I remember getting the Titlemaker 3000 and was so happy. Now people are trying to go back to more of a Linear systems. I mean uyes they are mostly Computer controlled, but still old school.
In the conference world we tend to not use any of the wipe transitions very often. On a personal level I'm not a big fan of the T-Bar. It gets in the way. However, there is one scene that I do like using it. That's when we start the main program with a patriotic theme with a Color Guard and a Vocalist singing the National Anthem. I will also have a computer playing a flag waving in the wind on a loop video. I will then use the T-Bar to very slowly transition between the vocalist and the flag with the main focus being the flag more than the vocalist. After all, that moment isn't about the vocalist. But, it still makes for a nice shot. That's been the only time I've ever really used the T-Bar on any switcher. Well, except for the time we pranked our friend Matt with it. Thanks for a great video. This little switcher looks like it has some really good simple capabilities with some really good stuff hidden under the hood.
My primary use of a T-Bar besides slow transitions is to have the ability to bail out or reverse before anyone else can really see what's going on if say video playback didn't fire or I called up the wrong camera.
Great video, covers all the questions I had about the unit. Being able to use the HDMI or the usb output, as either program or preview, is a big plus over the atem mini!
I do both live events that need to send to a projection system and big screens, and I also do on location streaming events, being able to use either the HDMI or the usb out to do both program and preview, makes the unit so much more flexible for my uses over the atem mini! Thx again for the info really helped me make my decision. I've ordered a unit and it's on its way. Will be a great addition to my tech kit 😁👍
The PIP wierd-aspect-ratio modes might be useful for some 3d applications - imagine rendering stuff on two render pcs and then rejoining them as a side-by-side 3d stream going to a projector.
Audio sync was also out when showing embedded audio with AFV. Not as badly out of sync when using the Line In input, but looked like it was out of sync by the three frames we usually expect from HDMI.
Feelworld makes great monitors too - the F6 plus with LUT support is killer. Hopefully they’ll address the issues - seems like a promising product, nice review !
Yeah, there's gonna be latency running the audio separately through a mixer, but it gives you the most control over your audio. OBS can fix that latency.
Good discussion! (Perhaps the external audio imbedding process has more latency?) I guess if there's no Chromakey, there's also no Luma Key, which I would wish for.
Thanks for all the great info. Any updates on some of the short comings, software, audio issues. Regarding audio, I might have missed something. If I have just one mic on my subject but a couple of cameras can I take the audio via HDMI from just the one camera regardless of which camera I am switched to for picture? I really need to pull the trigger on something. I've looked at your other videos about the 2 ATEM options. I may be overloading on info already. Thanks.
Yeah I’m pretty sure you can do that. He mentioned it towards the beginning while talking about sending signals to his laptop for multiview. You can change it so that program is sent to obs
Your review has me sold on this unit. I am looking to use it to capture live performances with synths from multiple angles and switch on the fly. Only problem is I do not have cameras with clean hdmi output. I've spent hours looking trying to source 'action cameras' in the sub-$100 range (preferably closer to $50) and finding any with a spec sheet/list that expressly allows for "clean hdmi output without recording first" is proving to be near impossible. Do you happen to know of any action cameras that fit the bill here, at that price point? Quality of image really isn't that important; direct clean hdmi is required; distortion correction would be ideal. Best I could find is a ThiEYE T5e, but it seems those aren't made any more and are still a bit pricey for this application. Thanks in advance, if you have any answers!
Thank you for putting this together. I'm starting my search for game streaming. I'm going to start by checking out the details and reviews of this unit. I'd really like to know if the picture in picture has on-board borders. I'll research. Thanks again. This was very informative!

I looked up their website and they have firmware 0.40 dated 30.10. which is supposed to fix the compressed aspect ratio in preview and enable selecting one fixed audio source. The things that bother me are: 1) Is it possible scale / zoom / crop a HDMI input that can be necessary in case the camera outputs 16:10 or other aspect ratio and there are black bars. 2) How does the PIP mode work? Is is possible to assign it to be activated automatically when switching to a certain camera or at least enabling a preset PIP easily using single button press?

The Atem mini pro you can record your entire video right on the atem mini. No hooking it into OBS none of that. Just if you just wanna do something like a product review.
It was recorded using QuickTime on my old MacBook Air. If your computer can support webcam recording, it can work with this. Just make sure the frame rate settings are set correctly.
Thanks for the review. What is the ethernet inout for? Is it also a streaming encoder like the Atem Mini Pro? All the features you reviewed make it only sound like a video mixer.
Roland V-02HD is better. External audio syncs or you can offset it. It has chroma key. Downside you need a dongle. Thanks for the review. You saved me money! Yolobox looks like a better deal.
As a VJ (video DJ) I purchased this to be able to come out of my computer and dj controller into a projector plus able to connect a camera or two. How do I do this? My unit unfortunately did not come with a manual. Not interested in the sound. Only video input and output to a projector. Thanks in advance
I'd wait and see "if" they update it. Updates are important, and Blackmagic Design does update their hardware. The sync issue is huge. The computer sees the Atem Mini as a webcam, does this unit do the same thing?

Why is it NOBODY talks about how to actually record the video your making. If i wanna do a product review how do you record. the V1 doesnt have a memory card slot to record internally like the ATEM Mini
Can you select this input individualy and make a 2x2 Videowall effect? Aspect ratio would be fine if you put all 4 videos at the same time and you use quarters of the screen Output - it is simple, if you put 16:9 video on a 8:9 surface it will strech the video
Hi Shane. I really enjoyed watching this video. I notice you've used quite a few switchers including the Blackmail Mini Atem which I also tried but sent back as it didn't do what I wanted. If I tell you what I need it to do, I'm hoping that you can advice me what is best for me. I'm a video dj who hosts karaoke too. I use a program called PCDJ Dex3 which deals with the video Dj side of things. I occasionally use an ipad for a separate karaoke player, so I want a separate Video DJ screen showing music videos from my Macbook Air, a separate Karaoke program from my ipad and would like to transition between both using one output going to several TV screens around the venue. I would also like to put a camera on the person singing and crossfade a cobination of the karaoke lyrics from my ipad mixed with the video of the person singing onto the venues TV simultaneously. As the karaoke song is finishing, I would then like to seamlessly crossfade the main venue screen to my macbook and mix into my music videos from PCDjDex3. I would also like a camera on the crowd where I could pan around them whilst the music videos are playing and mix the crowd videos with the music, maybe using PIP or a crossfire effect. Would lagging occur on the karaoke lyrics which obviously would need to be 100% to keep the singer in sync with the music. Your advice on what to use would be most appreciated. Would the Liverpool L1 Mini do the job. Finally, can you reccomend a camera I could use on the crowd that I could zoom/pan in and out on the crowd? Thanks for any advice. Dave.
Great review, like to ask if this switcher will help me to less overload my encoder on Mac. I have a new Mac 2020 and obs install for church live streaming. Every time I switch my camera obs say the encoder is overloaded.

@@GeekyNerdyTechy the same questions as Danny Ruben :) if software solutions is not already revealed, i'm wondering if one audio mixer could help. Imagine you have microport on each camera - but ofcourse you dont want to change mic while changing camera. So, instead pluging in cameras through minijack 4 separately audio signal from each 4 mics, maybe just plug all 4 audio sources to another, one audio mixer? Then take these 4 audio sources into one signal and take IT out from mixer by 4 minijack wires to each cameras (same input in camera by same 3.5mm wire as audio signal instead separate mic)? Thank in advance for rrsponse:)
Thanks for the video. Question: at 2:16, you mentioned your hdmi output is going to your pc. What do you have hooked up to the ethernet and usb? If I run the hdmi output to my encoder, which goes directly to boxcast, what's the best way to send the signal to my laptop to OBS? Thanks.
I must’ve missed it how do you have it hooked to your computer or regular desktop do you still use the cam 4K and where do you hook it up at because it has the USB 3. To HDMI where is that HDMI go to and doesn’t show up on the OBS software your screen which input do you use thanks
I'm looking for something like this to install in classrooms. We wouldn't be using OBS; it would go straight to Zoom/Teams, for simplicity. Does the out-of-sync issue kill it for that?
Hi. Can you do d switching of cameras during post-editing? Not sure if i’ll make sense but what im trying to say is, say i have 4 cameras, they all record, then after i do d take, i play’em all back, then do my switching, then that feeds to say finalcut pro and record the way i had made the “live” switching between cameras. Does it work that way too? Basically i play guitar live in front of the cameras, then i do my post editing with final cut pro and gArage band, sync them together in final cut pro then mute all my camera audio, living the post edit with the garage band audio.

Can you tell me what equipment to choose to capture the signal from the console, switch, ps5, and the camera at the same time. I would like to record my kids as they play. Therefore, I need to record the screen and what is in the camera.
The Atem Mini, is much better with sound, the built in Multi-view is too small to be of much value. For most productions the preview out of the Atem is fine if you are doing live sports then yes you need a multi view but 8 or more inputs too so not relevant. Note: the Software for the Atem is very good and lets you do so much more.
This unit also outputs the multi-cam view to a separate monitor (HDMI Out) as well as the built-in screen. The built-in screen is helpful for a quick check of all your inputs, and is quite clear for a small screen.
I have been struggling for days and I cannot get any kind of digital connection to the computer nor can I get the cameras from cutting off when plugged into the livepro. I cannot even find the live pro ono the software thing... can you help?
I have a USB 3.0 to HDMI cords that allow me to output my cell phone to my TV. Do you happen to know if the Livepro would accept the video signal from a cell phone camera using this cord. If it matters the phones I’ve done this with are the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S21or higher)? Basically I really wanna buy the Livepro, but I’m hoping to not need to by 2 Video cameras. Basically hoping to use one video camera and 2 cell phone cameras if possible. This would be for a podcast. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
You need a delay on the audio when you switch to the analogue input. Voice and mouth are moving WAY off sync. Only small format mixer with digital delay I can think of is a behringer Flow8 at about $300, everything else is like $500+.
Lol just watched you explain it. It’s not your hardware. It’s simply the fact that HDMI delivers video with a latency. This is why gaming on HDMI has to be adjusted and retro gaming purists will only play on CRTs.
It works like a webcam so you can just plug it into the computer without the need for drivers. OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a great program to use for streaming.

Why is it NOBODY talks about how to actually record the video your making. If i wanna do a product review how do you record. the V1 doesnt have a memory card slot to record internally like the ATEM Mini
Record via USB into OBS or some other HDMI capture card on a computer works as well. Rock on.
Thanks for the video, great review!
Very helpful review. could you please give me one info, if it works with grandvj? thanks in advance.
It seems to me that LIVEPRO L1 in multiscreen distorts video? Is that what it looks like in your video? Thanks
Dave.
Sorry predictive text put in Blackmail instead of Blackmagic and Liverpool instead of Livepro L1 Mini Switcher.
Price sir
Check the description....
No audio delay settings in the menu?
how will you update the software as they say it now can be updated?. Where is the software anywhere on the site?
Great review, like to ask if this switcher will help me to less overload my encoder on Mac. I have a new Mac 2020 and obs install for church live streaming. Every time I switch my camera obs say the encoder is overloaded.
Hi Shane, Do you know if FEELWORLD LIVEPRO L1 Video Switcher Firmware Update V0.40 has actually fixed any of the audio problems ?
Has it addressed the ability to keep one audio channel while switching cameras ?
I will update mine tomorrow and give it a shot :)
Will this work without a platform like obs, direct to RUclips?
OBS, yep 100%
Which camera are you using...it's really clear. JT
This was filmed with a Panasonic GH5
@@GeekyNerdyTechy - Thank you very much. JT
Thanks.
Using the USB 3.0 connection to your computer, it will connect to OBS.
I must’ve missed it how do you have it hooked to your computer or regular desktop do you still use the cam 4K and where do you hook it up at because it has the USB 3. To HDMI where is that HDMI go to and doesn’t show up on the OBS software your screen which input do you use thanks
where can i get this locally in australia? :D great vid
Can this device stream to multiple social media channels at once?
Really like this video. Lot of good info. Only thing is your mic gain. Super peaks.😑
Only the USB can be used to stream or can you use the HDMI output to stream
Hahaha I didn’t realise you had another channel. I’ve just seen you shred mate 😉
haha thanks. Don't tell anyone ;-)
Great comprehensive review
Thank you! :)
Is it possible to do live work only with livepro l1?
Is it able to output 4K video?
Ya
Really well made review.
Did the stretching on pip get corrected over the update?
I have been struggling for days and I cannot get any kind of digital connection to the computer nor can I get the cameras from cutting off when plugged into the livepro. I cannot even find the live pro ono the software thing... can you help?
Great review. Is it able to add logo and text?
It says it will have enhanced "effects" coming soon. That option is not available just now.
are you using TRS audio jack or TRRS?
I have a USB 3.0 to HDMI cords that allow me to output my cell phone to my TV. Do you happen to know if the Livepro would accept the video signal from a cell phone camera using this cord. If it matters the phones I’ve done this with are the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S21or higher)?
Basically I really wanna buy the Livepro, but I’m hoping to not need to by 2 Video cameras. Basically hoping to use one video camera and 2 cell phone cameras if possible. This would be for a podcast. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
Can we work on OBS in Studio mode with each cam independently jus to switch on software?
You need a delay on the audio when you switch to the analogue input. Voice and mouth are moving WAY off sync. Only small format mixer with digital delay I can think of is a behringer Flow8 at about $300, everything else is like $500+.
Lol just watched you explain it. It’s not your hardware. It’s simply the fact that HDMI delivers video with a latency. This is why gaming on HDMI has to be adjusted and retro gaming purists will only play on CRTs.
Is multiview always compressed into 4:3 aspect?
It seems to be yes. I'm sure this will end up getting fixed at some point.
What if you pair it with a goxlr mini?
Do you need any capture card device with that thing, or the feed goes throught the USB port directly in the computer?
It works like a webcam so you can just plug it into the computer without the need for drivers. OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a great program to use for streaming.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thanks a lot! That exactly what i was looking for!
How about 59.94 and 29.94?
Is it possible to add a mobile phone camera to this video mixer and if so how to connect
