    Honestly, Noah could've filled the hole Glenn left when he died. Both had a special type of innocence all of the other characters have lost. Even Heath could've also taken Glenn's role after his death

      I'm split on this on one hand Noah could have been that perfect Glenn replacement when Glenn got killed given how similar they are we could have also had Noah fill the role Donte had in comics where years after Glenn's death Maggie gets with Noah because of how much he reminds her of Glenn, on the other hand though Noah was the first person to die on Glenn's watch and it was Noah's death that shaped him into the leader like roll we'd see Glenn in for the remainder of season 5 and most of season 6

    I instantly liked Noah the moment he was introduced. He had chemistry with Beth, and seemed like an overall cool guy. His death so soon after Beth's just cheapened her loss imo. He deserved a season to flesh out his character and have the audience get attached. Having him survive at least until the Saviors war would have been cool. Imagine Negan being impressed with Noah's skills, or Noah reacting to Glenn's death. Noah and Maggie could have reminiscenced about Beth. Oh, what could have been.

    I completely agree here. Noah was an interesting character with quite a bit of potential. The writers (very stupidly) sacrificed Beth so we could have him around (not to mention losing Tyreese immediately after). And what is our payoff for losing two huge characters so that we can have Noah around? Giving him one of the most brutal and cruel death scenes yet. All that loss could have meant something and helped to develop an interesting character, but the writers thought it would be cooler if everybody ate Chris.

    @bishbosh4815 Месяц назад +1

    I think people really misunderstand the premise of this show being that "anyone can die" and I think the writers were wrong in thinking characters can and should be killed off for shock value. The sweet spot of the early seasons is that, yes, there was a feeling that no-one is safe, but killing off the right characters in the right way, not just for an emotional reaction from the audience, but building up their characters and the story so that their deaths serve a purpose and impact the other characters that affects the overall story. Killing Beth just to kill off Tyreese in the next episode and Noah a few episodes later felt like a massive waste because after the emotional impact of their deaths passed, it achieved nothing and the characters kinda just forgot about them. It didn't affect the story, it just felt like trimming the fat and the writers didn't know what to do with them anymore, and they thought it'd be better to end the mid season finale with a big character death than actually giving Beth a satisfying character arc. Yes Noah's death did affect Glenn and his storyline with Nicholas, but the character himself deserved so much more, his death was gruesome and shocking but he had so much more potential

    Was also the start for Rick and the group to lead Alexandra, proving their people didn't know enough, which was a way to get the audience to be on board with it too if there were any doubts.

    I'm currently on season 9 of my rewatch, and you summed up all my thoughts exactly. Noah was shaping up to be an excellent asset to the group; while he was younger than most of the others (except Carl, I think), he still could handle himself well. While the impact of Nicholas leaving them behind may not have hit as hard without his death, they definitely could have used someone else. I think this is where The Walking Dead really started to go off the deep end, sadly, with the killing of characters.

    Fully agree with what you had to say here. Noah is one of those characters that should have gone on through multiple seasons to be like Glenn!
    There's other characters within season 5(which you've mentioned) that fell victim to the writers wanting a shocking death for the numbers of the show. Beth and Tyreese back to back in s5e8 and e9. The early seasons of TWD always had an issue with killing off "the black guy". T-dog, Bob, Tyreese, Noah, Heath.
    Tyreese himself deserves his own video, and he lived long after his comic counterpart, and both him and Beth had some of the worst deaths in the show(by how they died and for shock value).
    Noah's death only added insult to injury over the course of this season's writing at times too(despite being one of the best).

But also to be an architect it takes a minimum of 5 yrs of schooling and 6 professional licensure exams so im not sure it was really practical for noah to learn more than construction techniques unless they were planning to extend that story for 5-10 years

    A filler character if there ever was one. They used him to drive Beth’s character, killed her off, then writers used the little characterization and backstory he had to kill him off.
    It sucks because his actor was actually shining quite well in the role but wasn’t really given a chance.

    Literally MY FAVORITE character in the show! And it sucks my 5 favorite characters disappeared from TWD .. Bob, Morgan, Heath an Noah n Abraham.. would do anything to watch this show for the first time again and enjoy how much them 5 characters not only entertained me but changed me. Changed my perspective of life .. they all lived for certain reasons and they were all great men and deserved to see the great ending of the walking dead..

    Can you make a video essay on Daryl Dixon? I know he has a LOT of stuff to talk about now since he’s one of the surviving characters through TWD to the point where he got his own spin off, but i think it would be interesting to take a deep dive into his growth from the start of the show to the later seasons. Anyway good videos man, cheers from Washington US 🫡ps. I also think the scene with Beth and Daryl (she got Daryl to drink liquor) did a lot for the show as a whole

    You forgot that Tyreese dies in name of Noah's arc, going with him to his house. So that's two characters with Beth, to introduce this underrated character.

  • @buzz_cooksey
    @buzz_cooksey 2 месяца назад

    His and Tyrese's deaths were two big unreasonable deaths that stood out to me thru the show. I would have loved to see how much of a de-facto uncle Tyrese would've been for Judith as she gets older and captures those core memories. People make the case that Hershel's death was unnecessary, but it was extremely valuable to the character development of the Survivors. Beth's absolutely hurt (I cry every watch), but given she played the role of the typical teen who's decision making wasn't the best, on top of becoming cold to the world since the Prison, she was more than likely going to do something foolish that gets her killed- kinda like Henry.

    Noah's death upset me the most of any character i think, Glenn's death was probably the hardest hitting but at least we had a long time with Glenn. We were just starting to get to know Noah and see his potential and then he was killed...
    edit: the character death that actually upset me the most was Carl but that feels like a give in.

    I loved Noah, I really wish he was on the show for longer and it is so disappointing he died so quick. Tbh i think it might've been possible that they would not be able to have the actor for longer even if they wanted to, because i mean that dude probably gets quite a lot of roles and might have not been available and doesn't usually play in that genre anyway

    I like the idea that Noah could have been an architect to help with the Saviours war. It was sad seeing Beth go but if Noah became a prominent character in the later seasons then it would have been worth it. I still don’t think Tyreese needed to die for Noah’s short lived story arc either. Noah could have been Maggie’s protégé as well as Enid at Hilltop. I honestly think he could have stuck around until season 8 or 9 and die then.

    I've been unintentionally following this man's career since he was a child. Between Lab rats, Everybody hates Chris, TWD and Abbott Elementary; I feel like I've been watching a mini multiverse saga all loosely centered around him 🤣
    He even kinda plays the same role in each iteration.

    Beth's death was so unexpected, I jumped off the couch when it happened and shouted "NO!" Her death was for nothing because they killed Noah off. You're right that it seems like the show was just starting to kill off good characters for shock and nothing more.

    Honestly, the whole fanbase was weird when it came to Noah. Basically, the common responses at the time these episodes aired was like this:
    When Beth died: "NO! Noah killed Beth!"
    When Tyrese died: "NO! Noah killed Tyrese!"
    When Noah died: "NO! NOAH!"

    i kinda like it when twd will kill a lot of characters quickly or kill a character with a lot of potential that was going in a good direction, the "shock value" in this show is almost realistic in the sense that ANYONE could die at any moment, it doesnt matter if your a badass or an architect, things will always go wrong and when things go wrong people die

    Tyler is also a great actor. It would have been truly fulfilling to see Beth, Noah, Carl, Judith, Enid, Henry, Mini Hershel, and eventually a child from Abraham and Sasha would have been a good end, the children and young adults would have made a good end.

    The Walking Dead I felt cared more about shock value than story.... so many characters had so much potential, and they just wasted them for the purpose of leaving fans shocked. But it actually caused many to stop watching...

    Noah was full of hope and wanted to make a contribution towards rebuilding society. He was doomed from the start. To survive the Walking Dead universe one must embrace a nihilistic view of the world and an expectation of bad behavior on the part of humanity. It didn’t help that he was going to start shooting Abbot Elementary in a more prominent role. He died so that a great TV show may live.

    Noah and Sadiq (sorry if I misspelled) both have the worst case scenario I think. They both were saved at the cost of one of youngest and most important characters getting killed by accident right before they reach their peak. Both bringing in a major element of heart that just got ripped away. Only to rip it away again shortly after by horrifically killing the void filling character off too pretty shortly after. Same thing with Henry except even worse because he also filled the hole left behind by Carl’s death and was yet another child that poor Carol has to bury.

    If TWD is going to build up a character with a potential arc, they should ensure that if they shockingly kill the character off that it ALWAYS has a significant impact on the plot.
    Instead, TWD decided to just recycle characters after building them up repeatedly without giving any of them any meaning.
