Just finished the whole video and I’d 100% say the scriptwriting section. My storytelling skills need work, and even though I don’t script my videos (I’m an entertainment channel), giving me this ability to breakdown certain sections like this was a real aha moment.

The best thing I’ve seen lately. Everything is always clear, well-reasoned, structured, and easy to understand. Amazing work. Thank you. This is definitely the coolest channel. Wishing you strength!
I really liked the part at 1:17:25 where you showed us raw footage of filming yourself. Seeing a big creator having the same exact experience as me who is still at the early stages of RUclips is really encouraging that this is normal and part of the process.
AHHHHH thank you so much!! I just feel so grateful that I'm able to provide this for all of you 💙 it's the type of video I wished I had a few years ago!
I just made a long form video that was about 6 minutes and it took AGES for me to edit. I've got so much respect for the time and effort you put in this video. I've had so much value from it :)
This is sooo awesome!!! The comparison of thumbnails to book covers really struck me. I used to be a cover designer/artist, and you're so 100% right. The mistake so many YTers make is the same as so many authors make, wanting to "show a scene" rather than "stop the scroll". And knowing your genre and trope expectations, etc, is how you sell books. But, just like YT, if the book doesn't deliver what the cover promises (it has man chest but it's not a romance, for example),.. That's how people click away or leave one-star reviews. I actually quit because one too many authors insisted on things I knew wouldn't work. Fun fact: if it's fantasy, get a dragon in there somehow, even if it's just someone's coat of arms, and for sci fi, spaceship ass is tried and true. 😂 I'm only that far in and loving this so much!! ❤❤❤
this is so insightful! there really are so many parallels - I think about that with different thumbnail styles as well. If a thumbnail looks like a video essay, but you click through and it's a podcast, the video doesn't deliver on the expectation that the thumbnail set
@@AprilynneAlter YES!! It definitely pays to study what style goes with which type of video. And, keeping with the parallels, maybe have a few basic types of thumbnails as templates for each content bucket. They'd have to be refreshed, but sometimes it's just nice to have somewhere to start. I used to have them for romance, sci fi, etc, along with specific lists of and folders with fonts and other basic assets for each genre and it's subs.

The one thing I'd say is that there are so many ads :(, I think every 3 minutes I am faced with a 1 min ad which has taken the fun out of the experience of watching this video.
This was incredible-well done! It was super insightful. If there’s one thing I’d add to the conversation, it’s the importance of being authentic. These days, a lot of creators try to copy people like MrBeast or put on a persona to appeal to a bigger audience. While that might work for some, I’ve learned that being yourself is the best way to go. Being authentic helps you connect with your audience on a deeper level, and it’s easier to keep up with content when you’re not pretending to be someone you’re not. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take inspiration from others or try new things. Take creative risks, especially early on-it's totally fine to experiment and see what sticks. I’ve been open about my own influences, but now that I’ve found something I really enjoy and made it my own, creating content feels way more rewarding. And it seems like viewers can tell when you're being real and passionate about something-that’s what keeps them coming back. Thanks for making this! I’ll definitely be sharing it with my creator friends.
YESSS this is so, so huge!! my channel only started taking off (to the small degree that it has so far) once I found my own style of content that resonated for both me and my audience. In the long-term, nothing beats authenticity. Influences are important, especially in the early stages as you're discovering what's even possible and what you do and don't like. But after a certain point, real growth comes from finding the type of content that YOU can uniquely make
🟥 I really appreciate your long form content. I can jump on the bike trainer and learn while I exercise. Incredible work! Do you happen to have a PDF summary sheet? I would dish out some 💰for it if you did so I don’t have to go back and watch it again to take notes!
THanks for all the work you put in to your videos. Definitely watching this from start to finish while I work today. Off to get some milk and cookies for the watch!
1:32:45 This comment is SO SO helpful. I was consistently uncertain whether to see it as positive or negative that I have a 4-6% overall CTR. I love my channel and the videos I’m making regardless, but it does help to see where I “rank” and what I should focus on improving!! Thank you, April!
I can’t even imagine how much time this must have taken you! We truly appreciate it. Just curious - what app do you use for scriptwriting that allows annotations?

I would love to see you make a video about this video. This longer format seems to be "the shift" that RUclips is pushing for and that RUclips strategists are talking about. I would be curious to the see the analytical fruits of you labor here. Great work as always!

Hey thanks so much God bless you this is actually the complete guide for those who actually want to do RUclips seriously. I am following what you have taught in your recent videos. Once I hit a certain mark I will show you hence proving your content in this neiche of helping youtubers is top notch.
What is the source of your graphics? Ilove all the icons you use to illustrate your points. I've been looking for those to put in my bullet journal. I'd also like them for my RUclips channel in the future.
I’m glad I watched this video. You talking about FLOPS made me feel a bit better. I just made my first RUclips video and I see some mistakes I’ve made and I got some feedback and they helped me realize some things I could not before, but I definitely plan to do better. 🙌

In the long-term, nothing beats authenticity. Influences are important, especially in the early stages as you're discovering what's even possible and what you do and don't like. But after a certain point, real growth comes from finding the type of content that YOU can uniquely make
You did it again. Will start my first watch through today.
"first watch through" omg I love it 😅
This is exactly the masterclass I needed! THANK YOU!
Ahhh I'm so happy to hear that!!! Enjoy!! 💙
It's an excellent summary; I took extensive notes and can't believe these resources are free. Thank you so much!
ahhh I'm so glad you found the video helpful!! thank you for watching 💙
I will definitely put aside some time to watch this shortly! Thank you Aprilynne!!
Thank you so much for watching!! Catch you on the flip side!
I always appreciate your work, I’m really excited to watch every video! 🤩
Ahhh that makes me so happy to hear!!
Enjoy!!! 🥛🍪
Chris's section had so many insightful knowledge bombs!!

Ready to rewatch dozens of times 💪
heck yeah 💪💪
This video is INSANELY valuable even as someone that has probably watched everything out there on how to make RUclips videos thank you! ❤️
Just from this one video with how you explained everything, I’m now a red viewer
I can’t even imagine how much time this must have taken you! We truly appreciate it.
Just curious - what app do you use for scriptwriting that allows annotations?
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Amazing job on this one 🙏
thank you so, so much!!! 💙
83 years lol. That was a pretty good title hook right there buddy
Hahaha thank you 💙
damn I was taking NOTES y'all!! Thank you for this enriching encouraging masterclass. And best of luck to everyone on their RUclips journey, we got this 💪
🟥
I already know I will watch this one multiple times. Thank you for the work you do! It is extremely helpful, hard to put the value into words. Can't wait for the next one!
I would love to see you make a video about this video. This longer format seems to be "the shift" that RUclips is pushing for and that RUclips strategists are talking about. I would be curious to the see the analytical fruits of you labor here. Great work as always!
The analytics behind this video have been so fascinating so far - and it's only the first day! I'm so intrigued to see how it performs in the long run. Maybe I'll have to do a BTS breakdown sometime 👀
❤❤❤❤ I'm watching this one over and over so much information Thank you so much
❤Insanely valuable video! One additional question: What to do when almost all videos never take off? (except for like 1 or 2 lucky videos that brought in lots of new viewers.)
You never cease to amaze 🙏 INCREDIBLE job! 👏🙌💯
thank you so, so much!!! 💙
