This will work best with breaks that have been chopped and quantised already. You can skip this step, but I do love that super tight sound. Hopefully this is another quick method to proliferate usable, musical results. It's worth mentioning that the samplers used WITH the trackers are just as important in the jungle story.
Aww man thank you! Well after that head to head I could not try and include that reverse mono reverb hit trick, so cool. And also the concept of the edits being monophonic. AND after you were talking us through the edits in renoise I was like 'f*ck they just sound so TIGHT'. Ableton does excel at these kind of generative approaches tho, but tracker edits are just so... distinctive! Do think I'd like to explore redux tho after @arcologies reminded me that works as a vst in ableton.
Awesome video man, some really interesting stuff. I was chatting to some folks yesterday about how I find some generative stuff a bit unwieldy but you've really shown how it can be tamed.
You're so right! It definitely can be, but with a bit of fine tuning the results can be quite impressive. And it's another colour on your breaks palette. I've found myself reaching for these different approaches seemingly randomly haha and often I can't remember which way I prefer when I start. But saving things like this and having them available to pull in can be so handy and can provide just what you need when you need it. Thanks man!
Aw yeah! That's sick! I get so wound up trying to cover every single aspect of these techniques forgetting that people always take the ideas in uniquely wild directions. Had to check their stuff, but absolutely. And you can fill this shit up with all manner of material, or breaks, and up to 127 channels so really the only limit is your imagination. It would work great with any break even if it's not chopped and quantised, but taking that extra step makes things so tight. Let me know how you get on with your endeavours! And you're very welcome.

Love this mate. Really interesting to see how you brought all those techniques in Ableton and took it all in your own direction! Great stuff✌
