  • What happens when a hurricane and a volcanic eruption combine? Which created the mystery eruption in the 1450s? As part of celebrating 300,000 subscribers on this RUclips channel, I will answer these questions along with several others as posed by my audience in a Q&A video.

One of the reasons I like your channel is you seem to have resisted the RUclips impulse to turn five minutes of content into twenty. Far too often it seems RUclips creators think more is better so they bulk up a small video with barely relevant information.

More is better, for ad revenue, a 20 minute video will make a lot more than a 5 minute one as there will be more ads shown

Congratulations on 300K+ subscribers! I've been watching your videos for years and this is my first comment. Not only do we share the same name, Tim, but also a fascination for volcanoes. Ten year old me lived 40'ish miles from Mount St. Helens when it blew up on May 18, 1980. That morning I was outside and saw the plume shoot up from behind Bell Mountain, which blocked our view of the St. Helens. I ran inside and told my dad who quickly packed us kids up in the Scout and drove us up to the top of Bell Mountain. We literally had one of the best views and watched the eruption all that day. (the wind was blowing the eruption east and we were south west) It was a life changing experience and one of my best memories of my dad. Anyway, love your work and congrats on the well earned success.

The man. The myth. The legend on camera in the flesh!!! I have seen you cameo in on-location videos before, and loved it. I had no great appreciation of nor knowledge of geologic processes of any timescale before subbing to you. Something about your vocal delivery is a bit of an acquired taste, but some of the best things in life are tough to immediately find interest in, and your narration style (for me, at least) went from unique to palatable very quickly. Also, no other anything sounds like you when you narrate, so I knew it was indeed a human I was listening to long before I saw you on a video in the flesh. One more compliment, encased in gratitude… thank you for birthing the interest in volcanism and geologic processes I have always had an appetite for, known or not, and thank you for continuing to feed the thirst for a more complete understanding with well articulated facts and up to date information and images. If your channel and you were to disappear from the internet, a hole would be left that wouldn’t be easy to fill, much unlike the Tonga caldera, which would have been filled with sea water as fast as the magma became lava. (We can only imagine what a sight to behold that would be if you were somehow able to get a camera close enough and timely enough to document the process!)
Thanks again. Please don’t ever stop! Daily videos that are as fascinating as they are informative are posted by vastly fewer channels than drama-based talking heads that dox one another and are the entertainment equivalent of a small town’s local attempt at producing Jerry Springer-esque content). You are as real as the eons and eras of processes that produced and organized rocks in varying layers planet-wide.
It is with no shame that I say pun definitely intended here…
    YOU ROCK!

Congratulations🥳🎈👏.. This is my favorite RUclips channel when it comes to geology.. Because your tempo is perfect and you perfectly combines simplicity and a lot of information in just one video..
Even though I’m not a geologist, I find myself loving geology more and more because of your videos, thank you very much..
They are easy to understand, yet full of detailed and fascinating content that I just knew or I knew it but didn't understand, you are really good teacher because of that.. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!
Really looking forward for the next video you make about earthquake, please take your time, Love from Indonesia:]..

Thanks for taking the time to make your videos. They are short and pack in a lot. I like this format because I can fit it in, it doesn’t take long to watch before heading out.

    Not bad new Tenerife videos:
    - The large Megatrust Landsides, as "La Orotava / Güímar / Micheque / Icod, and your megaTsunamis.
    - The large eruptions previously to the Teide Complex as "Diego Hernandez Ignimbrite & El Abrigo volcano eruption / Fortaleza & Granadilla Ignimbrite eruption / Ucanca Terminal & Adeje, Abona Plinian piroclastic flows / Icod eruptions".

Congratulations with 300K subscribers! It would be great if you could make a video about the Ardnamurchan Peninsula in Scotland. There are people who believe it is an impact structure while others believe it is volcanic in origin. It would be great if you could let us know what you think! Good luck and hope you reach 500k and even 1M subscribers soon. You deserve it!

Congrats! Been watching this channel since pretty much the very beginning back in 2020, and subbed nearly as long. You have made one of the best vulcanology channels on the platform, and I've always learned something new from these videos. Here's to the next milestone!
