This is a VERY SOLID instructional video. I knew NOTHING about creating a glitter tumbler, and now I think I could take it on without having a huge fail because she explained what to do and why to do it so well. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!! That was exactly what we were hoping for - to make people who had never even heard of glitter tumblers be confident that they could make one too!! Thank you for your kind comment that makes my hard work feel worth while for this video!
This is an excellent video. Yes, a bit long but she does an excellent job of going through each step thoroughly yet quickly. The thing that kept me watching was that she got right to the point…not all that intro talking or extra stuff. I tried this and yes, very successful!
I’m just now discovering crafting. Ive never made anything before, but I believe I can definitely make these tumblers now. I was very overwhelmed with where to start. This video takes that anxiety away. Thank you.
I’ve watched this video like 15 times. Making my first glitter tumbler. I appreciate the step by step instructions. I just used my polyurethane spray. Idk why but the epoxy part is the most intimidating to me. Wish me luck 😝
I just watched jennifer makers video on this, and your video is the exact same, just more detailed, great for beginners on the how and why to use this or that, hers is say is for the more advanced and people who just want to make the tumbler. Thanks.
I have been nervous to make a glitter tumbler and I'm so glad I came across this video. Explained everything I needed to know to make a great cup the FIRST TIME! Thank you!!
This is a absolute best instructional video on how to glitter and epoxy a tumbler. I've watched so many of them and the different methods really confused me. This step by step and in detail process has helped. Thanks for all your research on this and putting together an awesome tutorial!!!! You guys are the best! I enjoy your vlogs.
My very first tumbler is tumbling with the first layer of epoxy as we speak! I forgot to take the electrical tape off after the polyeurethane(?), but its off now. Will add new electrical tape once I put the vinyl decal on. I'm excited! I watched your video a half dozen times before I put my turner together!
I really enjoyed the video and am looking forward to trying out glitter tumblers. The reason the electric tape works better is because you can stretch and pull it taught making your straight line. The painters tape is not designed to pull and stretch to get a straight line. Painters tape is laid out to pull off immediately after painting to give you a sharper line with paint. Resin has different consistency.
I’m new to creating these cups and I must say, your tutorial is the best I have seen. I watched many videos to learn different techniques. I could have saved time if I had found your video first. Thank you for sharing.
I love your tutorials! You’re quick, to the point and explain everything so well. II’ve watched others and have almost gone to sleep they are so slow. Thank you so much for your tutorials!
Thank you so much Rachel! I have been wanting to make epoxy tumblers for a few months now but was reluctant because I didn't want to waste the supplies I had bought by making mistakes. But because of your video I now feel more confident in trying my hand at making them.
I was so discouraged about making these but after this video I know I’ll be able to make them now for sure. Thank you for this video, it definitely is the best tutorial out there. You and Tanner are the best!!! 😊
Thank you for such an awesome tutorial! I love that you shared your tips and tricks up front and eliminated some of the trial and error. SO easy to follow!
Thank you SO much for taking the time to got through all the products and steps on how to make these! I have been intimidated at the thought of making glitter tumblers, but you made this sound so easy and lot less threatening that I thought it’d be LOL. This video has me purchasing everything I need to make these as soon as I finished watching. I love how detailed yalls videos are. Love watching!
Awesome video!! Electrical tape works better because you can stretch and manipulate it easier than painters tape. Also using a heat gun or a torch on the cup after you apply the epoxy and it's been spinning about 20 minutes helps so much with air bubbles!!! Chunky glitter is easier to use if you apply it with epoxy instead of mod podge or loctite. Also remind viewers of the safety risks of using epoxy, not everyone can use it and newer companies aren't explaining that it can be very dangerous if not handled correctly.. ventilation and PPE are very very important!! And please follow the steps from manufacturer and let the epoxy cure fully!
Does it help only with big bubbles? I'm looking at my 2nd attempt and there are a lot of tiny tiny tiny, what looks like bubbles on the bottle I was working with. is it also better to use a "solid" bottle rather than a clear bottle where you can see sort of see through it? (no glitter were used, just used it to seal vinyls)
How apt is the title. every tip and trick you need to learn about tumbler art is here. I got my cup turner from Homeproshop on Amazon and I can't wait to start my project. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You answer questions for me. I've ran into the error of roving my tape and not replacing to leave room for a smooth finish with my epoxy. Thank You again.
omg, THANK YOU! I am so new to this. I've always loved crafting but usually I purchased what I needed. However, since this Covid-19 has changed our lives a bit, I decided to fall in and work on my creative self and endeavours. I love this video and your entire site. I'm ecstatic each day I get up to create and bring joy to others. You've been very helpful in that joyfullness.
My students and I watched this as we were making our first tumbler!!! We are fundraising for a trip to Leadership camp at Disney World. We also bought a year membership at MGL so we could use your designs.
Hello again Rachel, amazingly done. You truly are a great researcher and teacher. A professor at heart. Thank you..thank you..thank you for taking the time, energy and patience to do AL THIS WORK! It makes life a breeze and you are a very reliable source. Your teaching techniques are excellent!! I learn much from you. Thank you, Karidad
I am so happy I did not run out and purchase all the products I THOUGHT I needed for this project! I absolutely love this video it has been the most informative and great step by step process!! I may have misunderstood but I thought she had a list of all of the steps. Is there an actual list or is it just how she explained each step.
I get a ton of requests for tumblers and I will definitely use this guide. You guys/gals are amazing love love love following you. Can you show us a video of applying a water decal to the tumblers?? please :) Much Love and Respect
Wow you did an AmAZing tutorial !!! I’ve watched a few and you killed it, and made it so much easier !!! Thank you 😊 I immediately clicked on your links added to cart but due to the pandemic no rubbing alcohol to be found in any stores 😭
Thank you so much!! Your kind words mean the world to me! Yes, I've heard there is no rubbing alcohol anywhere haha! As long as you think the cup is good and clean you can continue without it :)
Thank you for all the tips and hacks. I finally decided to pull out my cup turner and use it, that I got for Christmas last year. I have the confidence to use it. Wish me luck!
You told us how to create the tumblers step by step, now I hope for the next video you make you can add in what you use to make your project and where you found that product. Since you haven't included the name of everything I will need to go back watch and pause to get the names of everything you use. Thank you for the video it was by far the best one I have seen and you spoke clearly. Have a great day😊
I would put the tumbler on the turner first...set the turner inside the box then spray the with Adhesive as it’s turning....add the glitter as it’s rotating...( put paper underneath to catch extra glitter) when that’s done pull the turner out and do your epoxy.... 🤗
TY SO MUCH. GREAT TUTORIAL I'VE SEEN SO FAR. VERY DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE. I HAVE EVERYTHING BUT THE TUMBLER TURNER & SPRAY ADHESIVE AND SEALER. GOING TO WALLY WORLD NOW. SO EXCITED TO GET STARTED. I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT. TTYL
Great tutorial!! Make sure to properly prep your cup by sanding before all steps to ensure the epoxy sticks and doesn't peel off, also nitrile gloves, mask and silicone brush, not a paint brush; they are reusable. Also cure time should be about 72 hours not 24. Great video for beginners! Maybe add temperature/epoxy issues also
Thank you for this pros and cons list, all in one video! You look great here too, I love your hair length this long. Again, it was very detailed and informative 👍

I have been watching videos on making tumblers using store-bought alcohol inks which were great. THEN I saw the DIY alcohol inks. What is your take on DIY vs. store-bought alcohol inks? Would you be willing to do a tutorial/test video with these types of inks?
I have watched this video all the way through and was doing a Mother’s Day cup and ad a beginner i have just been using alcohol inks like my past glitter mugs was a fail but I just did a curvy 12 oz tumbler as a Mother’s Day gift and I used your method but with mod podge then Tomm I’ll coat it with epoxy . Talk about less mess and way easier
What a great video! Makes glitter tumblers less intimidating 😊. Can you hold off on adding the second layer for a bit or does it have to be soon after the first layer dries? It would be so nice to make a couple of these to have on hand ready personalise for 'quick' gifts.
Thank you, Norma! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. They're very fun to make! When I was finished I felt so good about all the time I had put into the craft! Very rewarding!
I love you, and your videos! THanks for much for all the guidance. You give the BEST information and I appreciate all the hard work you gather to make these perfect videos!
I’ve seen in videos that using a silicone brush will be better than an actual paint brush when applying the epoxy...great pointers thanks for sharing!!
Thank you very much!! Personal preference :) And because it has a cleaner look. It's hard to evenly epoxy the entire bottom and the rim and get it to look professional :)
Thanks for the details in making the tumbler, I absolutely love and appreciate how you instruct. I am looking for the 17 step by step you mentioned, having trouble locating it, any hints as to how to get them?
As far as your base color cup, it will change the color of the glitter if you use translucent glitters. Stainless steel bare will give you a grayer cast to your glitter. A white base or a coordinating base color will give you a more true glitter color. You can buy the plain stainless cup and spray paint your base color. You can also choose different base colors to change your glitter colors. I have a translucent iridescent glitter mix that is pinks and purples and blues over a white base, and turqoise, green, and darker blues over a black base. Just more ways to play and create.
ahhhh Rachel! THANK YOU for this tutorial! i’m ready to try one next weekend!! just a couple of quick questions bc i’m super new to this. 1) are the fumes really that strong and what space would you recommend to make these if we don’t have a designated craft room & 2) are these dishwasher safe? ty! ♥️
Maddie, I had my first tumbler going on the turner when I found this video. Learned the hard way, yes the fumes are that strong. I didn't really smell it but after I felt it. Definatly wear a mask and do it in a well ventilated area. By the way, I am now hooked and can't wait to do more 😊
maddieeexo No, the stainless steel tumblers are not DW safe. With or without epoxy, they should never go in the DW. And yes, the fumes are strong. I would suggest doing this in a very well ventilated area, such as a garage or use a ventilation mask when working with epoxy.
Polycrylic will not work for this because you are sealing two different layers of glitter which needs a good thick sealer in order to seal thick enough for the vinyl to go on smooth.
Makers Gonna Learn has a new video of making a tumbler in 15 minutes with the UV Resin. Does that work just as well as what you do here? do both processes create a nice smooth surface on the tumbler? After watching the UV resin video, that didn't seem as smooth but hard to tell with video.
Maybe I missed this in video, but IF you are going to sand, how long do you wait? After the 6ish hours of spinning? Or 24hours? Or is it after the tacky feeling is gone? Thanks. Loved watching this, I’m only on my first glitter cup, did a plain cup but no sanding needed.
First I want to say that I just came across this channel this weekend and it's awesome! I have a question when doing glitter are you able to go all the way to top and bottom of the cup? Or do you recommend at least taping the top?
Awe, thanks!! We do recommend taping the top, only because it helps the lid secure better, whereas if you didn't tape your glitter or epoxy could make a mess around the edge where your lid needs to go.
If you use chunky glitter and want to add a monogram, etc, could you get away with sanding just the area / section of the tumbler where the monogram , etc will go? Or do you * really * need to sand the entire surface?
This is a VERY SOLID instructional video. I knew NOTHING about creating a glitter tumbler, and now I think I could take it on without having a huge fail because she explained what to do and why to do it so well. Thank you.

This was fabulous!!! It helped a lot because I have been watching so many videos on tumblers and it was rattling my brain just a little. Now, I do have a request regarding alcohol inks. I have been watching videos on making tumblers using store-bought alcohol inks which were great. THEN I saw the DIY alcohol inks. What is your take on DIY vs. store-bought alcohol inks? Would you be willing to do a tutorial/test video with these types of inks?
We have not used these yet! We will test them, thanks for the suggestion!
Thank you so much for sharing. I love how you clearly explained each product and steps.
You are so welcome!
The best, most thorough video, by far.
Well thank you so much, friend!! :)
Great video and thanks for comparing all that stuff!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have watched this video all the way through and was doing a Mother’s Day cup and ad a beginner i have just been using alcohol inks like my past glitter mugs was a fail but I just did a curvy 12 oz tumbler as a Mother’s Day gift and I used your method but with mod podge then Tomm I’ll coat it with epoxy . good for you! yay!
Great video! Very informative!! Haven't seen a video like this! Thank u so much. I love the fact that u compared different methods.
So glad you liked our video. Thank you for watching! :)
Thank you for the step by step. This was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Your explanation is great!! Thank you for sharing! I understand the process so much better than the other ones who tryed to explain the steps.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for your kind words :)
Thank you for all of the great information!
You're so welcome!
Great job Racheal, I enjoy all your tutorials. You are a truly a great teacher. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Maria! That is so sweet of you to say. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
Rachel as always you have done a great job showing how to make these tumblers! I enjoy all of your tutorials,🤗
Thank you for watching :)
What a great video! Makes glitter tumblers less intimidating 😊. Can you hold off on adding the second layer for a bit or does it have to be soon after the first layer dries? It would be so nice to make a couple of these to have on hand ready personalise for 'quick' gifts.
Great question! No ma'am, you can leave them with 1 layer as long as you'd like. That's an incredible idea as well!
Awesome tutorial! I’ve never made a glitter tumbler but I will now! Great job as usual.
Well, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoy the videos!
this was The BEST glitter tumbler tutorial!!!
Awesome awesome tutorial. I can’t wait to try this because of YOUR tutorial. Thank you
Thank you so much for watching, Angie! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video :)
Wow what incredible tutorial. The best of the best. Thank you so much for all your hard work for all of us.
YAY! You're so welcome Anabella, Thanks for watching!
I’ve seen in videos that using a silicone brush will be better than an actual paint brush when applying the epoxy...great pointers thanks for sharing!!
YAY! Thank you for watching :)
I am looking for the 17 step by step you mentioned, having trouble locating it, any hints as to how to get them? Thank you.
Best tutorial I've seen! Now I feel like I can do this. Thanks
You totally CAN do this! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
I love this video, the steps by steps are very well explained. One question, why do you leave an edge and not glitter till the top and bottom?
Thank you very much!! Personal preference :) And because it has a cleaner look. It's hard to evenly epoxy the entire bottom and the rim and get it to look professional :)
This is the greatest video. Thank you so much. Hugs ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks for a great video. Best I've watched, and I've watched MANY!! Thanks again!
Thanks for the details in making the tumbler, I absolutely love and appreciate how you instruct. I am looking for the 17 step by step you mentioned, having trouble locating it, any hints as to how to get them?
You can find them by following the link in THIS videos' description :) ruclips.net/video/zOuDcwEQsII/видео.html
Thanks for the tutorial! You made it look so much easier than what I thought it would be!
YAY! Thank you for watching
Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
Nitrile gloves along with a mask that blocks organic vapor should be used when working with epoxy.
I caught that too
Just came to mention the nitrile gloves should be used, not the ones she suggested.
Getting ready to make my first tumbler on Tuesday. (Waiting for glitter to come in the mail) I’m excited
Yay!
What about using chunky n fine glitter at the same time. Like first layer chunky, second fine. I wonder what that result would be.
You can mix glitters if you'd like :)
Thank you for the work that went into this tutorial - helped so much.
Great to hear! Thank you!
Thanks so much. Very detailed instructions. I have one question, are these hand wash only or can they be put in dishwasher?
You can dishwash these! :)
I actually like the way the decal looks unsanded (chunky glitter, looks metallic).
I kind of like it too
As far as your base color cup, it will change the color of the glitter if you use translucent glitters. Stainless steel bare will give you a grayer cast to your glitter. A white base or a coordinating base color will give you a more true glitter color. You can buy the plain stainless cup and spray paint your base color. I have a translucent iridescent glitter mix that is pinks and purples and blues over a white base, and turqoise, green, and darker blues over a black base. Just more ways to play and create.
You are amazing! thanks for sharing 💖
ahhhh Rachel!
Love your videos ! I was wondering can I use polycyclic then use only one layer of epoxy?
Not sure if the polycyclic will effect the epoxy.
Thanks
Polycrylic will not work for this because you are sealing two different layers of glitter which needs a good thick sealer in order to seal thick enough for the vinyl to go on smooth.
Makers Gonna Learn has a new video of making a tumbler in 15 minutes with the UV Resin. Does that work just as well as what you do here? do both processes create a nice smooth surface on the tumbler? After watching the UV resin video, that didn't seem as smooth but hard to tell with video.
Love this video, helped a lot,we’re do you get the righting.
So glad i found this video. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Thank YOU for watching and commenting!
@@MakersGonnaLearn got it. Thank you! This helps a lot.
If you use chunky glitter and want to add a monogram, etc, could you get away with sanding just the area / section of the tumbler where the monogram , etc will go? Or do you * really * need to sand the entire surface?
From our testing it was best to sand the entire surface.
I’d love to know if after you sand it and apply the epoxy does the glitter still shine as normal? 😊😊
