I have been to Cuba 3 times in the nineties for holidays. I am a black man from the UK 62 years old now.
What I immediately noticed was the comfort disparity between the white skinned Cubans and the dark skinned Cubans. In the hotels you will see dark skinned women cleaning the hotel rooms. But when it comes to front desk and reception work, all white. Same thing with waiter/Waitress work all white. I started thinking all the black people had died out until we were taken on a coach trip to a little market in Havana hidden in the back ways. That's when I noticed that all the sellers were black like me.
It's like the Cuban powers that be don't want you to know that Black people exist in cuba. After all, it was the African slaves that built cuba up. The only time they are not afraid to push blacks to the front is at the Olympic games to participate in boxing.

We stayed at a nice Airbnb for about $30 a night, 2 bedrooms and we paid $5 a person for a cook to come and make breakfast for us. We went to Vinales to a tobacco far and got cigars. Thanks for exposing this side of Cuba, Ace. Always there is a lot to learn in every circumstance. Whether it be in Capitalist States or Communist States our peoples of African descents are treated just the same whether explicitly or implicitly. That is why the dots must be connected irrespective of politics to understand the realities of the plights facing all, in order of the outcome to assist and improve each other's well-being. Families are families despite the fragmentations and disconnections of opposing forces of political divides that must be overcome to address the concerns. One Love❤

    Hi Ace !
The kind of bread you ate in Cuba is not the typical Cuban bread you have tried in Miami. Remember, Cuba is having an economical crisis and all bakeries belong to the government and in its confección they try to use the minimum ingredients to economices them (flour, lard. Etc ). In addition, that bread you ate in that restaurant, it is not the kind of bread regular street Cubans eat. Bread is rationed for regulars…, there are two parallels economies, one for tourists who have good international currency and another for regular Cubans … Socialism is a system which it really does not work because it brings poverty to the majority of the people. Government officials are usually the rich living well people in the country !

I was in Cuba in May and I enjoyed myself. It was a humbling experience coming from America and spending a week over there. Although I'm not a communist or socialist, I respect Cuba for being able to survive (though barely) even with the embargo. The people there were super friendly and I walked the streets of Havana by myself several days and never felt threatened or at unease.

I've been to old Havana as a tourist and never thought it would be like this for the citizens of Cuba.
Even though the living is humble, you can see the house is clean.
You can see the people living there are gracious and giving.
There is love in their smiles.
    God bless Cuba 🇨🇺

My neighbors are Cubans. I remember when the owner of the property spoke to me in Spanish... I was like.. huh.. he 's as black as me.... it was a shock because I knew they were foreigners but I was thinking from Africa or Haiti since I am more familiar with those countries and people.... however as able I was able to speak with him more on a translation app it was very interesting to know more about the black Cubans... soon after I notice he was just one of many color ( all shades) of Cubans that was visiting his house... I must say they are very beautiful with nice teeth...and have good fashion sense and most of thin or muscle built in nature it appears the men are into themselves in that way ....very good looking shades of color men..all were respectful but curious.... thankfully I am married :). lol they do like to drink and party and keep company but again they are respectful

Cuba is a beautiful country with beautiful people, however the Cuban government is 100 % responsable with all the mess you can find in that country, nobody else. Why not fish, why not water, why not infrastructure, …. and the list goes on and on
