- I'm finally back in a C63 since getting the F12 and it felt great! I was however disappointed at the same time as the 2019 AMG C63s does not feel as raw as the previous years..

That's the thing, car manufacturers take the piss now, you are paying the same money if not even more and get less. Because of government rules and new emotions bullshit! Thank god for ECU Modders where they can bring all the good stuff back without even changing an exhaust and add more horse power to the car ;)

I bought myself an 09 c63 amg and that loud amazing 6.2l v8 roar really makes the driving experience so much better! It really is as you say, every AMG owner knows that good ass sound we love!

What you needed to do in this video is take some revving clips from your videos with your 2018 C63s (before you modified it) and put them side by side with this car, so we can all hear the difference you are talking about. I'm with you man, Ford took away the V6 Mustang (I have the 2015 V6) in 2018 and kept the lawnmower sounding 4 cylinder Ecoboost. I can't afford the 5.0 but I am damn sure NOT buying that stupid 4cyl!

So cool to see you back in a c63s again Mike! I subbed to you because I was in the market for a C63 or C43 and enjoyed your videos and insight. For various reasons I wound up ordering a 2019 c43 in March and just got it July 1st. It is absolutely gorgeous and an incredible car. So thank you for your help in making my decision buying a MB c class coupe.
For what it’s worth owners of the 2018 c43 say the same thing about the performance exhaust on the 2019s. That it isn’t as loud and less pops and crackles.
Nice review Mike of a really terrific car!...I like the updates/improvements between your 2018 AMGC63S compared to this 2019 model. Realizing that this car is mostly stock, compared to your car, it's still very nice, and I must say I really like the front grille design with the vertical bars a lot. It looks really classy & elegant. Interior upgrades are fantastic, the steering wheel design, the instruments, & the center infotainment screen look great.

same here. I asked about a first stage ecu tune and it's about 3000 dollars in my area...I then did a Cat delete and it's been better now but still quiet compared to the prefacelift.

The new regulations are ruining car sounds. Having said that though, the new AMG GT63S still has those amazing pops/crackles as does the E63S/etc... this may (partly) be an issue with the C63's ECU tune, in fact Raz from RemoveBeforeRace said he's in contact with AMG to find out if they'll release an ECU update. In the mean time, you could always go aftermarket and easily restore the pops/crackles.
You’re right about the new regulations. Just wish he did research before going on for 8 minutes about something we can’t fix about their regulations.

Dude, the new 2020 regulations are ruining the cars sounds, it’s not AMGs fault. They are putting all sorts of stupid filters in there to dimm the sound down. I can tell you that the pops and bangs are also gone on the 2019 Audi S4 & RS4 . The 2018 versions banged and popped like crazy. First you would need to remove those filters and then you would need a ECU upgrade to get the bangs-pops back.

As a 2019 C63s owner I too am disappointed in the complete lack of pops/crackles. There seem to be a number of threads over various forums including the AMG Private Lounge but there is no news from Mercedes/AMG engineers. Some people have complained and have been told it's due to new regulations but other car manufacturers have released their rivals and even the new GLC63s has the pops and crackles and that has the new exhaust.
People keep saying to go aftermarket for a tune but as soon as you do that you risk voiding your warranty on any engine issues. Hopefully Mercedes-Benz and the AMG engineers can bring out an update to resolve the issue as everything else is fantastic. I just wish the cars sounded more like the press cars as that's the reason why I picked this car over the competition.
Hey man this is so weird I don't know what's up with my c63s model then. I'm literally getting cracks and Pops right at 4000 RPM in Sport Plus. It literally sounds exactly like the Press car from remove before race. When he tested the c63s coupe I have the same one in matte black. Just didn't option the carbon ceramics.
If you go through the dealer and get your vehicle modified through renntech just a simple ECU modification or at the Pops and crackles but for some odd reason I don't know how they designed my particular vehicle I'm getting pops and crackles in sport plus mode literally hitting right at 4000 RPM. I have done no renntech modifications. I think I may wait a couple years before I do that ECU modification from renntech. I picked up the vehicle on the 4th of July with 12 miles on it little bit embarrassed I'm already up to 300 as of today.
What years do have the crackle sounds ?
It seems Mercedes AMG has gone for a more traditional V8 sound with no crackles and pops. It's a cleaner sound but not nearly as cool
EagleTalon 97 your right. It’s step one of their plan to get us ready for when the c63 no longer has a v8. Slowly getting used to shittier sounding c63. 17-18 where the peak. All downhill from here.
there are actually crackles but the engine sound in the cabin is being enhanced artificially , so the crackles from the exhaust are getting drowned out.

But you can just simply change the exhaust system. The 9 speed mct, larger center screen and digital speedometer, are not something you can change easily. I have the 19 for half year now, I'm perfectly happy with it.
Terry G good point just sucks to have to do that to get what used to come standard. With my luck I’d buy an 18 and the next day they would release a software update fixing the facelift issue.

honestly depends on what you value the most. I have the 2018 and I prefer mine because the the exterior looks way more aggressive and it sounds a lot better. But the interior for the 2019 is a lot better than mine. kinda jelly cause i wanna be able to switch 64 interior lighting colors lol. besides that tho im happy i got the 18

@autovlog I agree 100% about the sound. I currently have a '17 C43 and had been considering moving up to the C63 in '19 until I test drove one and I was so disappointed with how neutered it sounds compared to the '17-'18 C63s that I have been in before.

I'll take the 9spd and the upgraded interior over the sound. RENNtech can fix the sound issue.
Unfortunately, they can't. Just put a Renntech tune on mine and they use the updated ECU changes from MB as the base tune. They say that they want to keep a good relationship with MB/AMG so they won't mess with that part of the fuel mapping......
I fear that the 9 speed is worse for manual shifting. Right now it takes me several seconds to get from the 7th gear to like 2nd or 3rd gear if you want to overtake quickly. The first down shift always is fast, the second down shift after that takes about 2 seconds most of the time.
Talking of Renntech, I was thinking of getting the tune until last week from Los Angeles to Phoenix I saw E63s and we both gunned it down at 85mph to 136mph! I passed him approximately about 130mph and he couldn’t catch up. He stayed behind me for the next 15 miles where he finally made an exit. I was shocked how my GLC43 AMG SUV pulled soo fast at higher speed. I have 47k miles and car is faster than when I bought it new.

Agreed. I have the 2016 C63s with no performance exhaust and I think it sounds just fine. I opted for the carbon fiber interior/exterior trim, AMG white/black stitched bucket seats, and premium luxury package instead. Took a while to find. Plus the previous owner de-badged the back so I get a lot or puzzled looks😏

i'm the opposite, I wouldnt; buy this car if it did crackle . I can't stand the pops.. the reason why MB doesn't let their car, I assume, is because when it pops = poor tuning.

With the new key ? How do you remove the start stop button and and use it or can you not do that anymore ?
( my car came with the start /stop button but I don't use it so i took it off now i just insert my key and swithx it on like any other car.. There were some security risks with the start stop and took thar action to mitigate a potential concern.

Totally agree. Had an MY16 sedan and now an MY19 coupe and it is quieter. Had to remove the secondary cats to get a bit more noise out of it.
As per AMG manual you’re not supposed to floor their engines like that for the first 1k miles keep under 4500rpm.

Have a 2019 C63s cabriolet fully loaded including ceramic carbon brakes. Love it. Wish it would stay in the last mode selected instead of always defaulting back to comfort.
Strangely people pull up next to me all the time on the highway, roll their window down and give me a big thumbs up.
Not concerned at all about the lack of crackles… More concerned about the lack of maintenance information on it than the sound. I will forever do my own work on it.

100% agree on the subdued sound! I love my 2018 AMG C63s and what I love the most about it, outside of the 503 HPs and 516 ft-lb of torque, is the incredible crackling sound :). I do want to get a race chip/tune. Any suggestions where to go and what specifically to get? Would like to up its power to 650 to 700 horse.
Just tuned mine crank horsepower for me now is 670 horsepower

Gotta agree on the exhaust sound. Lack of the iconic AMG crackles and pops is honestly a complete and total deal breaker for me. Time to move onto McLaren seeing as sound seems to be dead with AMG.

Interesting... I have the complete opposite take on the C63. To me this sounds much, much better. I was really interested in it, but the '18 sounds like giant V8 huffing through a straw masked by the worst crackling in the history of cars. That was the sole reason I didn't buy one and got another E92 M3. This is good news in 2019 for the C63. Now all they have to do is get a real DCT. It's also good news that Steve Dinan is starting to modify these and fix the rear suspension to make these handle decently.

All of your complaints are valid. Personally, I like mine ( I have the sedan version). I wanted a luxury muscle car daily with plenty of utility and the sedan/wagon are as good as it gets. Great and easy to use system once you get used to it, luxurious interior, amazing sound system in a quiet cabin, and that ridiculous v8 sound whenever you want to have some fun. The crackles are still there, just not as easy to achieve.

I also own a 2017 AMG C63s and my lease will be over in 3 months. Last week I went to test drive a 2019 c63s and I also thought the sound was a huge disappointment! The only reason why I like AMG over the M series is the crazy deep exhaust. Now I don’t know if I should go for something else or just buyout my car at the end of the lease

The reduction of the sound is because of new sound emission laws in the EU (and some other places in the world like California).
Disagree. A number of 2019 cars for the press had plenty of pops and crackles. This is something MB did to the cars that are being delivered. I recently got mine, and it has none either. Is it just the crackles that are missing or has the tone changed considerably? I am more concerned about the low frequency rumble at low rpm... is it still the same?
