How do people from certain parts of the world eat unrefrigerated shellfish and dried fish infested with bugs (and bug poop) and not get sick? Is there an incredible difference in gut bacteria, or immune systems?
Yes. Don't know where you are from but here in the US people always joke about Mexico, "Don't drink the water", and they're right. When I lived in Guatemala one time I ate at a restaurant which was basically at a person's home, dirt floor, plastic tables, very good food, I got sick as can be, my wife and 2 brothers in law, completely fine. Two questions. 1) How do Chinese passengers continue to travel with suitcases full of food including raw meat and seafood? 2) How is it that Australian border force is allowed to send people without a valid passport back to their assumed home countries but Britain has to detain passengers without valid passports in their own jail system?
The Australian government doesn't like paying for the upkeep of non citizens that have no right to be here. People in such a situation are sent packing ASAP. I can't speak for the Brits, but I'm assuming the policy is costing the British taxpayer a shitload. There would be thousands of people in such a situation every day.
It's simple, if you arrive in a country by plane, and cannot enter due to visa / passport, the airline is liable to return you to the origin, and the airline gets fined for 'not checking'.
1. China doesn't care if you leave their country wuth food including raw. Goibg to OTHER countries there are restrictions on raw, fresh etc food. Meat is a no no also. Packaged is ok food unless its fresh. Thats why they have the card to fill out properly. Any fresh or raw can contaminate their infrastructure. 2. Britain and other countries have their OWN laws pertaining to visas. People must adhere 100 percent to them. If we enter a country it is our responsibility to respect and obey THEIR laws. Its interesting how people think not knowing the language will get officials to over look offenses. If I go anywhere in the world 🌎 I would definitely know and obey their laws. People who don't take chances of not getting caught. Thats why they know body language, nervousness, etc. Besides those who cheat all have the same MOD. And they have been trained hours and monthly training to watch out for these travelers. As a former Head Cashier at Walmart, we know theives, fake money, as well as Active Shooters.

I agree. $10,000 fine should act as a bit of a deterrent. If you can't pay, back on the plane you go. Unless it's a genuine mistake, like someone forgot they had an apple from the plane still in their carry on. But bringing in 3 suitcases of food etc, that's not a mistake.
OMG, she said she doesn't have enough money to pay fines for the seafoods, but she is carrying expensive LV handbag and showing a lot of cash $100 notes on her hand.
I still don't know why people bring so much food (or any food at all for that matter ) when they go visiting another country. There is food anywhere you go.
Me either. Part of the fun is eating new things in other places. I love trying new drinks and snacks in every country I visit plus not having to haul around a bunch of stuff.
@jauntycommander1065 marine polychaete worms. The ones he had are nicknamed fireworms in the marine aquarium hobby because what looks like legs are actually venomous barbs that burn really bad (like being lit on fire) when embedded. They also have a nasty bite. The teeth are hidden they shoot them out the mouth like the aliens in the alien movies. They are amazing bait for pretty much anything in salt water.

Nuts fall under the “declare it” category on the custom’s website for Australia. Just google customs Australia and you’ll get a result that discusses items that are allowed and those that are banned.

42:55 so a person who lives in Italy has travelled to Australia to try Australian Italian restaurants? It’s unlikely that they would require a visa to blog for a short period of time but a lot of countries will require a work visa if a vlogger plans to spend some time there. Some countries require a different type of visa because the footage being collected is for commercial purposes.
If you go on vacation and take spectacular photographs and then sell them it’s not considered work. It is a byproduct that does not directly impact the Australian economy. The point of no work visas are to protect the jobs of workers who are legally allowed to work.

Yes NewZealand and Australia let people away with two much and need to be much harder on people knowingly bringing food and wood and living animals and insects in to our country. If it was me I'd send them home and fine them 1000s. The man got a 350 dollar fine for knowingly bringing in living fishing worms what a joke .How disrespectful he should have been given a 10,000 dollar fine 7 days in jailed and then sent home. He knew what he was doing and examples need to be made . This women bringing in insects should have her citizenship revoked if possible and sent home ,with a fine we don't need people like this in this part of the world
These people know exactly what they are doing. When I visited Fiji they had lots of frogs and lizards and they even came in my room, so the last thing I did was empty my suit case and checked everything before repackaging to be on the safe side. I worked on the wharf and had a customs certificate to inspect containers and did a course for this so I want to be extra clean.
Great comments. A really nice show. Good, respectful questions and kind, thoughtful answers.

People absolutely develope a tolerance to the different bacteria.
@@griffisjm Exactly. Friends of ours used to own property on a mountainside. They got along fine; but their occasional visitor got sick; then they went to San Francisco for a couple of weeks. When they came back, they got really sick, and finally realized there was a real problem. Turned out there was a dead squirrel in their spring enclosure.
People from that particular Eastern country tell tales from birth to death. It's in their DNA. Nothing ever surprises me. Same story regardless of Country border.

We absolutely do; the US turns people away constantly. Just because it is not filmed in an edited TV show does not mean it does not happen.
On a trip back home from England-my birthplace-a customs man viewing my pocketbook on his screen, asked “you have what in the pocket of your bag” they see all and ask all. For the curios, it was my dad’s pocket watch for my son.

Ill be heading to Australia for my first time soon. I know there are many things you can't bring but im wondering about kukui nut leis from Hawaii. As in Hawaii you have to declare plant and food before entering and leaving the state
If it is self pack then no. Unless it is packaged by legit manufacturer and you must declare regardless of both example.
Declare them anyway. If they’re not allowed in, they’ll take them, but you won’t be in trouble if they’re declared.
Nuts fall under the “declare it” category on the custom’s website for Australia. Just google customs Australia and you’ll get a result that discusses items that are allowed and those that are banned.
Always declare. The fines for violations in 2024 now go up to more than $6000 AUD.
I brought back treated kukui nut from Hawaii in December. I declared it and it passed. If it isn't treated, they'll just destroy it and you won't get in trouble as long as you declare.

If a vlogger visits Australia and vlogs… is that considered working in Australia? 😊
Not really, since the revenue the vlogger gets doesn’t come from Australia
Influencers ARE working
It’s unlikely that they would require a visa to blog for a short period of time but a lot of countries will require a work visa if a vlogger plans to spend some time there. Some countries require a different type of visa because the footage being collected is for commercial purposes.
If you go on vacation and take spectacular photographs and then sell them it’s not considered work. It is a byproduct that does not directly impact the Australian economy. The point of no work visas are to protect the jobs of workers who are legally allowed to work.
It's only considered work if you are paid money in Australia for doing work in Australia.
