Idk if you watched the one shot with Treantmonk, D4 and the Dungeon Dudes, but Chris showed off how insanely OP the Sheppard Druid is.
I’m not going to get a chance to play the current version before AL switches over to the new rules, so that kind of sucks.
I love the concept and power of summoning builds.
It’s a very popular trope in fantasy gaming.
I saw treantmonk doing a build for the shepherd Druid and it’s STRONG!!!! I really like treantmonk. I think his insights are very well thought out. His spell knowledge, and way to think out of the box is amazing.
I had a player play an eladrin shepherd druid in Descent into Avernus. He had to leave the group because of work and family but he had fun with summoning snakes and giving the party good berries.
I would love to be a yuan ti shepherd Druid and just summon snakes !!! It would be amazing !!! Also all my wild shapes would be for snakes!!
DM's who know the power of the summon animal spell must be shiting their pants right about now 😂

I recently played a Circle of the Shepherd Druid. Coupla notes from my experience: Bears Bears Bears. I summoned the biggest bear I could, buffed its hp with bear spirit, then turned myself into a bear. I ended up the party's caster, healer, and tank.
#1:Summon one copy of the biggest thing you can to avoid being a headache, just as Sinister Heroes suggests.
#2: The power boost per level drops off severely after level 6 compared to Moon druid, In my opinion, making this a very good multi class option. I went fighter after level 6 and was a certifiable wrecking ball.
Interesting choice mixing in fighter. What type of fighter were you?
What happened after level 6 that made you feel like the summons fell off? Was it there damage per round? Were they getting killed off too quickly?
@@TheSinisterheroes I looked ahead to new summon spells it would get and was underwhelmed. At level 5 you can call a Cave Bear, which from what I could see stayed the most powerful option until the fire elemental at level 9, and the upgrade wasn't significant enough to justify all the meh levels. So I took defensive fighter, took a feat, picked up a shield, got heavy plate made from umberhulk carapace, and became an AC 21 Caster/Tank. Still used the Cave Bear til level 15, when the campaign ended.
What was your fighter subclass? Thats cool you got to make plate from the umbra hulk
@@TheSinisterheroes I didn't need any more tricks so I just went Champion for the improved critical, synergizing with the half-orc's Savage Attacks.
@@deathpunchdingo2981 that’s a pretty smart move get that increased crit range and some heavy tank benefits while not having to juggle way to much stuff at once. I like the champion. It just isn’t for everyone.
