Hey dude you got my sub, I'm from Honduras and the fact that you're shining the light here is EPIC. Keep doing it man, buy that house in Roatan lol
Let's do It. Just subscribed. GOD bless you
The lady, and others in her vicinity, you bought the food from, showed their ignorance in their attitude when you asked her if she was part of the Garifuna community. It use to be the same thing in Belize.
Mental slavery and the seeking of validation from white people are two of the many things preventing black people around the world from uniting. Mr. Walter Eubanks said it right, " the Garifunas kept their culture, we lost ours but we are brothers". One thing we all know is that wherever black people landed around the world due to slavery, their ancestors were from Africa. Many were forced to loose their language, a few like us Garifunas, fought to maintain ours.
Hi guys my name is Julio Hernandez I’m the local that showed Ace around, when we talked about the prices of land (lots) or house I wasn’t talking about West End or West Bay, we don’t even mention the areas, I was talking about other communities, most common sense if it’s the touristic area you already know prices will be crazy (high, expensive) let me just clear that part up cause I’m tired of seeing all these negative comments and sad that it’s all local islanders mostly trying to bring down ourselves instead of supporting and uplifting each other’s, still I invite you guys to visit Roatán we are some really nice people and you’ll love it here, stay blessed.
Awesome helpingYoung man 👍🏼💪🏽Ace....You 3👍🏼😪
@@richardj.chaparrosr.9810 Thank you Mr. Richard stay blessed.
Just wanted to correct you the English didn’t arrive into the Caribbean until the 16th century the Spanish were in the Caribbean a whole century prior so therefore after the indigenous languages that were there first English WAS NOT the first EUROPEAN language SPANISH was . Then English pirates came a century later and started leaving English
Thank you for that information. What were some of the indigenous languages b4 the Spanish arrived? 👍🏾👍🏿💥😊
You did a great job showing Ace around & telling him about the history of the place.I see in the comments some people are correcting things etc , but i don't know if right or wrong , but i do know this , you expressed a brotherly love to an outsider , in a time where most people find it too much trouble to respond to a simple hello , so salute to you bro from the UK , nuff respect to you bro.
Proud to be Honduran Caribbean 🫶🏼🌴🇭🇳
Shouts out to the tour guide. My guy seem cool af. And of course shouts out to Ace for giving us more inspiration 🙏🏾

I was there last weekend. Roatan is a Gem.....Best vacation in a while...Absolutely Safe and Inexpensive.
Is it really humid all times of the year?
@@checkdacontract It was not bad it does not rain everyday like florida so little hummidity
@@1906james Sounds perfect. I'll plan a trip down there soon before my passport expires. Thanks for the info. 👊🏾
@@checkdacontract Stay in West Bay and party in West End , enjoy.
I was there 3 weeks ago. Definitely a hidden gem. I also didn’t know how widely English was spoken till my driver picked me up at the airport. As a Jamaican, it felt familiar yet different. I actually stayed across the street from where the video started. Definitely plan to come back.
What do you feel are the differences in Roatan & Jamaica? Thank you for your time.
@@robertcarlclayton7724 hmmmm the food was similar but the spices and method of cooking were different. Roatan also had more starch-based foods like corn and yuca that’s more typical of Latin American cuisine. It also felt more close knit which I guess is due to the small size. I felt safer there than I did in Jamaica. I rented a motorcycle and rode the length of the island which I’d be reluctant to do in Jamaica by myself.
@@stefanossmitty3318 thank you for you comparison
We used to drink Sorrel during Christmas and eat Ackee in Honduras back in the day. I think that has died out with many West Indian descendants in Honduras.@@stefanossmitty3318
They sound like a mix between Bahamian and Trinidadian, that's very interesting,I wanna take a deep dive in their history.
Come visit us sir, you’ll love it here.
A lot of the dishes is familiar to Bahamians looks good
Cheers to all our Islanders 🇭🇳❤️🇭🇳
AS an afro american, this is amazing, that cornmeal cake looks good. Very similar to soul food.
This was all new news for me.
Honduras was English speaking first, WOW. Words cannot express how unique this island is. Thanks Ace for the education.
Roatan was colonized by the British. It was given to Honduras in 1859
It was called the mosquito coast and the bay islands of Honduras was a part of it . The British basically exchanged the islands for southern Belize
You got your info wrong. Never Honduras has english as first language. The first languages spoken in Honduras were Natives languages as Mayan and its tribes, Tulopan, Miskitos and other groups. Then the Spaniards came and established town in the early 1500's. With them came the Spanish language that turn to be the main language. By the 16th century british pirates arrived in Roatan and the other islands, and build a community. So Roatan, Utila and Guanaja were the islands were english prevailed over the Spanish. Main land Honduras was Native and Spanish speaking to this day.
Wrong. Honduras first european language was Spanish since the 1500's, on the main land, the English controlled Roatan and the other islands nearby by the 17th century.
@@paulfiguer6313 The first Europeans who discovered the islands were the Spaniards, Christopher Columbus discovered Guanaja in 1502 then by 1600 the islands became a hideout of pirates like Morgan and Coxen.
The truth about Honduras from MY perspective - a local in Honduras. Roatan really doesn't feel like Honduras the mainland, at all. The culture the food the language is ALL different, and that's not a bad thing, it's actually pretty cool and that's what makes WAY more diverse than any other Central American country.
Sooo true I'm actually from the Bay Islands of Honduras my self and now lives in USA and have travel around a bit.
And there no other's like it I'd say....that's how beautiful and unique Roatan is guy's.
Shout out to the tour guy and Ace for sharing 🎉😊😊
In Guatemala we have Livingston which has the same feel of Roatan. Everyone there is garífuna and speak their own language as well. It doesn’t feel like the rest of Guatemala as well
@@foreverlovesophie is the same in what today is nicareggae, haha Places like Bluefields ,corn island etc these are located in what was the miskitu kingso1m once it belonged to the British and still be British through all the history and cultural stuffs
We feel the same way where I’m from from the East Coast of Nicaragua from Bilwi, where we speak English we adopted Spanish lately and other indigenous language my grandfather was from Bluefields, and he never spoke a word in Spanish that I remember my grandma is from a indigenous community, and she never spoke Spanish as wellwe spoke at home was mosquito and and we never felt part of the central government. It’s a unique identity that I still carry with me.
Viva Honduras 🇭🇳.
I hope you like HONDURAS beautiful people that is my Country I love it
Roatan is my little secret favorite place ever...glad its finally getting its due!
I make videos in Africa
That’s good and bad. I went 3 weeks ago and on one hand I want to tell everyone I know to go visit and on the other hand, I want to keep the secret to myself.
@@stefanossmitty3318 thats my predominate feeling about the place; being going for a while and i honestly am SHOCKED that more people dont know about it(and i like that too)
People always talk about Brazil and Columbia for the "baddies", but Rotan per square mile is like a contender in that regard....its really unbelievable
Let’s keep it that way! We don’t want another Copacabana
Went on a cruise and Honduras was by far the best location
Roatan has two types of blacks, Ingleses and Garifuna. Ingleses descend mostly from Cayman Islanders and to a lesser degree Jamaicans. We still retained the English of our ancestors as you saw. Roatan is the first place Garifuna landed in Central America and they branched out from there!!
Punta Gorda was the first settlement of the Garifunas in Honduras, and is located on the east end of Roatan.
@@cueroysalado1221 Yup
Fact’s.
I love how rich the history of our country is . We most preserve it!
I agreed with what you say but only the English part. English was impose on us by the Europeans. So the original language has been lost.
Oh my gosh. The people there seem so nice. I really want to go. 😊
Now you need to go to Cayos Cochinos, is close to roatan . It’s a gorgeous island 🏝️🥰
Cayos,Guanaja,Utila…
I went to Roatan on a cruise once. That Honduras sun hits DIFFERENT. I got burnt up. Never in my life had sun burn before that haha. Still a beautiful place and I would love to go back on my own!

Mrs.Karol I like your food.I wish I can come to Roatan Island.Admiration from Papua New Guinea in the Pacific.
Simplicity and tranquillity. loving the scenic views in Honduras 🙌🏽
I recommend you watch some videos of Utila it's a smaller island located next to Roatan.
Because of you I'm REALLY considering making the move to Roatan!

Yep got to go
This October will be my 6 times going to ROA since 2015. I even got married there in 2018. Love the chill vibe. I totally get disconnected from the US world when I’m in ROA. ROA will definitely be a place I will live few months out the yr when I retire in 7 yrs.

I already have my own place in the Dominican Republic and I have a few houses in Haiti north side. I can leave right now with 20k and I will be a happy man. I wish you the best.
