The Garífuna are native of St Vincent and they where exiled from there March 11,1797 so they migrated to the Island of Roatan right of the coast of Honduras from there they started to migrate to the mainland of the coast of Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

The people in the video are more than likely creole and not garifuna. The garifuna population in Nicaragua is small and concentrated is certain communities like Orinoco, la fe, laguna de perlas, San vicente just to name a few. When it comes to black people in Nicaragua the majority are creole whom are mostly descendants of Jamaicans.

She cooks her rice n peas like us (Jamaicans) with coconut milk.. Rundown is a Jamaican dish (Mackrel or saltfish rundown) and eaten normally with grown provision and boil dumplings.
In Grenada its called oildown!!! That is how Jamaicans baked in the olden days, I wonder if she makes sweet potato pudding also!!

A Garifuna is an African (indigenous), black person. There is a portion of West Africa where the Garifuna can be traced to. Garifuna can be found in Honduras, Guatemala and Belize. All Central American Countries, Belize being a predominantly English speaking country. You should plan a Belize trip and you can visit the parts of Belize where the Garifuna can be found. Interesting people and culture!

I love this Africa- Nicaraguan hard working middle age lady, Ace pure love she invited you over her humble home and show you the decent way her and her grown kids earn their money 💴, her cooking Rundown it’s authentic Afro Nicaraguan dish so yummy 😋.! God bless her always. I
    BTW all Africans Nicaraguans
History facts shows that their ancestors were brought as sleeves to Nicaragua 🇳🇮 Costa Atlántica or to the Caribbean. Coast… And why Im saying all these facts it’s because I’d read some wrongful comments from some ppl saying that they’re mix from Jamaica and that is wrong bc they are not Jamaicans, they just a different type of Afro decendents
and I’m not saying there may be some Jamaica immigrated to Nicaragua later years later and it could be some are mix but it’s on They consider to be also English and Afro Nicaraguan decendents… Btw and I’m an Nicaraguan as well but my mix or roots are, Spanish, native or mestizo Nicaraguan yes, only because I speak Spanish that doesn’t make me a person from Colombia 🇨🇴 or from Panama 🇵🇦 we are Nicaraguans Latinos or Afro Nicaraguans like in her case. My mother best friend her name is Alma her hubby Floy Hamilton… Read have you ever asked your self this question…Who brought slaves to Nicaragua?
Most people are mestizos, or natives and Spanish combined. The British brought black slaves to Nicaragua to work on plantations in the 17th century. Many Nicaraguans are descendants of the slaves.
is from Bluefield. To finish Alma my mother’s best friend story Actually her dad was from England ancestors he was blue eyes an white person and her mom was Afro Nicaraguan that is a very common mix at Bluefield in Nicaragua Caribbean coast. I want to put other and clear up assumptions from history facts. Thank you for sharing all these videos from Nicaragua 🇳🇮.! I enjoy them so much ❤.! 👍

The Garifuna's are native to St Vincent and were brought to Belize by the English. ( Costa Rica, Nicaragua), That way of cooking is the same as in the Caribbean islands. I grew up cooking that way.

Ace, what I love about your channel, is that you get along with people. You are not stuffy neither do you feel like you are better than the people or places you visit. There is a sweet humanity to you and your channel my brother. Eternal blessings to you and your channel.

Their English is really good. I don't really try many different foods, but I respect the culture.

People on the comments are MAD rude. Bro does it really matter what she uses to cook food? She literally took the time to invite a stranger to her home and cook him a meal with love. That’s real right there. I’m from Costa Rica, and grew up in an indigenous reserve that, and my house was built on top of a tree. This woman’s house is like living in luxury in comparison to how I grew up, but we are well maneje individuals, my mom had cooked for many Americans and Europeans who would come to see our tribe. And we never asked for money. Sometimes u meet ppl in life that may not have a lot of money but their character is gold. I live in New York now and watching videos like this makes me remember life in Costa Rica as an Afro-indigenous. I also have family from Nicaragua and Panama. All of us that have African descent living in Hispanic countries, share a lot of similarities.
