- England to the Sahara, Morocco on my 2010 Triumph Bonneville.
In this, the final part of my journey, I cross the high pass section of the Atlas Mountains, across unpaved tracks, to a tiny oasis on the edge of the Sahara.

One of the great things you have done for motorcycling through your adventurous journeys is show us that all motorcycles are adventure bikes. Seeing you ride that Triumph through the Atlas mountains should be an encouragement to us all. No matter what bike you can get on and ride, you should ride. Anytime, anywhere, can be an adventure, even if you can only ride along with Freddie virtually. Keep up the great work Freddie !
💯
What you don’t need a multi billion pound bike company following you and a film crew whith doctors and security 😂😂😂🤷♂️
Ted Simon showed us this 50 years ago, read Jupiter's Travels!
Agreed & well said !! 👊
That’s very kind of you to say so, thank you Ric🙂
I’m Moroccan and a motorcyclist, riding with my Himalayan. I really love watching your inspiring videos. Thank you for the kind words you said about my country and my people. I hope one day I can come to visit the UK ✌️
Congratulations Freddie and Monica. Absolutely inspiring adventure series.
Fantastically shot and edited. Highlighting the fact that a regular guy wearing regular clothing with a regular motorcycle with minimal planning can have the most amazing experiences.
Well done.
Was Mionica there too?
It's not regular clothing ... It's expensive biking gear made to look like regular clothing.
Thank you so much, Gareth🙌🏻🙂
@tooyoungtobeold8756 it was just me solo🙂
Silly question alert, but when you film yourself riding into the distance, I take it you have to go back for the camera etc afterwards?.😉
Well done Freddie; excellent job. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to get the shots, solo.
What a ride! 👌🏼
Really appreciate it!🙌🏻
At the beginning while you were telling the food story, I was worried that you were putting a pause on the trip because all the food was now coming out like emptying an old radiator 😂
Wow! Thank you Freddie! Spectacular, what a trip with an old Triumph 865! But there were Moto Guzzi motorcycles in the courtyard of the hotel, I think! 👍👍👍
What can I say. I have watched several of your journeys now; and boy, have I enjoyed every single minute. I'm 64 years old, and it's fair to say my life has changed beyond recognition over the past 8 months. I now find myself with time, plenty of time, money, and an excellent level of fitness. I have always wanted a motorbike; have never ridden one. This week I am going to look at a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Supernova. Partly due to your excellent review of that bike. I'm not intending to let lack of experience stand in my way, my first trip will probably be to repeat your journey. Thank you for the inspiration. I know Morocco; I have travelled there 3 times already.
Really pleased you've managed to get so many videos out in such a short space of time. It's been a brilliant series so far, enjoyed it a great deal. Thank you :)
Thank you so much Pete, delighted you enjoyed it!
These have been such a joy to watch and inspiring me to get out more on the bike
Thank you so much🙂
I really enjoyed this series. Amazing Moroco.
Best yet Freddie- and the fact that you have done it without a huge adventure bike and 000s in expensive touring kit and gear is an incredible achievement which you have superbly understated through the series….an eye opener. Thanks!
What a great series Freddie. A real adventure without all the flash gear, just shows what can be done if the determination is there. Hats off to your courage and spirit of adventure, and what tops it off that you created a fantastic record of it for us too. Brilliant.
Your musical choices are MAGNIFICENT! PERFECTION! I'm now speechless and blissed out. 78 yrs old with stage 4 cancer and rockin out in this comfortable chair. 🙂
Oh man… your comment makes me wanna pack my stuff and go riding as long as i can. Time flies. All the best to you. Happy trails.
Top notch videos as always. Very inspirational.
Congratulations, Mr. Doibbs. Mega kudos for the accomplishment. I was reminded, too... when your bike was parked next to some others... that you accomplished the journey with no knobbies on your steed. Most impressive indeed.
Thank you very much!
Die musikalischen Darbietungen in diesem Video sind ein Genuss.
Hi Freddie, thanks for sharing your amazing road trip. It just proves the spirit of adventure is still alive in today's generation as it was in my generation. In 1971 as a young man I set out on a similar trip, only difference being I left my 650cc BSA at home and hitchhiked instead. I made my way through France and Spain and on to Morocco when I ran out of money. Nine months later after working in Gibraltar I returned to Spain, bought an old motorbike from a guy in Granada and set off round the Mediterranean coast. The bike was seriously underpowered (125cc Ossa) but it got me after many adventures through France, Italy and Yugoslavia to Greece and on to Istanbul where I stayed a while before turning for home. Got as far as Nuremberg where the bike finally died and finished off hitching back to England. Your trip reminded me of what an absolute pleasure it was biking on those almost empty continental roads. Looking forward to further adventures on your channel. John.
Your Street Twin has gain a legendary status, thanks to your adventure videos. It should have a reserved place in a Triumph museum.
Loved the adventure Freddie. Your videos are so polished, well presented and informative. You have a very charming presentation style that makes me come back for more. Thank you for all your efforts.
I’m so glad you enjoy the videos, thank you🙂
As a French guy I could say that you are travelling with a lot of « panache ». Because you are a true gentleman rider ! Ride safe and keep going your adventures Freddie !
Wow. Absolutely stunning and to think you’ve done it on a regular bonneville. Also, I love how you share the negative parts of the trip -being ripped off etc. I think when we are tired our guard is down, so don’t feel too bad for being taken advantage of.
I don't think he's been taken advantage of.
He clearly said: He ordered food for 3 people 😅 so that £30 ÷ 3 = 10 .
Next time just order a meal for yourself and if still hungry which i doubt it, with that amount of bread they serve everytime, just order extra salad then eat all the nuts and the biscuits or mini cakes they usually serve with the tea ...
I remember ordering full baguette filled with sausages (merguez) and salad plus chips and a drink for merely £3 and ended up eating the rest of it for my dinner 😅 . It's just matter of planning. Same example for when run out of cash 😮. I just made sure I had 600 cash on me all the time, and kept topping it up everywhere I find places to withdraw cash...
Awesome video nonetheless 👏 👌 definitely brought back lot of memories 👌👍👏
✌❤☘
Hello Freddie, am moroccan living in France, and following your journey, doing the atlas mountains by motorcycle is one of my dreams, so happy to see you on this adventure, don't worry about getting ripped off every now and then in Morocco it's part of the game LOL. Wish you a good trip and keep the videos coming.
Funny thing about the meal cost is that Freddie said he'd pay 3 times the cost of one person. He got out negotiated which is just part of the Moroccan cultural experience.
Moroccan food is in my top 5 favourites in the world, so good.
Big thanks to Freddie and all the sponsors who made this stunning adventure possible.
Hi Freddie. I enjoy watching your videos immensely. The professionalism of the presenting and editing is incredible given the limited resources compared to a professional production team. Some people might not appreciate the amount of work that goes into filming and editing and you and Monika are pulling off something quite remarkable.
Truly remarkable series Freddie. This is better than watching an adventure movie. Thank you so much for the encouragement you give, especially to new riders like me. You stay safe and have a wonderful trip!
Thank you so much!🙌🏻
Fantastic adventure, really enjoy watching your videos. Informative and interesting. Better than any documentary on TV. Well done.
Nice one Freddie. Things are never going to be quite the same again for you after this awesome trip. I think you’ve kicked open an important door here. Can’t wait to see your next journey. Thank you for doing this 🙏 I’ve really enjoyed living this adventure with you. Ride safe.
Perfect Sunday morning viewing ❤
Great series Freddie, I have enjoyed every single minute of your fantastic journey. What an amazing experience! 👍
Delighted you enjoyed it, thank you Michael!
@@FreddieDobbs thanks for sharing your journey and also thank you to Monica for all her hard work behind the scenes, she is very talented putting all the footage together.
Inspirational.
Your beloved bonnie is truly a dream machine.
Keep up the great 👍 work, Fred.
Thanks Arnold🙌🏻🙌🏻
Have to say Freddie, that the music selection during this vlog was absolutely genius. Caught the moments beautifully.
This whole series is fantastic I’m hooked, I’ve got so much respect for you doing this as it would terrify me and your production is fantastic I’m totally immersed, this competes with the best travel programmes I’ve watched and is so authentic, great work
Great adventure, been following your trip, glourious, and with an excellent production, as usual 👍that triumph is also showing we can trust her!
Really enjoyed watching your videos. Thanks for letting me come with you,
Freddie you capture some great B Roll on your Vlogs ... It must take up a lot of time but it makes your videos excellent to watch. A big Thumbs up to Monika's editing. You work as a great team. 👌
Thanks Felix!🙂
Seeing those french adventure bikes all kitted up and you having just as much fun, shows you dont need all the top spec, just a reliable bike.
To be fair you do need a bike set up for off roading if you're planning to go off into the desert/ on rough mountain tracks. And luggage space for sufficient water, fuel, food & tools. That's generally what groups on adventure bikes are up to. That's an entirely different sort of adventure to this one.
Brilliant ... simple as that .... Just, Brilliant
Thank you so much🙌🏻
Thank you so much🙌🏻
What an amazing journey and well edited and presented. I ached for the next video and look forward to the return leg. Its always been my goal to try something like this. Safe travels
HI YOU MUST HAVE THE CONSITUATION OF AN ELEPHANT , dinner for three and a breakfast . Another magical video of your travels , a one man show and thank Monika for her skills . 👍👍😉
Amazing Freddie what you and that Triumph have achieved, who would have thought from all that time ago when you and Monica took the street scrambler off roading. Great achievement.
Ohh Freddie, where did you put a meal for 3? Incredible 😂😂⭐️ Did you save some for lunch for the following day?🤔 Epic journey none the less! This experience is something you will never forget & always remember 🙌💯🤙 Stay cool Freddie, looking for to your continued adventures with Monika later 🌍
I gorged the whole lot down in one go (it took me about 40 minutes😆).
Thanks Steve🙌🏻
I watched this with my wife on the big TV. This is as good as any high budget travel documentary. Thanks Freddie
I found that people were astounded that I did a 2000 mile trip round Europe alone , but hats off Freddie brill vlog ! respect
Thank you for the timely reminder that we are all far more capable than others would have us believe.
Often all we need is a lot of determination and a little bit of luck - your RUclips community of +90k subscribers are a testament to your previous efforts that enable you to share these adventures, and encourage us to follow where we can.
Thank you, from a sunny 20C Felixstowe. Suffolk awaits your safe return.
Congratulations on an inspiring and well produced series. You showed us that you dont need a £20k plus BMW to have an adventure when you can do it on a 2010 Bonny. I've just been to France and back and covered 1200 miles in two days. Makes Morocco seem very feasible now.
Hats off to you Freddie and to the Triumph Bonneville
I've really enjoyed your videos 😊 I absolutely loved my bike trip to Morocco, a fantastic country to ride, with great people! I think you mean Guzzi rather than Ducati for the bikes at the hotel 😉
Freddie thats was brilliantly done, you're a natural and extremely good presenter and traveler, I thoroughly enjoyed your trip to Morocco and especially liked the way you go into detail about the accommodation and food costs, this is what us bikers need to see. on a final note the way you stood in front of that massive map on the wall told me you could also make an excellent weather presenter 🤣. Looking forward to your next episode. Ride safe.
Ive only recently discovered your channel, the first one was the trip to Barcelona camping, which I thought was excellent, this one just blew me away. Everything from the video, the landscape shots, tours of the accomodations make me want to attempt something similar, as a new motorcycle rider it is inspiring content.
Found your review of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and stayed for the ride (catching up on your back catalogue) great video and adventure ❤
Superb trip Freddie, thanks for taking us along . The bike must have taken a beating . You'll have to a debrief and check-over video of the bike post trip .
really been loving the videos Freddie, keep up the amazing work.
Thank you so much Max!
This has been an awe inspiring journey. Incredible videos .
Wow Freddie.. what a ride! So much covered in 8days..one of your best videos and one of the best riding videos that i have viewed. Truly inspiring..
Another great video.
When you were charged 350 for your evening meal you said you ordered food for 3 people and the mountain late lunch was 100 I dont think you were ripped off just paid more than you expected.
Great Mathe steve!!
I was about to say the same! £30 for 3 people is a decent price😅
£12 pp for fish&chips last night, takeaway 😅 Great vid
Freddie, no mate you weren’t ripped off for your large evening meal. Alas I was when I arrived in Casablanca, straight off the plane from Aus and paid an unauthorised travel guide to show me around the place. I ended up paying the guide around 600/dirums for the 3 hr tour. Even so, in truth I didn’t mind as I learnt so much and got see places I probably wouldn’t have. Its all relative. If you had an enjoyable meal then accept it for what it was and think about what it might have cost you back home to have had such an experience. I am sure it would have cost you way more.
I absolutely agree with you though on your summary of your experience in travelling through Morocco. It surely is one of the most amazing countries to visit and from my travels there it remains really special to me.
Most enjoyable Freddie, brilliant indeed!
Excellent video, just stumbled on your channel and got into motorcycles for the first time as a 38 yr old. Thank you for the classy video and good music and composition.
Thanks Freddie.Excellent adventure Mate.Thoroughly enjoyed!
This is an important real world travel documentary and one i will be referencing when i do this trip. Packed full of info and things to watch out for and as always beautifully filmed…i thought monica was the artistic one but clearly you both very gifted! Many thanks for this.
Thanks Freddie and Monica. Absolutely stunning scenery. Should we call you Itchy Dobbs? 🙂
Well done Freddie and well done Bonneville!! Amazing trip. Thank you. Take care travelling back to Monica in Barcelona. 👍 .....and Remember Cash is King!!
Well done Freddie, fantastic journey. Safe home.🏍
Well done Freddie and the Triumph Bonneville. Have a safe trip home
This was like watching a movie in the theater. Music was superb. Editing and story should get an award!
Amazing trip, Freddie and an amazing video with high quality images and sound. So enjoyable. Something that might be of help to you: to save some fuel you freewheeled down the mountain. I'm not sure, but I think the Bonneville has fuel injection. That would mean you consume more fuel freewheeling when the engine is idle. When you release the throttle, the injection pump closes of the fuel completely. But please, freewheel whenever you like. And take us with you.
Well done Freddie. Amazing achievement and truly inspiring. If you have a dream go do it, you don’t need loads of money, prep, or a big support team just some ambition, humility and grit. Having said that definitely try and get a riding buddy for these. I’m done plenty or things that were a bit crazy and certainly I was a bit over my head, but those things are so significantly less dangerous if you have even just one other person who can lend you a hand with a job that’s hard to do solo, remind you when you forget something, look after you if you get sick/hurt and ultimately go get help if things get a bit dire. I know that’s easier said then done, not a lot of people have the same appetite for adventure! One thing I particularly liked was the young man who flagged you down, not just to make a bit of money but I sense genuinely out of a bit of brotherhood wanting to make sure you were safe over those next 90miles. These adventures remind us that there are some great people out there. Started watching your channel with the Barcelona trip so glad to see another adventure. Look forward to the next one.
Memories of reading Jupiter's Travels watching this, Ted Simon I think and he did his ride twice , brilliant video Freddie.
Spectacular Freddie, some of those shots must have taken ages to set up and edit. Love the oasis. Ride safe.
Well, Excellent, truly excellent. Enjoyed every minute of this series.
You get huge lean angles even on dirt roads…respect to you Freddie
Well done Freddie! I’ve really enjoyed following your adventure. I’m fortunate to have been to Morocco a number of times and I concur with your findings, the people are so friendly and hospitable, and the food is delicious. We traveled overland from Marrakesh to Qualidia on the Atlantic coast which is incredibly beautiful, think miles of empty beaches, crashing surf, lagoons with flamingos etc. Worth a trip itself! Have a safe journey home & thanks 😊👍
The thought of things going wrong that far into the bush can certainly be intimidating. But you did it FD!! Much respect. You are a true biker! Epic video!
So many things and achievement to be inspired by! And on top of that, doin it in a white linen shirt!! Pure class man :😊
This has been a sheer joy to follow, brilliant filming, the music complemented the scenery and atmosphere perfectly.
What made this different to other biker adventurers, was Freddie filling in the gaps on what a trip like this entails and particularly costs……well done👍
Where next I wonder🤔
Congratulations pure grit and determination pays off 🎉 what a journey beautiful
Hope you get as many likes as "Ducati/Moto Guzzi" comments (even though you had already corrected it on the video.!)
Anyhoo brilliant quite possibly your best. Hearty congratulations to both of you for such superb film making
Cool Report Beautifull pics , excellent job❤
Heck of an adventure! Can't help but be impressed by your Triumph, the dang thing just keeps going. Cheers Freddie!
Fantastic vid and adventure Freddie, take my hat off to you mate !! 👊 and to the bonnie 🏍️…..
Pretty awesome trip Freddie. Bon voyage for thé return journey.
Great series Freddie & Monika, really enjoyed your videos.
Great adventure and all the better doing it on the Triumph.
Quality videography and editing
Absolutely glued to these 5 Morrocan trip videos... loved every minute. Never owned a motorbike but if I ever take the plunge it's got to be a Triumph Bonneville what a great looking reliable British mile cruncher it is
What unbelievable journeys you show us? You are a truly daring Explorer. And always aware of the little things and details - that is so amazing to watch and enjoy. Freddie Dobbs is what Motorcycling is all about. Just fantastic.Go on, Freddie!
Brilliant video and adventure as always. Love the channel Freddie 👍
Well Freddie, being an old man now with many memories, I rode your route to the gate way to the Sahara 42years ago on a BMW trails, it was at that time for me exiting but a little scary, and yes no electricity in many villages, fuel was more difficult so had to carry 5 gallons extra, I can remember my many trips, till I was married, around my late 30’s, you do a great job of promoting motorcycling, and I admire you and Monica keep up the good work
Ted
Brilliant series, the best you've done and one of the best I've ever watched from any channel. Regarding getting ripped off, the first rule of Arabia, North Africa, etc, is to agree on the price beforehand - otherwise, you've given them all the power, and some will take advantage of that, as you've found out.
So glad you enjoyed it, Jed! Re agreeing a price beforehand- you’re bang on (I made sure to do this after this meal)
What a landscape!
WOW ! what a ride well done that man what a stonking trip in places it looks like life has not changed for hundreds of years and living a basic lifestyle too .The roads that had tarmac looked better the a lot of the UK roads😉 crazy . brilliant scenery with a kind of arid beauty great watch Freddie thanks for sharing 👌👍
Thank you Freddie for this great adventure, I have really enjoyed watching. Morocco looks an amazing country and the people seem great.
Well done Sir, Great adventure, and a very enjoyable watch!
Thank you for taking us with you! Always a joy to watch your videos.
Thank you Freddie for everything! Love your content, style and the way you transfer your emotions to us. I follow you since a longtime and you made me even buy the royal Enfield continental GT 650. Now I see you riding across my country - I am more than happy, hope my people take care of you and give you this real moroccan welcoming feeling :)
A truly brilliant travelogue. I enjoyed every minute
Keep it up Freddie ❤
Wonderful trip and what an ending. You make me feel like I over-plan even the smallest ride now though! Time for a ride.....
That’s some impressive speed on that nice tarmac road.
dobbies you show even on a normal every day road bike you can do something so special and what an insight to the beautiful Atlas mountains etc , and how cheap things can be . Respect
