The enthusiasm of Josh and this content is contagious.
So true
Most incredible part is if you ever get to meet him, he is every bit as positive, energetic, and nice as he appears in the videos😎
I always has been 😁.
even 5 years ago it was the same
Fashion project. Imagine to came to Fly Fest whith this model and wear the black glasses. It will be very stylish.
@@carnagefpv8256 I met him in November when near there on business just before the big move. He was so personal with me and enthusiastic about the new site.
Sometime in 2021 I'd love to see an easy DIY aircraft carrier catapult launching device/system. Excellent work with your flying glider inexpensive and so much fun!
Fact you're rocking TKOR merch still after all these years still warms my heart man keep up the great attitude
1:09 begins the most satisfying 8 seconds. My OCD happily approved.
I forgot all about this type of aircraft. Me and my brother used to build these back in the 60s after we destroyed our balsa wood rubber band airplanes and use the props to propel the aircraft. And see how far you have taken this to. Thanks for bringing back some very memorable moments.
Remember the. 049 or .020 flying rag?
I sure do , I started flying control line Cox PT-17 with my brother in the beginning. And made are own one's not much longer.
I have some old youtube vid Arro3D, havent posted anyting in some years. But still fly gas
I haven't flown gas in years, the AMA Field was closed years ago and never had reopened, closes spot to fly would be 35 miles away from me, and my wheelchair doesn't have that much range.
Everybody likes a good Rogallo wing.
This design made out of a space blanket would be interesting..
I tried a material similar to that on a different model a while back, it would actually make it nearly invisible sometimes once in the air.
@@jamesturncliff5960 they explained that in the video
The first models by Francis M. Rogallo were made with Mylar, so yes that would work.

I’m I the only one that thinks these guys are under rated
no they crazy cool
They're rated fine. 1.85 million people is a lot and they have a really dedicated fanbase
@@zachpike1773 1.85 million subscribers still feels like they are just getting started considering the amount of quality content they produce. These videos always make me want to go build and fly!
@@milesnoell there are only so many rc enthusiasts on youtube
@@milesnoell thank you
Mom: NO FLYING IN THE HOUSE!
Josh: But Maw, it`s my house...;-)
Love the simplicity of the two motor/thrust differential setup, can make just about anything fly!
I used to do this with the Airhogs Aero Ace biplanes. When the bipes got too heavy from repairs I’d make a paper airplane, paper hang glider, other foam and balsa rubber band models and anything I could find, really.
20 years ago I thought I was a mad scientist. Watching this video really brings back memories of my childhood
Love quick projects like this. Gets me excited to use my own EZ pack.
Great Job. I built my first Rogallo Hang glider out of Bamboo and 6 mil plastic when I was 12 years old. Then Aluminum Tube and Nylon fabric at 16. A year ago I found an Old "Wing Thing"
from 1962 in the original box that was free flight, Nitro powered. Have reconfigured it to Electric and added RC servos to a Rudder and Nose elevator. Works Great. Fun to Fly.
Keep up the great work. A1.
Josh is such a glorious top notch dork.
Woah! that stem building challenge sounds really cool! I would love to build airplanes at school, designing my own would be cool too!
Awesome build, Bixler! Thanks for including plans. I’ll use this in my class this spring.
Josh it's nice to see you getting back to simple aviation with this build. However if you had made this one a true weight shift control plane it might not have gotten tossed around quite as much.
I made a Rogallo wing RC using plastic soda straws and a plastic shopping bag. I hung a clipped wing indoor foamy (a P-51) underneath with rudder/elevator/motor control and it flies quite well.
I did this in junior high school using 2 umbrella framework pieces covered with plastic shopping bags a string tied from front to back with a weight tied to the string with a wire wrapped around the string so that the weight can be moved and it would stay for flight adjustment. When tossed off of the Hillside the fact that weight was free swinging was somewhat of an autopilot freeflight control system. I never made one radio-controlled though these are my years of the free fight exploration.
Best intro in FliteTest history
Happy New Year Flite Test!
Happy New Year!!! Your jovial, positive attitude is what is so valuable at the start of 2021. Blessings on the whole crew.
That intro was great. I needed that laugh after all this turmoil in the world.
This is what I’ve always liked, your xperiments and enthusiasm. Thanks.
Always fun watching you have fun. I've been playing with a giant version (150%) of the FT Bushwacker. She's almost done! You have definitely got me hooked on this hobby.
Epic simple build! Thanks Josh Ozzborne!!!
Brings back memories... I used to make Rogallo hangliders out of wooden dowels and tissue paper. My brother had one in the 70’s and I copied it, right down to using thread for guy wires between triangular control and king post. They flew great!
Love how excited he still gets when first testing if a model glides !!
Josh -- you show great inspiration in your videos.
I discovered the Rogallo wing design over 40 years ago when I use to live on a boat and built kites for a hobby.
For about three dollars worth of materials, I could build a stunt kite that could go about 60 mph and crash in and out of the water without problems.
I would link the sticks together with plastic tubing and tape plastic fabric over the wings.
Currently, I have about seven kite models in my room -- and all of them are very similar to the Rogallo design.
However, all of them have a boat shaped payload that is fixed to the overhead kite using sticks and plastic tubing.
The length of all the sticks used in these models are scaled to the 5/8 "Golden Section" concept -- and the CG payload point is at the 5/8 mark.
The differential thrust idea located outwards from the CG payload point is the secret that make the design work so well.
The design uses a total 90 degree spread -- or 45 degree per wing. Any greater or lesser wing angle can result in poor performance -- or serious instability.
Moreover, if the wings have too much or too little "pocket shape", the craft can also result in poor performance -- or serious instability.
I believe this "A shape aircraft" design has ancient origins -- and also believe it will be the shape of the most simplest portable aircraft in our future.
For more information about the aircraft design I'm referencing -- please visit my spiritofatlantis.com website.
Again, great episode!
Awesome job Josh love it.
Crazy Glider! Ha ha ha ha. The reference is from the beginning of the vid, but this thing is pretty cool. I think I'll scrap some drones I have and make a Glider. Awesome vid!
I actually had a rogallo wing hang glider in 1984 that cost $100 used. I also made some models and quickly figured out that the billow was what gave it directional stability instead of a rudder and vertical stabilizer. Make these, it's great learning experience! Great job FT!
I just bought the ft spitfire as my first build third plane and I'm so excited
Awesome concept--sort of like a hybrid kite and rc plane. Super simple to replace when damaged, thumbs up
Amazing job my friend Josh keep flying every day thanks for free plans
Now this is the kind of FT video I lile best, just casual fub with planes
Antonov AN-2 in background on the far table ? Most interesting, do tell us more !
Very nice to see another super-accessible RC idea.
This video got my attention cause what you build is a hangglider. Nice work. Thanks for sharing!
It's a Rollego Wing! This was developed initially for the Gemini program - specifically "Blue Gemini." This was a USAF version of the Gemini spacecraft that would land on a runway instead of in the ocean. Unfortunately, there were some major technical issues with deployment. However, this led to the initial ultralight aircraft market.
The fact that you guys do
S. T. E. M. at the schools is awesome!
Josh's happyness when stuff flies is incredebly inspiring.
OPRN Nice to see another unusual but very simple project! I built a larger version several years ago and suspended my Sig Kadet Seniorita under it with floats. Flew great off water too! I love these Rogallo wings!
I am going off the rails like a crazy train!!!!
Great stuff. Looks perfect for my STEM club. Thanks.
Lol now you need to super size it!🤣🤣🤣
Can you guys make a sr71 blackbird or a airbus a380?
please do that
Yes great idea. Also make the Airbus baby baluga
it would be great
@@jonas2431 and put a flitetest plane in there!
Sr-71 speedbuild kit!
We used to build flexible boost gliders for NAR contests. The three spars are spring loaded in the front. They use a rocket with no nose cone they are ejected at apogee and glide forever.
Yes finally. I have been dying to see another video!
Paper plane: is being a paper plane
Josh: *W H E E Z E*
That AN-2 cameo has me interested.
A directional thrust flex wing? SO COOL. Awesome that you came across Rogollo and NASA's Parasev in research. You say "...facination with hang gliders..."? welcome to our world. Hope to fly HG with you some day. Thanks for sharing.
Great job Josh, that was fun!
i was really hoping to see you guys do more with slow flyers. this is a cool start.
You guys have too much fun! Bought a ton of LW PLA, I am going to have some fun with some projects I've been dreaming up!
Been wanting to make an RC ragala wing for a while. Thanks for working out all the balance and proportions.
I love it. Videos like this are why I subscribed.
You guys are awesome!!
Very cool you mentioned the NASA tests with the Gemini capsules using Rogallo wings. You did good research! Actually a Flite Test foamboard Gemini capsule with a bigger Rogallo might be fun. Nasa also designed a skid landing gear arrangement and tried it on the Rogallo test capsules.
The simpler the better👍 Love this awesome looking build😍
Keep up the greate work guys! With your opensource work - you do realy make the world a better place!
Unbelievable glide ratio! My Rogallo wing hang glider from the seventies had a 4 to 1 gr.
I miss seeing David, Peter, and Other Josh on this show. But this show still entertains me to no end, so keep up the great work!
Josh has entered into the wonderful world of rogallo wings
Beautiful an2 in background
I’d love to see it fly
Kudos Josh
Did anyone else notice that he's wearing the king of random merch
Love the videos!! I just finished my Simple Scout project a couple of weeks ago, first successful FT plane and scratch built RC plane in general!
Best video in a long time. Good job guys. Can't wait to build one:)
So cool. Love your adventures with flight. Happy new Year! :)
Awesome idea
This Man Is Living His Life. That's something far more of us need to aspire to!
It's like a mix of a kite a paper plane and an rc plane, so awesome !
Please revisit past FliteTest designs: build them, remember the good times you've had with the model, comment on what you would do differently today (RC has come a long way), fly them, modify them, link to original episodes and maybe better choices. This would be helpful and wonderful. You all got me into this hobby. Thanks.
Very cool!
Josh 3am and this Old Man from North Carolina as always loving your video. Just awesome the things you dream up. Been following y'all from almost day 1. Love you guys. ✈️😎💝
I have made numerous gliders from Styrofoam egg carton lids. I used a penny on the nose to get the CG right. I always thought that if you could get the electronics small enough you could power one. A bottle rocket will power one for a short flight, but usually results in just a bunch of quick loops.
Good one, Josh!
Happy New Year FliteTest!
I wish you a good year,
Matei
This is 💜HANG-GLIDER💜aerodynamic 👍creates 2 circular streams 😊

🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️
🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)[4] 📚
🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.
