a bit innocuous, and doesn't detract from the overall appearance.
    Happy Easter. 😊

    Great video Simon 👍 Whilst I agree that this on paper is an improvement over the previous version the PD1682, the previous version had a 42mm diameter and a 2 button clasp which are decent IMO. Shame Pagani Design didn’t keep this new version at the same size as the old one.

    These are not genuine SII NH34A movements, but are made in Malaysia or China. This might be a bit nit-picky, but it is not made in Japan, so reliability. I know that Toyotas and Nissan build cars in other regions outside of Japan and no one considers those not to be what the badge indicates. But, in the case of these calibres...The same is true of the 'Pearl' movement in the 42mm V2 - those were not genuine to the factory where Pearl is made and assembled, but another factory wholly unrelated. PD does not disclose that fact when marketing the watch.

    • @WatchtheTime
      @WatchtheTime  Год назад

      Are you sure Martin? Where did you get that information from? If true, another example of PD being deceitful 😢

    • @bidipbo
      @bidipbo Год назад +1

      @@WatchtheTime @Watch the Time I first learned of this on a thread in the Chinese Watch Reddit. They were discussing the provenence of the so-called Pearl movement in the PD-1782 42mm. It turns out that it is not a Pearl(e) movement, but is instead made in another factory in the same city as the Pearl movements. THis was because of the broo-ha-ha about how unreliable each of those movements were -- that it was essentially a crapshoot as to whether the movement worked, or not.
      It was there the same clarification was made about the NH34A. Time Module Inc. is a HK-based firm that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko Group Corporation. "Since 2015, it is wholly owned by Seiko Holdings Group. Time Module (H.K.) Ltd has been replaced by SEIKO Manufacturing (H.K.) but they have retained the brand name TMI." -- diywatch.club/en/blog/whats-the-difference-between-sii-or-tmi-movement
      Now, that article -- and many defenders -- say that they are the same thing, but they aren't. Ask yourself: Why isn't the SII 4R34 available in all of these other brands' watches? The answer is that it is a superior movemnet at a higher price. In fact, there is a large body of evidence of how unreliable the TMI NH series movements are.
      The defenders of TMI movements will answer these questions in the same way: If you had the choice between a Chinese made Mercedes Benz or a German made MB -- for the same price -- which would you choose? İf you had a choice between the Rolex Explorer II Polar dial or the PD-1762 -- for the same price -- which would you choose? Continuing that logic: If you had the choice between a PD-1762 with a TMI NH34A movement or a SII 4R34 -- for the same price -- which would you choose?
      We have all been extolling the virtues of the Seiko movements inside of these micro brands for awhile now, but they are not any more Seiko than a Swatch is an Omega. I should add that it's perhaps more a case of Seiko being deceptive rather than PD. Sure, Swatch Group owns Omega and ETA, but that doesn't mean the ETA inside of a Swatch is superior to an Omega movement made especially for its own models.
